4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU With Caveats

Pros: Provides power at 1300w for a reasonable $.
Nice implementation of a semi-modular design.
Comes with plenty of peripheral cabling.
Capable of supplying power to multiple GPUs.

Cons: This model is essentially a replica of the ABS Tagan 1300w. This is a con because there are some differences. Namely, the SATA power cables provided by the Rosewill are not identical. 2 have 4 SATA plugs, while the other has 2 plus another 2 molex. These cables are roughly 4 inches shorter than those provided by the ABS Tagan model. This meant I was forced to use extensions and molex>SATA adapters, as my TJ-07's HDD bays are too wide to make effective use of all the out of the box SATA cables.

Since this model's internal specs are identical to the Tagan, I can safely say one other con is that the fan WILL fail after 6 months to a year. This is a royal PITA, as it takes a non-standard size replacement. I used a Silverstone AP141 139mm replacement, which after hours of careful research, I determined would fit. It did not, however, comply with the non-standard 2pin stock fan, so I had to route the fan's cable through the 24pin outlet. This did not seem to negatively effect the PSU, as it ran fine like this for around another year.

A final gripe (somewhat of a con) is that since this is basically a reproduction of the Tagan model, its build quality is bound to be very similar. Mine lasted four years (darn near to the day). The reason for this was heat. Even with the stock fan this unit does get relatively hot, and as such, this is why the fan suffers so much. That said, I'm far more confident in Rosewill's ability to remain open for business in 5 years to honor any warranty.

Other Thoughts: Further differences from the ABS Tagan are slightly different PCIe GPU cabling. In fact, some are not modular, but others are. Not a con, just a difference.

There is no grounding wire (as was present in the Tagan).

CPU cables are roughly 3 inches shorter, which meant they just barely reached my MOBO's top mounted CPU power connecter in a TJ-7. This wouldn't be an issue in a ATX case that didn't segregate the mobo from the PSU/HDD (as in the TJ-7).

Overall, I was relatively happy with the Tagan, and hopefully I'll be content with Rosewill's nearly identical version. An astute reader might also wonder why I didn't simply re-use the cables from the Tagan to remedy their shorter length. In fact, I could have (and did just for testing), but I wanted to replace it all for good measure.

This review may be moot. It appears the Lightning 1300 is discontinued (I may have gotten the last one since as soon as I got mine it went out of stock). If it comes back, then I guess it wasn't a total waste of my time.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked well for 3 weeks then failed

Pros: Nice modular cables, fan light is switchable, plenty of power connections, and a beefy power cord (I wouldn't try to run this on the skinny cable your dell came with)

Cons: I have a setup with 4 7970ghz editions, factory oc to 1100mhz and a quad ready mobo. The TDP of the 7970 GHz is 250W, so 4 in my system, combined with the high end motherboard, single ssd, and lowly i3 calculated out to an estimated 1300W or so.

Anyway, as this computer sees 100% VGA load (hopefully) 24/7 the power supply is undoubtedly under a lot of stress, but this one is blatantly advertized as "Capable of delivering continuous 1300W power" which crazy ol' me interpreted as "outputs 1300W 24/7."

System completely failed after working flawlessly for a week or two (not even 24/7 mind you, I was still ironing out kinks) would auto restart as I tried to start using all 4 cards. Removing two would allow work to continue as normal. I bought another much more expensive PSU locally that has a handy USB interface that shows you all sorts of cool stuff like input voltage, input wattage, current draws, etc.. The main one I was interested in was the output wattage, which reads 1250W under full load. My system is within the rated capacity of this power supply, yet it failed.

This is on a bench too, not in a case. While the cards get hot, the power supply is mounted in a completely different compartment of the test bench. Well under the hot cards, in nice cool open air.

Other Thoughts: Probably still a decent power supply for a gaming rig that won't see 24/7 loads, but I sure wouldn't take that risk on my computers...

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Plenty of power, quiet, and cool looking LED's

Cons: Even with the modular power supply I still find I have a few almost unused cables that I can't do much about. (really minor)

Other Thoughts: Perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsPerforms very well!

Pros: This can handle 4x AMD Radeon 7950's in one PC easily.
A very nice modular cable design.
Operates fairly cool under load.

Cons: Haven't had any issues with it.

Other Thoughts: My mining rig has 4x AMD Radeon 7950's, one 32GB SSD, and 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM. I probably have about 200W to spare with this current configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome P/S

Pros: Runs 3 Gigabyte 7970 GHZ Edition cards flawlessly. Kill-A-Watt says the entire rig is running at about 1030w with all 3 cards at 99% usage. Gigabyte UD5 motherboard, 64gb SSD, and a Netgear USB WiFi are all that's plugged in other than the cards. Comes with a copious amount of cables to screw in to the modular plugs.

Cons: None functionally. Would be cool if the cable bundle that's attached to the PSU was all modular. Pretty much the same comment as tons of other people.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 identical rigs, both with the Rosewill Lightning P/S running about 1030w continuously. So far no issues at all.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: A lot of power, good value, looks nice.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: CPU cabe was almost a little too short, but I was able to make it work without straining anything so not really a big deal.
