5 out of 5 eggsDat plat. The power savings are real son

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: My old power supply was out of control. The wires were going everywhere, obstructing air flow, crowding the case, and mostly not being used. It would vibrate, and was noisy. My old PSU wasn't 80 PLUS, and it drew a lot of power. When I would call it on the phone and ask it where it was, it would sass me and tell me that I wasn't even its real dad.

That was until I went to Dr. Phil and realized that I was a bad PSU enabler.

I had to get rid of my old PSU, and got this unit instead. It is quiet and produces no vibration. In my mini ITX build, the case is very restricted, so the cable management is essential. With fewer wires, the air flow is improved. Now my PSU politely asks to be excused from the dinner table and we work on model airplanes together. Thanks Rosewill! Thanks Dr. Phil!

Cons: Doesn't come with fresh pasta : /

5 out of 5 eggsSuprise

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Basic fan, silicon wire cover, no LEDs, no fancy blades. Spins at 500 @ 2000 rpm like spec says. Rubber mounting grommets keep this fan very silent.

Cons: I could only get one. Newegg is out of stock. Had to find other brands with similar specs. Nexus D12SL-12PWM (clear plastic), Coolmaster Blade Master 120 (no rubber grommets).

Other Thoughts: I'll keep an eye out for these, everywhere.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It runs quietly and saves power. The cable management is great. You only use what you need which saves a lot of space in smaller cases (I'm looking at you form factor weirdos). The cabling is high quality material that is flexible and yet strong.

Cons: This unit at 550W is slightly under powered for most modern setups. I'm running on older hardware, and I'm getting crashes and blue screens. I'm sure it would run great on a machine used for grandma's facebook games, just no big graphics cards, heavy IO, or major multi-tasking.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Power Supply

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Super quiet. Nice packaging. Comes with a handy case for the cables. Solid quality. An all around good buy.

Cons: No cons. Got exactly what was promised.

Other Thoughts: I bought when there was a deal that gave me a Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm. Got more than my money's worth.

5 out of 5 eggsworth it! for mild gaming system

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The platinum cert on this PS lives up to it. runs silent and cool (little heat on hot days). gotta go modular for less mess. the extensive safety built in features for power outage, surge, etc is a must have to protect ur system. currently running 2x4 gb gskillz (1800Mhz), visontek 120gb ssd, old sata 160 hdd, old video card radeon ati 4650 hd, fx6300 @3.5Ghz, on asus m5a99fx pro r2.0

Cons: it wasn't free...

Other Thoughts: go with a 650+watt ps of the same model if u want to do high end dual video cards for safety's sake.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very stable, great warranty, modular cabling, silent fan, and never heats up. I've had some pretty bad luck with power supplies in the past, so for my new build I really wanted something I could depend on. So far I am really loving this thing.

Cons: Expensive

Other Thoughts: I got this in a combo deal with a free 1 tb hard drive, so it really made it a more justifiable purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great power supply I have ever owned yet has lots of modular cables and the ones pre-attached are the ones that you actually need.

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: I had a hard time getting it to work at first I thought it was DOA but I put a paper clip on the black and the green wire and plugged it in for about 5 minutes and then it worked
