4 out of 5 eggsNice PSU Cables too short

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Nice unit, The LEDS add to the looks of the case.

Cons: Not Modular, Cables too short even when installed in a Rosewill case. The 20 -pin connector and the ATX cable are too short. The ATX had to run across the MOBO and the Connector cable cannot be hidden so it runs along the case wall and it too is almost too short to work as well. A many complaints about this Rosewill should have corrected it by now.

Other Thoughts: Rosewill should send everyone that complained cable extensions. Looks like I will have to pay another $15 to get an 8" extension cable for the ATX cable. Not happy about this.

3 out of 5 eggsRosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Worked great for almost 3 years with very little load on it... Intel i5 2500, 1 cpu fan 1 92mm system fan.... no external GPU, and not a gaming PC by any means.... so its life was very easy.... 3 eggs for the 3 years of use

Cons: Died after almost 3 years technically......... It would work until an hour or so (varied a lot), the screen would start to flicker and would restart the PC

Other Thoughts: Don't think I will buy Rosewill again, and it only had 1 year warranty... only Rosewill Brand part that was on the 3 year old build..........

Replaced with a EVGA 600W Bronze rated... and it has a 3 year warranty, hoping for at least 5 years out of that if I got almost 3 from the Rosewill....

Rosewill isn't a bad product, but its life span is pretty short for the easy life it had.

1 out of 5 eggsGood Value - Short 12v Cable

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Fans are quiet and PSU is a good value. Cables are well wrapped and tidy. Overall good construction

Cons: 8 pin Eatx12V CPU power cable length too short for mid-tower case and ATX motherboard build combination. (Rosewill Blackhawk case / Asus a88x-pro ). Have to pay for cable extension.

Other Thoughts: Did a DIY test bed build and PSU works fine. Had to RMA another part of my build therefore delaying completion.

Realized the too short cable problem when assembling my PC now after 30 days. Too late to RMA the PSU.

Ordered cable extension and now annoyingly waiting for it to get my investment working. This PSU is not right for full size ATX mobo / mid tower and larger case combinations

Hope this is helpful

2 out of 5 eggsLooks great, Cables are short!

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Matches the LED blue light of my Rosewell Galaxy case (which is a very nice case, go buy it!) Good cost for a 500 watt supply, quiet!

Cons: Really, loved my Rosewell case so much, and really was disappointed with this power supply almost as much. the Cables we all a little short, but the 8 pin 12 volt CPU power cable makes this product of the the box terrible. Without a video card, the 8 pin cable hardly Made it to the CPE power input on my Haswell board, once I inserted my video card, it was 3 inches short to even plug in. I had to order a 8 pin 12 volt extender to get my computer up and powered with a video card. Overall very disappointed I had so much issue with something so simple.

Other Thoughts: Sadly, Getting the matching power supply to match my case ended up being a lot of trouble. If you order it, get a 8 pin 12 volt extender if the motherboard/Processor requires this plug in when ordering.

3 out of 5 eggsShort ATX Power cable!

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: The cool led on the fan is a nice touch, everything sorted and labeled properly.

Cons: I had problems getting my ATX power cable to reach my motherboard. I wasnt actually able to use this pw supply with my build. I had to redeem my Corsair 650w out of my last case. The cables have this goldish-black wrapping around them that makes it look cheap, spend the extra and get a nicer modular power supply.

2 out of 5 eggsGetting louder every day

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: It works

Cons: Very loud for the first 5 or 10 minutes

Other Thoughts: I was satisfied with this PS after installing it. I could hear it over the cpu fan and 2 case fans, but it wasn't that bothersome. Over the past 3 weeks it has been getting slightly louder every day. Now when I turn my PC on it is very loud and I can feel my whole desk vibrating. After 5 or 10 minutes it does settle down to acceptable vibration and noise levels. Monday I'll head over to Best Buy and pick up an Antec PS and keep this PS as a temporary backup in case of future failures. I'm not willing to go without a PC during the RMA process so there is no need for a response from Rosewill CS.

1 out of 5 eggsIt died :(

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: It worked for 3 days.
Pretty blue lights.
Well made.
Enough connections for me.
Cable length good for my mid tower.

Cons: It died after third use.

Other Thoughts: I like Rosewill brand items but this is the first power supply I have bought from them. Not impressed so far. Maybe I just got the one that was bugged. RMAed now just have to WAIT. Hope the next one is a keeper.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Supply seems decently made.
psu fans work in conjunction with my existing fan setup.
Cables are mesh rapped and makes for a clean install where you cant get away with tucking.
Had all the connectors i need to make my system run.

Cons: -1 egg for combination of everything
Blue leds in psu dont match up with my Blue apevia fans or the led strips i purchased
Company fails to tell you this psu is designed for top mount in case. It will still work in bottom position but rosewell label is upside down if fan is upside right...or vise versa.
I used a micro atx board which put my 24 pin connector at top front of fullsize desktop case(apevia x-sniper 2) and 4pin processor plug at top rear. It was a tight stretch to get both cables to reach voiding the idea of a complete wire tuck.
Some leads have pigtails on them (ie 12v 4pin and 12v 8pin) meaning when you plug in 4pin you are stuck with a 3" pigtail off of that connector w/ 8pin plug on it, again making it hard to get that clean tuck.

Other Thoughts: All cons were cosmetic preferences and do not affect the physical ability of this power supply at all.
Using PSU with:
Apevia X-sniper 2 case
Dig43L mb
Pent dual core 2.8ghz processor oc'd to 3.2ghz
500gb samsung hdd
Asus gt630 128bit 2gb ddr3 gpu
