4 out of 5 eggsDecent for a budget build

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: -Decently priced (payed 80 CAD for mine)
-80 plus bronze
-Still working after almost 3 years
-Sleeved cables.
-Has a high quality feel

Cons: -Wattage advertisement (see other thoughts)
-Not fully modular

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure whether or not I have an old revision of this PSU but looking on the box, mine clearly shows having only 648 watts on the +12v rail. One of the pictures for this particular model on the product page shows 750w for the +12v but that is clearly not the case with the one I have. I'm not sure where discrepancies arose but I've docked an egg due to shoddy advertisement.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Power Supply BUT

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: Works very well voltages are stable under load. Semi Modular design keeps case neat

Cons: I loved the power supply UNTIL... I turned on the TV . We cut the cord last year use an antenna and stream shows online. All works well until the power supply gets under load (ie gaming ,even web browsing) while watching broadcast TV. BAD BAD EMI,RFI,

Tried moving TV and the antenna and it did not help,Checked the downstairs TV and antenna and it interferes way down there too.
I never had this issue with the previous power supply.

My case is Steel and it is well grounded

I have everything plugged into filtered surge suppressors. Which tells me if I am getting this issue all over the house in areas away from the computer that its going thru the wiring in the house.
The building is fairly new Built in 2009 so its not old wiring to blame.

I am giving it 4 eggs as it really does perform as advertised except that it really spews out RFI on the TV bands.

Other Thoughts: I would just replace the power line inlet plug in the power supply with a filtered one but that would void the warranty. It is such a shame that a couple of cheap ferrite coils in the PCB and a filtered AC socket on the PSU would have prevented all this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Power Supply

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: 1. Semi Modular
2. Lasted just over 3 years

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Power supply just died yesterday 06/19/2015 and I confirmed that it was indeed the PSU today. I had to have a new one overnighted and decided to go with a different brand as a result but I would buy another one of these in any time and would have no problem recommending them to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsOne Year Later

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: What's good:
1- Still going strong one year later
2- With Promo code I paid $59.99
3- Quiet fan
4- Japanese main capacitor
5- Single +12v rail
6- 80 Plus Bronze

Cons: What could be better:
1- ALL cables should of been approximately 3" longer
2- Like to see a double ball bearing fan; instead of the extra cables carrying case

Other Thoughts: Unlike the Rosewill RG630-S12 that died under a year's light use this HIVE psu has been powering an oced AMD FX-4100 quadcore CPU (@4.4 GHz/core) and an AMD HD 7850 for a solid year and without any system crashes, or coil whine. At point of purchase I paid $59.99 and so far it was money well spent. Some have posted they got one that was DOA, which my first one was too; however Newegg was quick to send out a replacement! It appears quality control is lacking by several manufacturers , and not just Rosewill. Overall, considering the price I paid vs performance I'd say it's a solid 5 egger.

1 out of 5 eggsafter two year of use....

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: it was a good power supply... until the fan broke

Cons: The fan inside broke. When I heard screeching sound in my computer I turned it off right away. Did not find any piece stuck on my gpu or cpu fan..... who would even have thought that power supply fan that was protected by hives of steel can break?

I have built several computer for myself and others. This is the first power supply that I had bad experience with.

Other Thoughts: I will look for warranty and see if it qualify for exchange. until then, 1 egg from me.

3 out of 5 eggsPower supply burnt out after 3 months.

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: Power Supply is quiet and has modular cables. Good wattage for what i use and has lots of cables for different things like fan controllers.

Cons: Burnt out after 3 months, some connectors are hard to connect into motherboard which makes it feel like you are going to snap your motherboard in half, cables are short which limit cable management.

Other Thoughts: Great power supply for what it is but sucks that it isn't very reliable like mine since it burnt out.

2 out of 5 eggsRosewill Hive-750W

This review is from: Rosewill Hive-750, Hive Series 750W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI & CrossFire Ready

Pros: Fits in my Rosewill case...

Cons: Possibly died after 6 months or so of use.
Rosewill support has not responded to my inquiry about the 3 year warranty on their product and has been almost a week.

Other Thoughts: Now, I'm not 100% sure it is the power supply, but I would need another one to test. I'm about 95% certain it is the PSU. I emailed them about a week ago because on here it seems like they care about their product because when ever they receive a negative review they offer an email to contact for assistance. I skipped the review and went to the email address and inquired about how to make good on their warranty. Have not even received a confirmation that they received my email. Not sure if this is common practice for Rosewill but I'm hoping they will finally get back to me now that I am on here.
