5 out of 5 eggsJust the thing for Raspberry PI

Pros: Switch to turn off some of the usb

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: There are two USB unswitched 5 that are - perfect to connect lots of things to my PI - Even supplies a 2.5 external drive with power - no problem. Can turn off the pie for hardware changes easily. Keyboard and mouse in the two unswitched sockets.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat quality hub at a good price.

Pros: Compact, sleek, power switch, magnetic on the bottom & price.

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: This hub hasn't let me down, used it for many different things. It's compact & sleek, also seems well made. The magnets on the bottom keep it stable on top of my PC case. Personally I like the fact that the top five are controlled by the switch and the two on the end stay on regardless. Only thing I'd like is higher amperage from the power supply, but it is what's to be expected and what's advertised.

1 out of 5 eggsBummed

Pros: Small. Power switch.

Cons: Won't charge Apple devices. It would be nice if included documentation specifies that it doesn't work for them. -5 eggs for mis-representing the product.

Other Thoughts: Stupid apple....they always have to make thing difficult. I got this to run a charging station for my kids' ipad and android tablets. The androids charge fine, ipads? Nope.
It would be a waste of money to return the thing, so I guess I'll keep it in my desk drawer for 5 years thinking maybe I'll be able to use it for something.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you very much for purchasing this unit.
We strive to provide the most reliable and highest quality products to our customers.

This product is not marketed to charged ipads. Please keep in mind Ipads require 2.1A of current to charge and the max each port on this hub may output is 2A.

5 out of 5 eggsUseful Rosewill Product

Pros: Slim and easy to mount with double sided mounting tape or velcro. Power switch doesn't have any play like some of the other brands. External power is able to power all 7 USB devices, flight sim panels.

Cons: Two of the ports are on the end of the device. These may make them tougher to access if mounting against a wall or in a tight space. I would have liked them all facing the same way, but this is minor since I knew this before purchasing.

Other Thoughts: Some USB devices, for me it was joystick and a SIM instrument, will not operate properly when power to the hub is turned on. These required me to reseat the connection each time. Other USB devices work fine. I moved the touchy USB devices to onboard USB and left the rest. Overall I am satisfied with the product and Rosewill's quality.

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Sleek, works, USB 2.

Cons: The main issues I have with this unit are:

1- AC adapter is huge and will block two or three outlets if plugged into a power strip. Then, the power cord itself comes off the same bulky end. It's cost effective but just horrible to still see that these days.

2- USB cable is only 3'. For a non powered usb hub you typically get a 6 footer and this company gives it's powered hub a whopping 3'.

3- There's a power switch on it. This most certainly is a con because in all my years of computing I have never used or seen a hub like this sit on a desk where it would make some sort of sense to put a switch on it. It sits on the ground and get's tugged, flipped, etc. Having a switch on it makes it easy to have it go off. Keep that in mind when you're trouble shooting future issues. I will however say that the switch isn't incredibly easy to shut off, but it has no purpose being on such a hub. If you don't want a cheap hub powered, you unplug it, as always. So easy to see what companies use the types of products they make and design vs those who don't.

Other Thoughts: I gave it two eggs because at least it works and is cheap, but not cheap enough to justify all it's short comings. In the picture the AC unit is slightly angled but it just burns me up to see anyone make things these days that take up the space of more outlets than the one it should occupy.

Save yourself a headache later when you soon see you have no outlets available and buy a better unit. Powered hubs are the way to go, especially if you're buying it for non powered hardware, like gaming controllers, USB being powered by the system bus is fine for most people that don't use a computer often, but as most of you know, when you have lots of USB devices and start windows, at least one device will need to be unplugged and plugged back in. Controllers with LED's especially.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!

Pros: Long power cable and usb cable. Magnets is a plus! All 7 ports work.

Cons: My only issue is that my Sandisk Clip Plus wouldn't load up when connected through this. Other than that I just plug it directly onto the motherboard when I need to.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Dualminer.

Pros: Rosewill must be reading these reviews because all the CONS I have seen don't exist with my unit.

1 - All seven ports appear to be powered. Not 5 as mentioned earlier. The power switch only affect the top 5 however. The two on the end are always hot.

2 - The cord on the power supply is 5' 8" long. Not "ridiculously short" as previously mentioned.

3 - The USB cable is 3' 5" long. Again, not short.

Maybe I got a new model? Anyway. Loving it. Works exactly as desired for my new Dualminer setup.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine

Pros: Enables additional USB 2 connections
Has been reliable for 3 months

Cons: Plug blocks outlets on power strip

Other Thoughts: Everything that has been plugged into this hub has worked reliably for about three months. I have had good luck with Rosewill products and will buy them first until this situation changes.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works as advertised. No issues. Good value-for-money.

Having some switched and some unswitched ports is nice. The power supply is mercifully small.

Cons: None yet.
