is this efficient for a home pc?

Being gold certified yes. Gold and platinum certified psu's put off less heat and don't draw nearly as much power as a bronze or unrated psu. I don't run anything less then gold on any of my set ups. Less power consumption the easier it is on the components inside it is safe to say gold and platinum psu's should last longer as well.

Can i plug this into a 24 pin mobo?

I have a large tower case will the cables reach everything?I have 3 drives near the bottom of my case.

I just recently started using a full sized discontinued Thermaltake case. I have not had an issues with cables not reaching. You really shouldn't have any issues needing extensions. And the psu comes with plenty of extra cables if you are upgrading or just need a spare. Very solid psu. Currently running a sapphirer vapor-x r9 290 and have not had any issues.

My ASUS MOBO has a feature EPU Power Supply Mode. Can I use this feature with this power supply?

Short answer, yes. However, whether using EPU Power Supply Mode will be useful is the bigger question. Depending on the model and MB drivers available, EPU can either enhance power saving or make your system unstable. Any dependable power supply can be used. CAUTION: Do not use EPU if you overclock your CPU or RAM.

I am replacing a Corsair 430W power supply in a Corsair Carbide 200R case - the dimensions appear slightly greater so will this PS fit?

From looking at the dimensions it should fit but double check. You'll have to measure the PSU area to ensure it will actually fit. PSU: 5.9" (L) x 6.7" (W) x 3.4" (H) Case: 16.90" (L) x 8.30" (W) x 19.60" (H)

Will the 750w model support 970 sli with a core i5 4690k? The newegg product info for the 7509w says haswell compatable: no, but that doesn't make sense if it supports skylake.

750 would be cutting it close - as long as your running one card - you should be okay - close to the limit, but okay
