2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service

This review is from: Cooler Master V750 – Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold PSU with Modular Molex/SATA Cables (SLI/CrossFire Ready)

Pros: semi-modular, powerful, quiet.

Cons: Very large, too many extra cables that cannot be removed.

Other Thoughts: I had this power supply for less than 2 months when it completely died. I came home from work it was working and when I got home from dinner nothing. It was connected to a surge protector and there was no power outages or bad weather at the time.

Going through Coolermaster's Customer Service has been on of the worst experiences ever. When you call their Customer Service line you are asked to leave a message and someone will call you back. They don't call back. I had to register for a Coolermaster account to Live Chat with a rep. He informed me that it could take almost a week to get a return shipping label for the defective product and they would only send the replacement after they received the defective one. After voicing my disappointment about the slowness of their program he told me that there was an Advanced RMA Program and referred me to the same telephone number that I had spent hours calling previously. I proceeded to tell the rep this he told me that if I called RIGHT NOW they would answer and they finally did. How ridiculous. I had to give the rep on the phone my credit card info in order to expedite the whole thing. This was almost a week ago and I have not received my replacement or even an email saying that the replacement was been shipped or processed. It took me going through the same live chat program to find out that they are shipping it out today (supposedly).

Maybe I am being overly critical but I feel like there should be a more prompt and courteous response when a brand new product fails. Especially products that consumers heavily rely on like computers.

Furthermore, until this replacement psu comes in I just have to cross my fingers and hope that when the psu failed that it did not fry my brand new motherboard as well.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Stephanie M,

We do apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the V750 power supply. We also apologize that you are not happy with our RMA process but it is normal practice for a customer to send back the defective product first before the replacement is shipped out. To relieve down time for our customers we do offer Advanced RMA. Since we are shipping out the replacement product first with an Advanced RMA, you will not receive the tracking number by email. If we were to do this, it would close your RMA before we were able to receive the defective product.

Regarding our phones, please make sure you are calling us during our business hours that are posted on our website. Its possible that you called after we were close which is why you were forwarded to our voice mail as this won't happen when we are open.

We normally do not give out return shipping labels so this was most likely given out as a courtesy. It should only take about 1-2 business days for you to receive this by email.

Please contact me with your RMA number so that I may provide you with an update.

Respectfully,
Patrick

5 out of 5 eggsCompact Size

This review is from: Cooler Master V750 – Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold PSU with Modular Molex/SATA Cables (SLI/CrossFire Ready)

Pros: Small size. I bought this because of its size. Moved my old EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED E-ATX motherboard to a Lian Li V700 case. This PSU allowed me the clearance I need in order to connect the sata cables to the motherboard. That 5.50" size was the factor in my compact build.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Quality

This review is from: Cooler Master V750 – Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold PSU with Modular Molex/SATA Cables (SLI/CrossFire Ready)

Pros: Quiet. Efficient. I had to check it to make sure its running.

Cons: No so far. Not fully modular but I knew that before buying.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to power a new video card. My old power supply (not Coolermaster) did not give me the confidence that It would work with a more modern card (R9 280). I put this in a Coolermaster HAF XB. It doesn't line up just right. I wish that case came with a flat panel in the back instead of the extended bracket.

3 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for

This review is from: Cooler Master V750 – Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold PSU with Modular Molex/SATA Cables (SLI/CrossFire Ready)

Pros: * Pretty compact
* I hear the internals are pretty decent

Cons: * Loud coil whine. Could be fan rattle, but every time it energizes the mobo there is this high frequency whine that doesn't really go away even after heating.
* The EATX 12V 8pin cable can be too short
* Not fully modular.

Other Thoughts: With a Challenger U3 case and ASUS Z97-A mobo, the EATX 12V 8pin cable was a bit short threading it around the back of the mobo backplate in the case and would have rubbed on the 4th RAM slot on the mobo if I was using that slot...

I swapped this out with a Corsair HX750 I had on hand due to the coil whine it was making while testing the build. The CM V750 also didn't cut power to mobo after the rocker switch was hit; I had to unplug the PSU from the mains to kill power to mobo.

Not sure if I am going to go for a return or to use it in something else with a higher ambient noise level.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Cowbert,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you had with our power supply. This is definitely not normal behavior from our V series. Would you be able to contact us asap so we can get this replaced and rectify the situation by taking advantage of the warranty it carries which is 5 years?

Respectfully,
