Nifty little hub
5 out of 5 eggs
It has 7 ports obviously, 3 on front, and 3 on top under a dust cover (which I removed), and then 1 on the back. ...

USB devices have become so popular that it's easy to fill all of your ports and still need more. This seven port self-powered hub from Rosewill can help.

As we get more stuff on our desk, it helps if it looks good and doesn't have a large “footprint”. This vertically standing hub accomplishes both. It comes with its own 5V, 2Amp DC adapter so your computer doesn't need to provide the power and it is both USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible. To keep your peripherals safe, it also protects against over-current conditions. It uses a mini Type B input connector (cable included) and has seven Type A output connectors.

If you're running out of sockets for your USB peripherals, then you definitely ought to take a look at this hub. It just might be the answer to all your problems. Well, the USB problems, at least.

  • newegg 7-Port USB Hub The Rosewill RHB-320R features 7 USB 2.0 downstream ports for easy access to a variety of USB devices such as your storage device, scanner, printer, external optical drive, and digital camera.

4 out of 5 eggsThe top ports have a silicone plug-like dust cap - it is not a sliding cover!

Pros: Design with the pedestal looks cute/cheesy, but it is very purposeful as you don't need to grab and lift / twist the entire hub and all the wires in order to sufficiently grasp the cable/device you wish to disconnect. Thus it works very nicely for crowded desks like mine as it sits above the clutter. Very thoughtful, well done, and well executed design.

Cons: However... closely-spaced ports cannot accommodate fat (excessively wide on the front ports ie patriot xporter or excessively thick on the top ports) thumb drives. Importantly, the power sag of plugging in a second or third usb-powered 2.5" ext platter hard drive may be great enough to overwhelm the power supply and cause all the devices to temporarily lose power. Be careful. Perhaps a better power supply is warranted?

Other Thoughts: I thought that the white/translucent dust cover with the embossed silver rosewill logo was supposed to slide open to reveal the top ports, but it *rotates* out of the way. I tried to slide it open and ended up opening the entire hub chassis! Oops. At least i could see the internal structure appears to be sufficiently built.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great. This replaced my 7-port squid hub that was failing. Also, it's good to have a powered hub to provide enough power for all the devices (esp bus-powered USB drives and such).

Cons: I had some problems first getting devices to recognize. I think the issue was my PC though, as once I rebooted Windows everything worked correctly.

5 out of 5 eggsGood and cheap

Pros: lots of ports. looks good. inexpensive. works.
Using it on my desktop computer.
Will boot OS off External HDD plugged into it.
No need to plug and unplug cable to recognize, everything works at boot.
This is a perfect cheap little hub.

Cons: My front usb ports on my computer feel neglected?

Other Thoughts: Mine is not getting warm at all and its been plugged in for a over a week now.

Currently plugged in and powered 100% of the time.
Rear slot:WD MY book External HDD
Front slots:Logiteck dual-shock controller, Digital camera cord, Cell Phone cord.

The Top 3 slots I use to plug in my usb memory sticks.

The cord is not that short... The hub is sitting on my desk, computer is 2 feet away on the floor.

Cons: maybe the cables could be longer and it gets a little hot.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: Small, can be used non-powered.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I'm a technician that's always using USB devices in my work van. I used some Velcro to mount this on my dash, ran a USB to my laptop and ran power to it. My Verizon wireless USB card and several jump drives are all plugged in. Now I just used one cable and I'm done. No constant plugging and unplugging multiple devices.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat accessory for my notebook!

Pros: Seven downstream USB ports that can be powered by the adapter that comes with it! Great for notebooks that have only three USB ports! Green LED light to indicate that external power is being provided by the included AC adapter.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this device with "free shipping", either make sure that you are home when UPS attempts to deliver it, or give them your signature on the back of the delivery attempt notice that UPS will leave at your door. If you do neither of the above, be aware that UPS will most likely exercise their right to ship it back to NewEgg after the third attempt (unless you call them by 7:00 p.m. the evening of the third delivery attempt). That is what happened to me when I tried to order this item the first time.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does exactly what it claims. Win7 saw it at once. It works fine with a "thumb drive" and with an external hard drive (powered). I have had no need to try the power supply for the hub, and probably never will. I believe heat problems can be avoided by going without the power supply unless needed.

Cons: Would prefer moving the rear port to front, top, or side. But this is nit picking as I will probably never use 7 ports anyway.

Other Thoughts: I have been heasitant tor try Rosewill products becaues of there low price, but this gives me the confidence to try others in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsOk... but ow!

Pros: I initially bought a powered hub because of the USB issues my motherboard (and or power supply) has been having lately (only two of my ports power the devices I plug in, so I needed some extra). This hub worked perfectly with all my devices for about two weeks...

Cons: After two weeks of use I noticed the hub was no longer receiving external power. I tried a few different outlets but to no avail. After further troubleshooting, I pulled the adapter out of the power outlet only to find one of the prongs still stuck in the outlet... thinking back to Physics 101, I grabbed a rubber glove (which apparently was some sort of fake rubber), reached to pull the prong out, and ZAP! ... electrocuted myself. Finally found some real rubber and got it out of the wall... I guess I could look for a replacement power supply, but I'll probably just end up switching brands altogether.

Other Thoughts: Was perfectly happy with it until it stopped working and I got electrocuted.
