5 out of 5 eggsWorking Great- Working Quiet

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It is definitely quiet so:
1. I have to borrow a temp probe because the fan only kicks in when the temp is too hot.
2. so far the temp has only been 30C or so, when I am even in the midst of gaming.

It is modular- mostly, except some of the essential lines. Worked well.

Cons: It is big. as in longer than most PSU out there. For mid tower case, you may not be able to install an additional 120mM intake fan next to the PSU due to the clearance.

I am using TT v3 midtower black case here and that is the case (no pun intended) for me.

Other Thoughts: Working well so far, it is platinum and powering my whole rig very well.

Previously I have problems with my R9 290 reference card that it will get stuck blank screen on random occasion etc, especially after waking up or screen saver. Turn out the PSU that I used previously (TT TR2 1000W) died shortly after (1 month) after the symptoms were showing up. So I did additional research on tachyon 1000- they did not have surge protection. So to avoid similar problems, I have plugged it to a protected source, and it has been working great so far.

1 out of 5 eggs$200 per year of service

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Was great for a year with one GTX Titan.

Cons: Running higher resolutions (demanding more from the video card due to a bigger monitor) the fan started surging up and down. At first I thought it was the Titan, after opening the case I realized the PS fan was freaking out. Although the product is out of stock (meaning it's discontinued). It was a fun ride and your welcome...Roswell...thanks for taking my money.

Other Thoughts: Buying PC components are a gamble. It all boils down to the length of the warranty (no matter what brand) or how many times they will send you a replacement or how many times are you willing to rewire your setup.

5 out of 5 eggsTachyon 1000w

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Lots of extra connectors, with cables to support 3 way SLI (if all of the cards had two 8-pin connectors). Smaller in size than similar wattage power supplies. Silent. The honeycomb pattern matches my black c70 quite well. The sides are clean, and look nice if you have the fan side in the case.

Cons: comes with an additional 8 pin CPU power connector, which is good for motherboards that need it. Mine, however, did not, and stuffing it away behind my side panel made the cable management that much more difficult. Not really the fault of the power supply though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The modular wiring is very handy to reduce airflow restrictions

Cons: the cords supplied barely reached some of the components in a full tower.

2 out of 5 eggsPulsing Fan and Power loss

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Price and at least it lasted a year.

Cons: 1 year later and the fan pulses with high rpm revolutions. When in high demand of gpus (only have 2 295gtxs) it heats up fast and eventually i lose gpu power. My First Rosewill it had good ratings but come on only a year. I may need to look into Thermaltake or another brand I have had more experience with; and trust in.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted 9 months

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It ran great in the beginning. And is dying a slow death trying to run a Titan GTX.

Cons: It will die, if you want a PSU that will last then look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: Not for the long term, for a quick build and benchmarking a new system it's great, if you need it to last, well......goodbye $200.00

2 out of 5 eggsI got a dud

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Modular where it counts.
Braided cables.
Fairly priced.

Cons: Didn't last. Trying to get it replaced. :(

Other Thoughts: This was in my system for a little under 2 months. At first the power supply seemed to work okay, but over the course of those two months I experienced blue screen errors on a more frequent basis. Not knowing what the problem was, I swapped in quite a few known good parts, reinstalled the OS, drivers, etc. The last two weeks before I finally removed the power supply i was having one to two BSoD's a day! Quite the frustrating experience. Currently trying to get a replacement through Rosewill. Hopefully that experience goes smoothly and the replacement part works as intended.

The power supply was used with:
Asus P6x58D-E
i7 980
24GB Ram
two Gigabyte R9 290X Windforce OC GPUs
and a few SSD

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: Rosewill TACHYON -1000 1000W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS PLATINUM, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Lots of cables, reliable psu

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this PSU to replace 2 850W PSU's that I used to run in my system. It does the job of both of them, and is less noisy.

Pros: Everything! even comes with a little cloth bag for your modular cables.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: easy to install, parts seem very high quality, I run a low power pc so I am nowhere near the max of this PSU, better safe than sorry though!
