1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work!

Pros: Looks good. Light works.

Cons: Wouldn't recognize any of my IDE drives. Swapped USB cables, USB ports, etc. No luck. I've been using Rosewill enclosures for years. First bad one.

1 out of 5 eggsRosewill RX35-AT-IU SLV

Pros: When it worked, it was perfect and easy to use. Status light on the front panel = good (some others at this price have the light in the back = bad)

Cons: Died after just 16 months of use for a backup hdd - the internal power connector seems to have overheated. Put in use on June 9, 2014, died in early August 2015

5 out of 5 eggsGood ide enclosure

Pros: I was able to use the old ide hdd from my old sony vaio. It seemed like such a waste because I had spend so much money upgrading the hard drive in the past. It works very well, although it is a bit slow.

Cons: A little slow, which was expected, and is noticeably noisy.

5 out of 5 eggsMinimal design works well

Pros: A simple design. keeps drives cool. fairly easy assembly. LED not too bright (like others). Wall wart does not cover other outlets.

Cons: data and power lines get a little scrunched.

Other Thoughts: For the price I have to say I am impressed. There really is no tray for holding the drive, instead it is a partial rail, but two screws seem to hold the controller on at the end, and then it all slides nicely into the aluminum shell. Two screws go through the shell and directly into the drive insuring a direct transfer of heat to the shell.

I was a bit troubled by the way the data and power wires were squeezed between the controller board and the drive, but there is no damage and since there won't be any significant vibration, it all appears OK.

I am comparing this thing to 2 Acomdata boxes I have: the Acomdata units feel like a more solid, complete design since they have a full metal tray for the drive and there is no data cable, the LEDs are very intelligently placed and designed, and finally, the power switch is a toggle with a very solid feel to it. The Rosewill just seems a bit cheap by comparison, but of course it IS cheaper, but works just as well!

An example of the cheapness: The Rosewill has a single blue LED, but it is located on the controller board in the back of the enclosure - the light from it gets to a small window in the front by reflection inside, and so it is a little dim, but adequate.

5 out of 5 eggsA Godsend.

Pros: I use this to turn all of my many formerly useless IDE drives into USB External hard drives that I then use for tons of storage space. Been using if for years now with no problems whatsoever.

Cons: It can't brew my coffee.

Other Thoughts: I haven't read any other of the other reviews. If anyone has experienced problem with this thing I would be extremely shocked.

5 out of 5 eggsSalvation for old HDDs

Pros: -Simple, straight-forward
-Everything lines up nice and tight
-Easy to figure out
-Salvaged my mom's documents from an old, long dead desktop (priceless)

Cons: -The case is so snug, that I had to unplug and reposition the wires a little in order to fit, no big deal. Don't jam it in, just make the ribbon cable do what you need it to, then try again.
-Initially, my PC could not recognize the drive. I had to look online to see what setting the jumpers needed to be in (which is "master" setting, by the way). Then it worked perfectly. A mention of this in the instruction manual would be a big plus. Maybe explain briefly different settings for different situations (if any). No eggs removed for these.

Other Thoughts: I don't really have an interest in actually utilizing a 75GB hard drive (or other similar low capacity) as an true external drive. But if you have old IDE hard drives (I have several) and wondering what to do, look no further. I have waning faith in these old, aging HDDs, but this thing breathed new life into it. Totally satisfied and thrilled.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid!

Pros: None as it does not work and came DOA.

Cons: I bought this item to get data off of an ATA drive when the enclosure it was in failed. I tried using this enclosure as slave and as master and it will not work with either one. The enclosure will power on the hd but the usb will be detected at all. I ended up using a Sabrent USB 2.0 TO SATA/IDE to get the data off the hard drive finally. I would return it if not for the fact shipping would cost half of what I paid for this brick.

5 out of 5 eggsGot the job Done

Pros: Really nice case, super easy to install a HDD.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this to explore several old IDE HDD's I had sitting around. None were worth keeping. I strongly recommend this brand if you have a need.
