Pros: I don't see any

Cons: not worth the price. I hooked it up and 30 seconds later it died. Very acrid burning chip smell came wafting out. It cost me low $ but will cost more than I paid in shipping to return for replacement. It would cost less to throw this one away and order a second one.

Other Thoughts: never again will I purchase Rosewill.

Pros: It's a sata dock, you carefully slide your drive in, and now you have an external drive to do whatever you want with. Great item for using all those spare sata drives you have lying around. Got 2 for 19.00 a year ago, and at 11.00 each with a promo code, didn't hesitate to buy 2 more.

Cons: none, if you use it as intended. Can't be just flinging drives in there.

Pros: So simple to install. Plug in cables, add an HDD or an SSD and wait for it to come up in Windows. Great price for what it is.

Cons: None so far as I have just had it for 1 day.

Other Thoughts: Received the item 3 days before it was supposed to be delivered.

Pros: I've been able to plug in Hard Drives that I pulled from both desktops and laptops and pull the data from them quite easily. That it uses an external power source is also helpful when how much power your HDD draws could potentially effect your computers performance.

Cons: Your computer may not recognize the HDD as soon as it's plugged in. Sometimes I may have to adjust how it's positioned in order for it to read. Luckily, this is a rather minor annoyance.

Other Thoughts: This does everything I need it to do. Given what I paid for it, I'm actually quite satisfied with what I'd gotten. If you need equipment like this, my advice would be to buy this item.

Pros: Although it fails miserably as a hard drive dock, it does weigh more than a standard sheet of paper. This feature makes it an ideal paper weight.

Cons: I went through roughly 8 of these docks at various locations. I've been forced to replace every one of them as I had constant problems with drive dropping offline, not being detected when swapped and constant corruption issues. In every instance, replacing the dock with a comparable unit of another brand has resolved the issue. Many of these were bad right out of the box as they wouldn't come online at all when connected. Of those that Newegg replaced, the replacements have also failed (NOT Neweggs fault at all). I've wasted more time and money replacing these docks and fighting with the constant issues with them then I have with any other product that I've used.

Other Thoughts: Even though these docks have caused me to loose my hair prematurely, they have helped me to keep the stacks of paper on my desk well organized.

Pros: After re-working this, it does function according to specs

Cons: This device, as shipped, is NOT worth the price, unless you are able to re-work it.

Other Thoughts: I've purchased 3 of these, at 2 different times.

All 3 arrived with damage, caused by POOR construction, and shipment methods.

#1, There is a base counter-weight, made out of cast iron, that is BARELY secured, if you were transporting it to your friend's house, carefully. These rode a ship, pounding through the ocean, from China. (And, after that, they ended up on a truck, to be delivered to your house.) In all 3 I've gotten, the counter-weight was broken loose, and bouncing against the circuit board.

#2, the socket does not allow for the HDD to properly contact the connections below. Also, the "eject" function merely pushes up on the bottom of the HDD.
A fix is to COMPLETELY remove the "eject" function, and just pull the drive out. Also, remove the base plate, along with the loose chunk of cast iron. Remove the screws mounting the circuit board, and the board. Take a drill bit larger than the base of the mounting holes, and with your fingers, drill it down a bit. (1/8th inch should do.) Re-mount the circuit board, and you're fine.

I've got 3 re-worked units, and, after re-working them, they work just fine. I just have to physically PULL the HDD out, which is all the "eject" lever does.

Pros: Works well (a year and a half). Lasts long IF you unplug it when not in use.

Cons: Too slow.
I got an e-sata external from Rosewill and it is 10x faster.

Other Thoughts: If your board does not have e-sata (as mine does not), get an add-on for the front or back of your case and run a sata cable from it to a sata header and voila!

Pros: Works very effectively, does everything it should, just keeps plugging along.

Cons: Became unusable immediately after upgrading to Windows 8. That problem has been solved.

Other Thoughts: I bought this gem in 2012, while my machine was running Windows 7. After upgrading to Windows 8, the device stopped working.

I, too, blamed Rosewill at first, but as it turns out this problem was caused by a software error that rested with Microsoft. Update KB 2967917 was installed on my computer on 8/5/2014. I read details before installing this patch as it was OPTIONAL. I decided to install it because it addressed a problem with USB 2.1 devices not being recognized under certain conditions.
After installing the update and rebooting the computer, I brushed the dust off my RX-DU101 and plugged it back in.

It now works perfectly. You do the math.
