USB devices have become so popular that it's easy to fill all of your ports and still need more. This seven port self-powered hub from Rosewill can help.

As we get more stuff on our desk, it helps if it looks good and doesn't have a large “footprint”. This vertically standing hub accomplishes both. It comes with its own 5V, 2Amp DC adapter so your computer doesn't need to provide the power, and it is both USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible. To keep your peripherals safe, it also protects against over-current conditions. It uses a mini Type B input connector (cable included) and has seven Type A output connectors.

If you're running out of sockets for your USB peripherals, then you definitely ought to take a look at this hub. It just might be the answer to all your problems. Well, the USB problems, at least.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Has its own power supply which is important. Works as advertised and does it well.

Cons: None that I can think of. It has given me no problems.

Other Thoughts: Solid unit for expanding USB 2.0 ports without burning out the USB bus in your pc trying to power all the extra devices.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible - stopped working after two months!

Pros: a lot of outlets.

Cons: I thought it was great that it had five outlets, with 2 on the top, but they were placed too close together in the front, so you could not effectively use them all. Then it died after 2 months!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I had an old Belkin 4 port USB hub which works fine. I replaced it with the Rosewill due to the fact that it has 7 ports rather than just 4. I needed more ports to add another backup drive to my system. Easy installation with additional ports.

Cons: One port does not work. When I plug my HP Officejet 7410 into one of the ports, I get a popup window that indicates that the unit cannot be recognized. After moving the USB connector to another port, it was recognized immediately. I rated it 3 stars due to the fact that one port is not functional. However, the rest of the unit seems ok.

Other Thoughts: Good price for a 7 port unit and other than the above mentioned issues, it seems to work fine.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect as advertised

Pros: Works exactly as advertised. I power a Raspberry Pi and a keyboard with an LED screen, the adapter provides the power I need and the Pi runs smoothly.

A nice heavy metal mount to keep it in place. When your devices are connected to it and pulling it in every direction, it doesn't lift or move. There's a small piece of a rubber like material on the base of the metal mount so it doesn't scratch anything. Both are smart design elements.

The metal mount can be detached if you want it sitting flat. There's enough weight behind it to stop it moving so long as your cords aren't tugging on it too hard.

It looks good and it routes enough power for all of my usb devices.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Surprisingly well constructed for a $20 item. It feels like it has a strong construction, sturdy plastic case with a heavy metal mount.

The LED light on the power adapter can act as a small night light as it is so bright. This isn't a con, just don't stare at it directly or have it in a room you sleep in. I used a small piece of black electrical tape to cover it up and it no longer bothers me.

I also use the hub to charge my phone.

I'd highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a usb hub.

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill USB Hub

Pros: I failed to mention earlier that it was a Rosewill Product, and as always a fine product. I own three Rosewill Power Supplies and find them very reliable.

Cons: Not a one.

Other Thoughts: Excellent USB Hub.
I also failed to add a nickname.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great - can use HUB with KVM(P) switch!!

Pros: Needed a new USB hub. I have 4 ports in use and so far works like a champ! I think it frees up power resources if you plug it in with Power Adapter...I have mine plugged into a batt back-up so no loss of periferals during power outages.

This works great if you need a HUB to run a KMVP on a switch!!!! In fact I have my KMV switch and I ran into this HUB and the HUB to one computer so I can run KMVP and 2 open ports for camera..phone..whatever and both computers recognize ALL components connected to this HUB!!!

Cons: None so far!!
