As we get more stuff on our desk, it helps if it looks good and doesn't have a large “footprint”. This vertically standing hub accomplishes both. It comes with its own 5V, 2Amp DC adapter so your computer doesn't need to provide the power, and it is both USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible. To keep your peripherals safe, it also protects against over-current conditions. It uses a mini Type B input connector (cable included) and has seven Type A output connectors.

Pros: The heavy stand is sturdy and grips to the desk well so the weight of the cords won't move it around. It works well without the power cord but I use it to charge my ipod when my comp isn't on. It has a nice design that matches the rest of my components.
Cons: Nada
Other Thoughts: I have a printer, keyboard, mouse, bose sound system, ipod charger and camera charger hooked up to it so I can connect my laptop with one cord. I still have an extra port available as well.

Pros: 7 USB ports in one unit. Works as advertised.
Cons: This unit sits on a weighted pedestal. This might not be a problem, except with more than 2 or 3 USB cables, it is not stable.
Other Thoughts: I have taken the pedestal off, so it's not a problem.

Pros: Great USB hub... no complaints.... I did buy this specific one because the previous reviewer stated that the thing acts as a stand-alone charger when not connected to the PC.... Not true, even with external power, only charges anything wilst computer is connected and on.
