Cons: Dead. that's it. it took me a month to realize it because I had nothing to test it on until I got help from someone else. I didn't know what I was doing at the time, so the jokes kinda on me.

3 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB - 450-Watt ATX V2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Looks well made. What i can see of the parts inside looks ok. Nice cable wraps. Voltages look stable so far.

Cons: One of the middle of the wire SATA drive connectors is UPSIDE DOWN! this makes it impossible to connect two devices that are near each other without flipping something over.

Easily done in my case. But for a lot of setups that would be impossible.

Two of the rear screw holes are stripped out.
No big deal but still...

-2 stars total for those two things.

Other Thoughts: So far so good. Good price. Got here asap took 2 days total!

It was an emergency replacement for my previous power supply which blew a cap after 3 years of 24-7 use.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB - 450-Watt ATX V2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Looks nice. Wires wrap looks good. It was not DOA so that is always a plus. Cant really say to much about a 35 dollar power supply.

Cons: 8 pin cable was not long enough to be run through my cable runs. Had to do a straight shot out of the PSU to the 8 pin on my MOBO.

Other Thoughts: Would have been nice if they included the screws to mount it to the case. I had several around so not a big deal to me.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Reliable Enough For Me

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB - 450-Watt ATX V2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Well; it worked for 1 year and 1 month.

Cons: Big Deal; I could of used a $30 power supply and gotten this kind of longevity. I will no longer be using this brand in my Business machines, as far as I'm concerned - - - - Thermaltake is the brand that I will now use for all of my Business PC's.

Other Thoughts: Needless To Say - - - I Am Not Happy!
One of my business customers called me this morning about
their 1 year old computer that I built for them on 11-26-2013.
When I repaired today; this Power Supply was dead, and I will
eat the cost of the repair - - - - - To Save Face.
I replaced this unreliable junker with a Thermaltake P.S. which cost me $39.99.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you very much for purchasing this unit.
We strive to provide the most reliable and highest quality products to our customers.

Thanks for the feedback. We will pass it along to our QA and Design teams for further investigation.

5 out of 5 eggs5 Years of Service

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB - 450-Watt ATX V2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Has enough cables for most uses
Is quiet
Doesn't build excessive heat

Cons: The cables can be stiff and a little difficult to position, making this a poor choice for smaller cases.
One cable is live and uncovered and in my case, would shut it down when it touched the case. (I never determined what it was supposed to power)

Other Thoughts: I used this power supply for 5 years with little trouble but for some wrangling of the cables to keep them from resting on my video card or pressing against the motherboard.

I had to replace it earlier this year due to some of the cables developing shorts and no longer providing full power to several components including my boot drive, my optical drive, and I think my motherboard, too.

If you have good space in your case and aren't planning to upgrade too often, this should be a solid power supply for most needs. If you're going to be going inside to upgrade or replace components to keep up to date, however, the cables stiffness might cause issues, and maneuvering them might be what caused mine to eventually short out.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted just 5 yrs

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB - 450-Watt ATX V2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, cheap, wire sleeves.

Cons: This PS lasted just a little over 5 yrs before it died today. I bought this originally to ensure there was plenty of power for a newer video card and memory upgrades (the OEM was 255W and noisy). Our PC is used for normal everyday computing and we are not gamers so I expected this to last more than 5 yrs. I replaced it with my OEM PS and now the PC powers up just fine.

Other Thoughts: I am tempted to buy another one of these since I really liked the one I bought and never had any issues until today. However, chances are I'll probably buy a different brand.

5 out of 5 eggsHave used several since 2008

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB - 450-Watt ATX V2.2 Power Supply

Pros: I've used this unit in multiple builds starting in 2008. I have never had one fail. I just recently sold the original unit I bought back in 2008 which was still 100% functional.

Cons: I would prefer a modular PSU for better cable management, but that's a minor gripe.

Other Thoughts: It's always important to have reliable PSU. If a PSU dies, sometimes it can take your entire build with it and if can destroy components attached to it. This unit is my go-to for mid-level builds (business/office/light-mid gaming). This card wont be powering multiple SLI/Crossfire cards or 8 hard drives in RAID, but it will cover most of your every needs.
