USB devices have become so popular that it's easy to fill all of your ports and still need more. This seven port self-powered hub from Rosewill can help.

As we get more stuff on our desk, it helps if it looks good and doesn't have a large “footprint”. This vertically standing hub accomplishes both. It comes with its own 5V, 2Amp DC adapter so your computer doesn't need to provide the power, and it is both USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible. To keep your peripherals safe, it also protects against over-current conditions. It uses a mini Type B input connector (cable included) and has seven Type A output connectors.

If you're running out of sockets for your USB peripherals, then you definitely ought to take a look at this hub. It just might be the answer to all your problems. Well, the USB problems, at least.

  • newegg 7-port USB Hub The Rosewill RHB-320 features 7 USB 2.0 downstream ports for easy access to a variety of USB devices such as your storage device, scanner, printer, external optical drive, and digital camera.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after a few years

Pros: It worked great while it worked, and it was nice to have this many ports handy. Powered so I could use/charge a lot of devices at the same time

Cons: Died after a couple of years. First the USB data stopped working, and now it doesn't work to charge devices. Sigh. Even with no moving parts, maybe a couple of years is the best you can hope for?

Other Thoughts: Wish it hadn't kicked the bucket.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Does what it advertises. Got it to prevent my Saitek X-55 HOTAS from ghosting something terrible in Elite: Dangerous. Absolutely no incidents of ghosting since going through this. The housing is solid and well constructed, and the stand is nice, although the unit doesn't really weigh enough to counteract any cable strain that might be pulling against it, so I'm not really sure what the point of it is.

Cons: It's really more of a four-port USB hub, with three additional ports accessible when you disassemble part of the housing and expose the chipboard. Not really an issue if it is going to be tucked away and hidden, but if it's sitting out in the open, or it is being used in a very dirty/high-dust environment, that might be something to take into consideration.

Other Thoughts: Four stars because I'm not really a fan of the design. Having to remove part of the housing and expose the insides to access the last three ports is a poor design choice.

Other than that it's a good product and I would recommend it.

Other reviews have indicated that this will NOT charge USB devices if it is not plugged into a computer as well. My experience indicates this is not the case - my joystick/throttle light up when plugged into the hub alone, and my phone will charge just fine when it is not connected to my computer.

4 out of 5 eggsHandy

Pros: In addition to working well for your computer stuff, this is very handy for charging items. I keep one in my travel bag to charge 2 phones, a tablet, and e-cig batteries when I travel.

Cons: Others have praised the lightweight design. I personally would prefer that it was a little heavier. It tends to tip over or fall off the top of the computer, depending upon how much is plugged in to it, and where it is plugged. However, this is not a serious drawback, and I'm about to order another one. I wish Rosewill had a USB 3.0 version of this.

Other Thoughts: Most people don't realize how much power USB peripherals will draw from your computer. People that have cheap computers, with sub-standard power supplies, and those who own laptops, would do well to have a powered hub, or be prepared to deal with electrical damage to your computer, due to insufficient power.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little Port

Pros: Nicely packaged and shipped with all necessary parts. Comes with power cube as well as all necessary cables. Absolutely no issues found so far.

Cons: No switches or individual port led's, but this is really no big thing.

Other Thoughts: Nice little port. Even comes with individual serial numbers!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It's a hub, it works well.
Cords are decent length.
The base comes off.

Cons: Non that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: The metal base seems slightly magnetic ... not sure if it was intentional or not.

1 out of 5 eggsIt'll stop working on you

Pros: Works when you take it out of the box, and probably for the first 30 days when you can return it.

Cons: Over time ports will stop working. First one, then another, and you'll think you're going insane because things stop working with no rhyme or reason. In less than two months I've had several failures on this hub, while I have other hubs that are 3 years old that still work.

Note that the ports will still provide power to cell phones/other devices, but they won't be recognized by your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: This hub does a wonderful job. Despite what some reviewers have stated, it does come with an external power supply. Reportedly 2 amp. Using this hub I have never received the windows warning message of power limits exceeded on hub. The only thing that I could possibly frown on, is the rubber flapper that is on the top that covers the top few ports. I guess the idea besides displaying the brand name is to keep the dust out. It eventually breaks off or I just pull it out. But that's really looking for something to gripe about. I have purchased two of these and highly recommend them. I've seen them as low as about $10 with Free Shipping. Currently $14.99. I guess its supply and demand but usually the color black is cheaper. Whatever, Black is fine.

Cons: It's not free, and a technician did not come out and install it for me.

Other Thoughts: Well made.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works out of the box.
Can be used as a USB charger since it has independent power.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I use this to charge my phones, power my Raspberry Pi, and charge my Razer Mamba while my computer is not on.
