1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to install and setup.

Cons: After 11 months of usage I had no trouble however after upgrading to a 3TB drive it requires a power cycle nearly every 24 hours just to operate.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this again. Avoid like the plague.

1 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY!!

Pros: worked okay for total of 50 hours in a year.

Cons: The USB 3.0 connection droped out one day , and it never worked again.

Works fine for 30 min on usb 2.0 but cannot connect AT ALL using 3.0. Tried changing cable , HDD , even diffrent compuiter.

Rosewll wont give me new one , since i am a week overdue on warranty. Quite redicilous , i've bought 4 of these and now i am scared they will all fail.

NEVER ROSEWILL AGAIN!

Other Thoughts: Dont waste your money on Rosewill , your out of luck if its out of 30 days.

Pay a lil more for a better known brand.

3 out of 5 eggsWoked out of the box, no light

Pros: Did what it was supposed to do in an efficient manner.
6 phillips screws required for assembly.
Machining was sufficient. Unit slid together well with reasonable tolerances.

Cons: 4 screws to remove drive seemed excessive - I've seen other enclosures where the drive is supported and anchored well but it's just 2 screws to get the drive out.
The activity LED is mounted on the rear PCB.
The clear plastic insert through which the light from this LED emits is in the front of the case.
The light getting out of this plastic insert is so dim it can only really be seen in low room light with your eyes right in front of the window. I'm sure in a very dark room this might be a tad better. Perhaps they were thinking of all those programmers and sysadmins working in darkened rooms until the wee hours when a bright LED could be blinding - I'd just as soon know when my drive is active and allow me to cover the LED if it's too bright.

Other Thoughts: The LED situation can be fixed with ten minutes of soldering but why should we have to fix their bad design?
As an inexpensive device, it provided me with a USB 3.0 solution very quickly. I've labelled the device with a purchase date and will report back on durability.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Deal

Pros: Didn't catch fire.

Cons: Doesn't work on USB 3.0.

Other Thoughts: Total bust. I should have suspected from the 30 day warranty terms. Too bad; have to learn from experience on Rosewill.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Runs cool. Sturdy & pleasing design.

Cons: Died after 6 months of use.

Other Thoughts: I have Rosewill RX35-AT-SU (usb 2.0 version) and it still works flawlessly after 3 years of continuous use.

1 out of 5 eggs100% Defective...

Pros: It did not try to kill my family...

Cons: Fragile, prone to DIE, 2 DOAs in a row. UGH!!!

Other Thoughts: Do NOT buy one of these. I have had 3 or 4 of the Roswell USB2 Enclosures that are identical to these save that they are USB 2, and they have been excellent. Something went sideways when they ported this enclosure to USB3 though, as they both had the EXACT same issue: They work for a bit, then have a power issue.

Wish I could give 0 stars, and as NewEgg does not have a very consumer friendly RMA policy, this may be the deal that makes me shop elsewhere, and remove NewEgg from my bookmarks.

Wake up NewEgg - this is a DEFECTIVE piece of hardware. STOP SELLING THEM!!!

1 out of 5 eggsCaveman Technology

Pros: It comes in a nice box.

Cons: Everything. This piece of hardware is so poorly machined that the act of assembling it with a drive inside renders the drive a permanent fixture inside of the enclosure. The best part is that while bench testing a drive the enclosure worked fine in pieces. However, the moment I slid the drive inside of the enclosure it not only stopped working, but somehow wiped the MBR of the disk attached. Ok, no big deal, it's a bad enclosure. It happens. I ordered TWO of them just in case this happened and had the same issue with both. Save yourself and buy any other enclosure BUT this one. I feel like it was designed and nobody ever actually took the time to test or look at this thing before marketing it. If you are unfortunate enough to have got one of these, DO NOT USE THE SCREWS FOR THE BOTTOM OF THE HARD DRIVE!

2 out of 5 eggsAs mentioned by others, USB 3.0 creates problems

Pros: Good looking, solid and works great as a USB 2.0 case. I have a WD Green 1TB drive in it and it works fine for my nightly backups...... as long as I'm using a USB 2.0 cable at 2.0 speeds.

Cons: Using with USB 3.0 just doesn't work. As soon as the drive goes to sleep it will not wake up. In fact, I have even had trouble bringing it back up at all (remove from PC, turning it off/on, rebooting computer). Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or more to get it back out of sleep mode before it is usable. The solution is to just get a USB 2.0 cable. Problem solved.

Other Thoughts: Buy it as a USB 2.0 device, not a 3.0. It does not work correctly as a USB 3.0 enclosure.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: There are no vents, fans or any other way to get in or out of the enclosure. It traps in heat; even with a slow 5400RPM drive, it gets very hot.

Other Thoughts: Go for the Rosewill RX-358, it is around the same price and is a lot better quality.
