All these are enclosed in a flat black housing with multitudinous ventilation holes and a 120mm cooling fan. The smart temperature sensor intelligently adjusts the fan speed according to the system temperature for minimized operation noise. For an added bit of style, the fans are equipped with blue LEDs for an otherworldly look when operating.

5 out of 5 eggs7 years and still going

Pros: bought this unit in mid 2008 and it's still going. has been running 24/7 for the past 7 years + and is still working. upgraded my graphics card to a gtx960 and experienced random restarts in the middle of playing games. after a lot of research I decided to upgrade to a photon 750 psu. it soldved this issue.

Cons: it didn't like my new gtx960

Other Thoughts: very good unit, will probably use in another low end build. wires seem higher quality than the new 750 photon I purchased.

2 out of 5 eggsShort life span

Pros: pretty solid performance for two years, never oc'd, xfired, or pushed its wattage limits so I'll never know how the psu would have preformed in those conditioned. I only had it installed in a very basic enviroment

Cons: As of today it has developed an alarming whine/screech that upon research could be extreme coil whine or capacitor(s) failing. I've seen psu's take out other components before so this psu is officially dead to me and I will replace it with a different brand soon. Unfortunately due to this experience, Rosewill has lost a customer.

Other Thoughts: Only a 1 year warranty, you get what you pay for. I emailed Rosewill today simply to notify them of the failure, in case they were interested.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked for 4 years, then BANG

Pros: I used this in a build for my media room, where the machine was nearly always on, and had daily reboots. Worked great for the time that I had it.

Cons: After I switched out the PCU in my main computer to my media one, because it was beginning to cut into my wallet having 4+ computers on at all times, I put this PCU (product review item) in a personal computer in one of my offices, and after about a month of average uptime, it actually started my computer on fire. Like, flames. Smoke. Very loud electrical pops coming from my mainboard.
Yes, the problem was PSU based. No, the manufacturer could not have prevented this.
The current was too much for the 12v connector on the MB and it fried the port with a real bang.
These things have life spans, and are not really meant as permanent installs. (depending on your average machine lifespan)
Mine had a hearty life, with many hours of uptime.
Just wish it hadn't have ruined my new media cause!

Other Thoughts: I cannot say anything else negative about this PSU. It worked for the low amount of wattage I needed, and after 3 years of near constant uptime, it died a kings death.

4 out of 5 eggssolid PSU

Pros: * braided connectors
* nice blue light
* good price

Cons: * 8 pins connector too short for my set-up : it run just under the graphic card to reach top left of the mobo. Everything else is long enough to have good cable management. I removed one egg for this.

4 out of 5 eggsGot it in a bundle

Pros: -True 500 watt
-Will run most higher end cards

Cons: -Non Modular

Other Thoughts: I got this in a DIYPC Superbundle - but am not using it in my main pc. I exchanged an older PSU with this one in my other PC. Seems to be doing everything a PSU should do. I've docked an egg because of how cheap it feels, although this isn't meant to be a higher end PSU.

It's currently pushing; EVGA GTX 760; Phenom II X4 965BE; Mid ATX Motherboard; with 5 fans.

3 out of 5 eggsGood value budget product.

Pros: -Good price
-Braided nice connectors
-Would buy again.

Cons: -Nothing detaches, all wires unused have to be tied up and attempted to get out of way.
-Nothing extra, do not try to use this with 4g cards, or SLI. It has just enough connections for a few fans and a graphics card on a budget gaming PC.

5 out of 5 eggsMy most reliable computer part

Pros: 7 years of service and still running fine

Cons: Not modular, but nothing a few zip ties doesn't fix right away in terms of cable management

Other Thoughts: I was just looking into some computer upgrades, and I realized that I've used this same power supply since I first built my own computer after xmas in January of 2008. I've always enjoyed having a budget gaming PC and general workstation and this power supply has delivered again and again over the past 7 years between several computer overhaul upgrades, so this review is long overdue.

The only reason I need to stop using this PSU is because I'm upgrading my computer with several new parts that are a little power-hungry so the 500W unfortunately won't cut it anymore, but this power supply will definitely feel right at home still getting used on my electronics projects workbench.
