5 out of 5 eggsReliable and space effective

Pros: 7 usb 2.0 hub for under $25.00, who can beat that? So far I have not had any problems with this device so far, I use it for charging my ipod, logitech headset, connecting my headset, connecting my g13 game pad and g19 keyboard.

Cons: If only the connecting usb cable was just a tad bit longer!

Other Thoughts: Due to the nature of usb hubs, just know that charging devices get better results plugging them into a power adapter or the computer directly.

1 out of 5 eggsCAUTION

Pros: LEDs work?

Cons: No input power requirements listed on hub. Supplied power supply is 12VDC. Plugged it in, inserted USB stick- no response. Previously working USB key no longer works in any computer. Thinking I was crazy, grabbed another old USB stick. Verified it worked, plugged into the hub. No response. Plugged into another computer and it's dead. I've seen no mention of this in the reviews. I suspect that this should have a 5VDC power supply, so tread carefully if yours comes with 12VDC. At the very least, back up your data!

Other Thoughts: As cheap as it is, it's not worth the boxing and RMAing and shipping associated.

1 out of 5 eggsFried several peripherals

Pros: Worked for a little while...

Cons: I purchased this to give me more ports for my MAME arcade machine and unfortunately, it fried them. It ruined the joystick and light guns that I had plugged into it...It even started to melt the IR sensor bar for the arcade guns on the top of my monitor. I'm afraid what might have happened if I had left it on unattended for any length of time.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother one bites the dust

Pros: It worked for a little which was great.

Cons: It died on me after about 3 weeks of use. I tried it on different laptops and it was just dead.

Other Thoughts: I probably could of returned it but it wouldn't of been worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Has 7 downstream ports. Good luck trying to find another USB hub with 7 downstream ports for $20 or less. This is my second one. the first i bought was to charge my ps3 controllers. I have had it for over 3 years and still works great. I just bought a second for my pc.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsUnderpowered, fire hazard, computer damage

Pros: The form factor is nice.

Cons: The manual for the USB hub indicates 7 ports with a maximum of 500mA each. This is a total of 3.5A. The A/C adapter included is only rated for an output of 2A. When I plugged in 4 devices, drawing 500mA each, the A/C adapter was hot enough to cause burns after touching for a few seconds. I contacted Rosewill support who first said that the remaining 1.5A would come from the connected PC. I pointed out that this is wrong, since USB 1.0 and 2.0 specifies a maximum of 500mA, so this hub also risks damaging the connected PC. Rosewill support then responded that I was correct and that this hub cannot power all 7 ports at 500mA, and the the solution was to buy their 10 port hub. Looking now at their 10 port hub, it is also underpowered for supporting all ports at 500mA. I have found other hubs that include a sufficient A/C adapter to safely power the USB ports, but Rosewill appears to be selling dangerous products.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Self installs. Nice sleek design, still works over a year later. Comes with power cable, if you're gonna be charging with it (use common sense people). Power light. Activity light. Smooth plug-in and removal. Sweet spot grip (not too tight or loose). Really couldn't do better ($20 on sale).

Cons: Wasn't free? Occasionally disconnects peripherals if you plug in a large flash drive (they come back on re-connect).

Other Thoughts: Light is indeed fairly bright. Haven't had a single problem with any Rosewill device so far. Docking stations, cases, power supplies, tools, headsets, cables, accessories. Rosewill responds to most 1-egg reviews.
