4 out of 5 eggsSolid Product, although this is an RMA replacement

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Good Quality Power, CoolerMaster has a good replacement policy, although they are a little slow getting out the replacement parts.
Quiet fan

Cons: Slow RMA process.

Other Thoughts: I used a Silent Pro Gold 1200W to run bitcoin miners, I will admit, it was abused. I ran it at a solid 1050W-1150W for about a year before it gave up the ghost on a particularly warm day. These are pretty well constructed units. You can get better, but for the money, these are solid.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY - Cooler Master is NOT honoring warranties anymore

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: NONE. Worked for a few months at most before dying.

Cons: Died after less than a year of light usage.
Would shut down my computer when powering two GTX 980s in SLI.

Other Thoughts: I have sent this power supply for RMA a few months ago and have yet to receive another power supply.

The forum is FILED with similar complaints of people not receiving their power supply even after 3-4 months; but you don't have to believe me, just take a look for yourself!

I will NEVER buy Cooler Master's products again, and neither should you.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Modular

Cons: DOA. How about some quality control for a supposedly "flagship model" especially with the price point. RMA request submitted.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of doing a refund, high dollar items should not be DOA! Industry standards should not allow this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU from a great Company.

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Powerful, Efficient, Runs Cool, Eye Candy, Modular, Very Stable voltages.
Good support from Cooler Master

Cons: It doesn't mow the lawn, yet.

Other Thoughts: I previously had the Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200 PSU in my main PC. After 4 years it went south. I asked and Cooler Master was gracious enough to offer me the even better V1200 Platinum as a replacement.

Lack of adequate power is the number one cause of PC lockups. Always ensure your PSU is providing plenty of clean power to your components and you will be rewarded with reliability not only in function, but also in longevity. A good UPS is a must too, as nothing harms electronics more than unstable A/C power, which is pretty much the norm in the USA.

Unlike most users I run some huge rigs for my computing. It is not uncommon for me two install two PSU's in my PC's to ensure enough power. Since the advent of 1200 watt and larger PSU's this is no longer necessary. My current PC is a relatively light duty one. It has 2 x 512GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD's (one internal & one externally swappable) , 4 x internal 3.5" hard drives, 6 x swappable external 3.5" hard drive bays, 34 external USB hard drives,a few of which draw power only from the USB port. Dual Blu-Ray/DVDR/CDR, 2 EVGA GTX-780Ti SC Graphics, and liquid cooling. Finally, a i7-4790K CPU. All these components can draw a huge amount of power. This PC has never hiccuped.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure after 10 days of light use

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Looks nice, I like that the eco switch can be made accessible from a PCI slot cover.

Cons: Failed after 10 days, registered for rebate and 3 months later it only just entered "processing" status.

Other Thoughts: V1200 Platinum. Bought this unit for a new build, but before it was done my older PC went down. As a stopgap I decided to break in the psu I had just ordered. Sure, it was overkill (old build needed maybe 700w at full load) but figured it would work to get me back up and running. Turns out this thing burned out after 10 days of light use. It would reboot, i'd hear the telltale SNAP of the power overload protection kick in, repeat. Pulled it out, it was nearly too hot to touch. Replaced it with an EVGA Supernova, problem stopped.

On another note, I bought this in April, registered for the rebate and mailed it right away. It is now mid July, and before last week it was listed as "not yet received". It is now "processing" Don't hold your breath waiting for your rebates from CM. I'm not looking forward to the RMA process, not that I'll consider using it as anything but an emergency backup if I do get it.

Manufacturer Response:

Good Morning Michael,

Our rebates are processed and handled by a third party called status-now.com as it can take 10-12 weeks for processing as soon as they receive it. I do not have any information to assist you. Please contact them at the following number: 1-800-953-3098 regarding your rebate for further resolution.

You can also apply for an RMA Request through our CM Fanzone along with your purchase invoice and serial number at the following links below.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU DOA as is CM RMA!

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: PSU was dead on arrival. Their RMA department has been unreachable.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy another Cooler Master product!

Manufacturer Response:

Good Afternoon Rudy,

I apologize your power supply is not working correctly as we are available to contact through our CM Fanzone for an RMA Request along with your purchase invoice and serial number at the link below. You can also contact us via phone, live chat, and support ticket. Be sure to keep in mind when you call us make sure to dial for "Support" not RMA as that is a Business to Business department.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Very stable power, nice and quiet, and the modular design helps cut down on excess uneeded wires. Comes in a very professional looking (though ultimately wasteful) fabric bag, and velcro bags for the varying modular cables.

Cons: None really, although it would be nice to have more complete documentation describing various wiring configurations and uses for the various connections provided.

Other Thoughts: Although a ton of modular wires come in the box, it would be nice for a few other more common singular cables were provided (such as one for a single 4-pin 5.25" Molex, one for just case fans, and a few varying lengths of the cables provided).

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost Idiot Proof

This review is from: Cooler Master V1200 - Fully Modular 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Silent Fanless Mode Operation (6th Generation Skylake Compatible)

Pros: Conforms to ATX form factor... it will fit where any generic PS would. Modular cables easily cut to custom length and remove excess connectors. Able to survive repeated power cycles with dead short between 12V and ground.

Cons: None (yet).

Other Thoughts: Pay close attention to which six pin connector you use to power your MOTHERBOARD. Apparently, using a PCIe cable is not a good idea. Fortunately, the PS survived until I became more intelligent.
