Other Thoughts: I bought my previous one in October of 2013 but had never tried using eSAT although the hardware was included.

This time I installed the eSAT connector and the cable and here is the difference in speed:

I ran an Acronis backup using USB 2.0 and it took 47 minutes.

Then I ran the same backup using eSAT and it took 9 minutes.

Now I wish my other Rosewill enclosures had that feature.

I now have seven of these enclosures and love 'em.

Pros: Have two of these, one of which I've had for 6+ years. Still working well, no fan issues.

Other Thoughts: When you use your own HDD it beats a lot of the ready to go external drives available

Pros: I like these enclosures. Easy to setup. rugged and nice looking. I've been using a couple for quite a few years now, swapping new drives in I need more space.

Cons: I had a USB port fail on an enclosure I've had for years. That aside, never a glitch.

Pros: Materials are of good quality, good construction, feels sturdy and very cool to touch.

Cons: Does take a few minutes to install a hard drive due to removing side panels and screws, but not too bad. I've used a couple of these, and the latest one had the fan hole on the wrong side, so had to rotate it to align with the case fan, so make sure that is aligned else you wont get much cooling benefit from the fan.

Other Thoughts: My friend has been using this in his auto shop for years now, running alldata and ondemand through this, previous portable hard drive (wd passport 500gb) setup burned out after a short time because in summer, the shop would reach at least 90+ degrees F.

Other Thoughts: Picked this up after one of my network drives enclosures power supplies fried. Didn't need the instructions to install since everything was pretty intuitive. Works as expected but geez those LEDs! You'd think you were at a laser light show, especially when the HDD LED is flickering from activity. The fan could stand to be a little quieter but for the on-sale price, can't really complain. It works well. I only took off one combined star for the two cons. If only one con existed, I would've given 5 stars because of the overall value.

Pros: Looks & feels like a high quality enclosure. I like the rocker switch to power it up. Fan is quiet & can be turned on & off.

Cons: No cons really.

Other Thoughts: No problem seeing the blue lights, They are very bright.

Pros: Fastest method of backup (excluding using SSD) - Disk to disk using sSATA. Well designed sturdy enclosure.

Other Thoughts: I use this to backup my laptop and anytime I need a backup but do not want to overwrite and existing backup I have as in doing extended testing. Also the eSATA works perfectly in Linux.
