5 out of 5 eggsWorks reliably, modular.

Pros: Easy to manage cables, solid construction, easy to mount and airflow looks good. Provides power as advertised.

Cons: It's a bit hard to get the cables all the way hooked in on the PSU side, make sure you have strong fingers.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: ~Looks nice and solid on the outside
~Modular
~Quiet

Cons: ~Claims to have overvoltage protection and other types of protection; question is if it really does

Other Thoughts: Lasted ALMOST a year.

This unit fried my components: lost 2 hard drives and motherboard. I can't tell if the other components are still alive or not because my replacement motherboard isn't here yet.

Frankly, I'm surprised that an item of this type of certification and with this many good reviews has this bad of a devil running around... and the worst part is that I'm the one that managed to snag the little demon.
I highly doubt rosewill wants to reimburse me for the parts that I lost, so if you guys could do more quality work in your quality testing that'd be great. You're making electrics not sweaters.

Rosewill claims that this product as overvoltage protection... Yea, my Dr. Power II PSU tester says that this thing is giving more power than is safe for components.

Hoping to get at least an RMA for the PSU because there's no way I have any chance in getting an RMA for my fried components... Rosewill needs to look at their products more thoroughly if they want to have a cleaner track record.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat... in more ways than one.

Pros: ~Gold Certification
~Continuous
~Modular
~Runs pretty quiet & cool

Cons: ~Claims to have "Over Temperature/Current/Voltage/Power Protection"....

Other Thoughts: I give it more than 1 egg because it ALMOST lasted a year for me. I bought this with confidence on 5/12/2014 for a personal server type function in mind because the general outlook of Rosewill Capstone was good when I asked Google.

After almost a year, I find that my particular PSU decided to keel over its 'Protection' and fry my components. I can now 'happily' say that I'm a proud owner of an over-active PSU, dead hard drives, and a dead motherboard. After my replacement Mobo comes in, I might even find out that I now own a dead cpu and gpu as well. Who knows, still waiting for that to arrive.

I PROBABLY should've just went with the cleaner track record company, Seasonic, because last weekend while I was doing some maintenance I had a nice surprise...
After I replaced one of my dead hard drives, I booted my machine: no sata devices detected. I then eventually decided to reseat my components after trying to cover all my bases of what could've went wrong and I find that I couldn't even boot into POST. Nothing but a black screen for me.
I noticed that my hard disks didn't feel like they were vibrating and I couldn't tell if they were really quietly spinning or not working.
I said goodbye to a few dollars and bought a Dr. Power II PSU tester and there were red lights all over. I now unexpectedly have a nice little component fryer in my possession.

Hoping to get at least an RMA for the PSU because there's no way I have any chance in getting an RMA for my fried components... and did I mention I bought this for a personal server in mind?

5 out of 5 eggsIt's an amazing PSU for the price

Pros: Modular, low price, output is higher than 450w based on my testing, and it's much quieter than my previous 530w Raidmax.

Cons: One more molex connector would have been nice, to power the additional fans without having to add a whole sata connector. But I have two more SATA SDDs to add, so they will be put to use shortly.

Other Thoughts: While time is the true test of a PSU (my old Raidmax died after two years), this PSU has handled a mild and strong overclock on the CPU and GPU without fluctuations or issues.

If you don't require over 450W (which is actually most systems, unless you're running pairs of top-end graphics cards), this is a great little PSU.

System: AMD A-8 3750K @ 3.4GHz, 8GB DDR3, 2GB HD7850 @1040/1450.

5 out of 5 eggs18 month Follow-up

Pros: Everything I stated back in May of 2013 still holds true and I hold even more praise for this line & brand of PSU's than before.

PSU is still completely silent.
Powerful enough for an i7 and R9 290; more info below.
Lengthened warranty from 5 to 7 years!
AnandTech Editor's Choice Award Winner.
Competitive pricing for an outstanding product

Cons: Definitely Not

Other Thoughts: This PSU is still powering my HTPC which has had an overhaul since I first reviewed it.

My HTPC main components are now:

Gigabyte Z97-N WiFi Mini-ITX board
i7 4770k @ 4.3GHz
8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz 1.5V
PowerColor R9 290 @ 1075/1375

This little PSU just keeps on chugging and has never let me down.

It holds stable for lengthy gaming sessions where the R9 290 is utilized 100% for nearly the entire game session. My overclock on this 290 isn't extreme, but it is common knowledge that efficiency isn't one of the strong points of the 290(X) cards. I've had no problem powering the 290 for the last 9 months.

Has no problem feeding the overclocked, 4.3GHz, 4770k @ 85-100% load for Bluray rips that typically take 30-50 minutes; depending on the title.

I will be dropping a 4790k into my HTPC soon. The 4790k seems promising as it is clocking 4.7GHz in my test bench and the chip hasn't even been delidded yet. Hoping to shave a few minutes off my BD rip times with the higher clock speeds.

Just buy one!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice PSU

Pros: Better cables and hardware then what i expected. Looks and feels solid. Boxed up very nicely just like the the Corsair HX750 that I also got.

Comes with a nice bag to keep extra cables and all the hardware you need to set it up with extra screws, zip cords, and a set of thumb screws for the PSU if u don't want to use regular screws.

Pretty much had all the same things that the Corsair HX750 that also bought came with. And one that the Corsair did not come with that is a set of really nice thumb screws.

Great warranty 7 years.

Price over Corsair.

Has really good reviews on line.

Cons: Nothing right now.

Other Thoughts: Will buy this type PSU again can't see now paying extra money for Corsair PSU moreover now that Corsair customer service sucks so much and they make jump over hoops to even get a Case manual that ur case is suppose to come with already.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible

Pros: This is a very well-built power supply. The casing is solid, the connectors clicked in solidly, the 24-pin fit without too much pressure, and the options for connectors was smart. The voltages were very stable under heavy load and I was able to overclock my FSB much higher due to the stable voltages.

Unfortunately, all this is completely irrelevant (see cons)

Cons: It failed on day two! My kill-a-watt meter reported that I was only drawing about 250-280W at the wall so there is no excuse for this to have completed failed in that time. I tried testing it with a paperclip on the green to ground and the fan wouldn't spin. It just clicks unhappily. I tried it with a new power cord, on a different circuit, and in a different building. Nope, it's dead.

In 7 years and building about 400 computers I've had a power supply fail this quickly once and it certainly wasn't a gold certified, award winning one. Avoid this power supply at all costs. There is either a severe design defect or they're lying about the build quality and specs.

Other Thoughts: The shipping box wasn't damaged, it didn't get wet, I didn't have a power surge or outage, and I barely got about 15 hours on the power supply before it failed. There is simply no excuse for that early of a failure.

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill CAPSTONE-450-M 450W Modular PSU

Pros: 1) Small footprint inside my Mid tower case. Semi Modular version works well for the room I had. All connectors were fine and proper.

2) Works like a charm, can't hear it running ( I checked just to make sure it WAS running right, lol)

3) Plenty enough power for my A-10 7850k system running 4.2.

4) Truth: Was going to go with a Corsair model....BUT, after mulling it over I decided to give Rosewill a try and save a few bucks in the process. So far, so good.

5) Daddy's happy and that's what counts! :)

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsCapacitor(?) Blew After a Few Hours

Pros: It's Modular and it looks nice.

Cons: After taking all day to build a new PC I turned it on and it ran for hours, then out of nowhere there was a loud cracking sound and everything shut off. Now it refuses to power on.

It's REALLY big, it barely fit in my Mini-ATX.

Other Thoughts: I just RMA'd, 10$ to ship it back and delay the build, which was a gift.
