Rosewill RX35-AT-IU SLV Aluminum 3.5" Silver USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: Aluminum case for cooling, drive mounts lined up and fit well. Complete kit with cable and stand.

Cons: Off/On switch is a little stiff and maybe cheesy. Rocker switch would be better.

Other Thoughts: Good product for for price and does the job. Wish they would have spent as much money on the on/off switch as they did on the box it comes in.

Pros: i bought this for my back up dirve and having no problems with it at all it's a nice solid case too.

Cons: Won't power up the HDD. The HDD is good, works with a separate Sabrent IDE / SATA external HD adapter. But the Rosewill RX35 will not power up my Maxtor 80GB IDE HDD. Is this a defective Rosewill RX35, or is this typical, in that i won't power a barely used 7 yr old HDD?

Pros: An attractive case. Setup is simple. My old HD was on the Windows XP platform. Windows 8 picked it right up without any managing.# 1/2 IDE to USB 2

Cons: Haven't found any.

Other Thoughts: Enclosure fitted up tight. No problems.

Pros: Cheap, functional, stand is included.

Cons: The screws arrive from the factory with heads nearly stripped out. Spending a few extra pennies on manufacture could have really made this a much better product.

Other Thoughts: The IDE and power cables inside are rather stiff, particularly the IDE cable, which has to make quite a drastic bend to fit. They work fine, but I'm worried too much flexing might crack them. Combined with the screws coming from the factory with stripped out heads, you'd better just put a hard drive in this and not expect to switch it out very often.

Pros: Easy to setup. Attractive design.

Cons: Frequently fails when copying large files to the device. LED is very bright, but a piece of electrical tape can take care of that.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to store my media library and backups of DVDs. I can transfer small files (photos, MP3s) to the drive, but when the file sizes get large (4GB+), I regularly get an error message about 95% of the way through the transfer. Once a file transfer has failed, I need to force eject the drive and remount it before I'm able to delete the partial transfer and try again. I can play files I've managed to copy to the drive without any problem.

Pros: power supply, data cable, and stand worked.
packaging was good.
delivery timely. tracking worked.
led light, since it wasn't lit, guessed the product wasn't working
nothing against rosewill, as i love their usb network card

Cons: dead on arrival.
hard to put in the case (i used a screwdriver to bend the ribbon wire around, for an 'accordion' bend. it bent so tightly, that it tried to bend at a very sharp angle, which isn't good. then, the power wires are stiff, but still have to be bent a little to fit in the case. someone less skilled may not have been able to get them in without either breaking them, or not getting the cover over at all. it's almost like the didn't take into consideration the space that the wires would take up when assembled.)

Other Thoughts: DOA. Luckily had an old enclosure that I was able to use with the new power supply and data cable. It worked, but I'm not going to return the Rosewill enclosure since I'll have to pay shipping, which subtracts from what I may get in return.

Pros: does what it's supposed to, easy assembly, drive fits snugly, simple, attractive aluminum enclosure.

Cons: fits so snugly that you have to be a little careful tucking the cables in, but that's the price you pay for the snug fit.

Other Thoughts: what can I say, this is probably a hard thing to screw up. I made an old HDD an external storage device, so I'm happy.

Pros: I was able to connect my very old IDE HDD and extract data from it. The design is sleek and stable, the case is made of aluminum so it helps prevent overheating.

Cons: Pulling the HDD out can be somewhat troublesome as it tends to get stuck. I had to really yank the back and I was concerned that the plastic end would come off. I wouldn't recommend this if you had a lot of IDE HDDs to use this on.

Other Thoughts: It serves its purpose and I really couldn't ask for a better price for a nice product.

Pros: Nice tight case. Aluminum so the drive doesn't overheat.
On/Off switch is great for what we use it for.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Ended up with two spare IDE drives that we weren't using anymore, and decided to convert them into external drives for our accounting department to use.

Nice and simple setup.

I didn't have any cable/recognition issues that other reviewers had.

Might be because I had gone and re-formatted the drives prior to installing them into the casing. Made it easy to assign each drive a letter, and name as needed.
