2 out of 5 eggsnowhere near 950 Watts

Pros: 1. functioned adequately for 4 years, drawing much less than 950 Watts
2. didn't ruin any other components when it failed
3. cute puff of bluish-grey smoke when it failed

Cons: Recently, when I finally put a significant load on it from an AMD R9 270X, it died within a month of use.

Other Thoughts: Maybe you would give it more credit for lasting as long as it did, but I won't. A Thermaltake PSU rated at just 850W is currently powering the same hardware, with no problems at all. I knew better than to cheap out on the PSU. Don't repeat my mistake. Avoid this bargain brand, especially for important components like the PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsRX950-S-B 80+ Certified

Pros: Price was good at the time of purchase
Stated 80 Plus Certified power supply.
I believe I spent about $100.

Cons: I'm not a big fan of 4-12volt rails but it seemed to do the job.

Other Thoughts: When you are buying PSU's, once you get your item, go to underwriters lab's website & type the UL# in the search field. If it doesn't show up, the UL# on the sticker is a fake number, or it's not a UL tested or certified item. This one didn't show up on the UL site. Other than that, I never ran into problems with it & even though I bought high priced MB & CPU, it seemed to always work just fine.
About the 4- 12volt rails, I never opened it up to see if they were 4 rails but since this purchase I went to another brand because I wanted to make sure that the heart of the build was top notch & a trusted brand.
I also started to change by desktop builds. Now I either use SSD's, or notebook HDD's. Regular notebook HDD's use 50% less power than the same size, RPM in a regular 3.5" HDD. So going with the 2.5" HDD's, It helps when running more than 1 drive. Good to know right???. SSD's are even a better plus when you're building a tower...... Remember the rule of thumb, your system is only as fast as the slowest piece of hardware... Cheers....

2 out of 5 eggsPower problems after 3.5 years

Pros: Good capacity for the price

Cons: Power available has severely decreased after roughly 3.5 years. I'm now attempting to return the unit under warranty.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU for the entirety of the warranty... then problems started happening

Pros: - More than enough wattage for any level of enthusiast gamer
- Shiny lights
- 3 year warranty
- 80 Plus Certified
- Cables wrapped in mesh for improved airflow
- Plenty of connections for SLI/Crossfire setup, multiple optical drives and multiple storage drives

Cons: - Cable length for (1 x 4Pin ATX12V Connector [secondary motherboard power connection]) leaves quite a bit to be desired - required adapter added just enough cable length to reach the connection on motherboard (see below)
- Also, concerning the the 1 x 4Pin ATX12V Connector, my motherboard required an 8Pin ATX12V connector, so I had to use an adapter

Other Thoughts: Had the PSU for 3 1/2 years and it just started having problems. Emitting a high-ptiched whine during gaming and then forcing a shutdown. Has ran constantly for my entire ownership of the PSU with the same setup, for the most part. Specs below:

- AMD Phenon II X4 965 Black
- 2x HIS Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 (Crossfired)
- 16GB DDR3 1333
- GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 AM3 AMD 890FX
- 2 x Western Digital WD AV-GP WD10EVDS 1TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s (Raid 0)
- Cooler Master HAF X + Fully loaded w/ case fans

The powerload of my system isn't going to tax the PSU hardly at all...especially since it's supposed to be outputting 950W.

It's possible the fan on the PSU is starting to fail, and even when it's not emitting a whine, it is noisier now than when it I first installed it.

Either way I probably won't be buying a Rosewill again. Might try a Cooler Master next, as I'm very happy with the case construction.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked good until today

Pros: Worked great for over 3 years!

Cons: Burned out (literally caught fire) right after 3-year warranty was up, and took some of my gear with it.

4 out of 5 eggs3 years, 2 months - dead

Pros: Quiet, measurable efficiency (80%), lots of connectors

Cons: Dead after 3 years and 2 months! Cables not modular and really thick

Other Thoughts: I expect things to die, but I really expected 5 years out of this PSU. Considering it was $170 at purchase time (9/1/2008), that is a cost of $57/year.

2 out of 5 eggsGood for 3 years, then crackled out

Pros: Looks good, lots of cables, worked well for 3 years.

Cons: Broke hard after three years. I expect PSUs and hard drives to fail, but after only three years?
Plus, the fact that it's not a modular PSU means that the profusion of cables is in your face no matter what.

Other Thoughts: 3 years at 5 stars combined with 0 stars for the rest of time gives 2 stars.
