5 out of 5 eggsBeyond expectation

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD700 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: Get the first one as a gift from last June. Just find this on newegg last week, and will buy another one for next build.
This thing is running quiet with a big fan, and it barely exhaust heat even on full load.
After 10 months 24/7 running, it is still running quiet and strong. It prove me that this guy can run! Why buy others that not been proved.
Great price for a 700Watts strong power supply.

Cons: not modular

Other Thoughts: A great choice as an upgrade power supply for the old machine.
Expect more for less money power supply!
Go Newegg! Just another good stuff inside the shell!

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointing experience with Rosewill

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD700 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: Obviously you're looking at this because the price is one of the best in the market. Has lots of connectors.

Cons: The fan was very very noisy. Even under idle loads (i7, 1 hard drive, single GPU) the fan was far louder than anything in my case. Under any kind of gaming load, it was super loud.

After 1 month the fan began to rattle at any speed. Constant clicking rattling noise.

The rebate was a big hassle, and the card expired 1 month after I received it, which is pretty bad business tactics and reflects poorly on Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I decided to pay up and purchase a decent quality power supply it's very quiet and haven't had any issues. I urge you to purchase a quality one if you want your machine to last.

4 out of 5 eggsHi mom

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD700 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: For budget builds this PS does the job just fine.

Price
Nice packaging
Has yet to explode.

Cons: Non modular
Short cables
Questionable reliability
Time will tell

Other Thoughts: I built a low power A10-7700k as a second computer just to piddle around with and this PS fit the bill just fine. It is in a medium case with the PS mounted on the bottom and the cable length's did not allow me to route them behind the MB.

Cable lengths are short enough that this PS would not work in a Full tower without extensions.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after only a few weeks

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD700 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: - Price
- Single +12v Rail

Cons: - Died after a few weeks of lite load ~50%
- Company slow to respond to RMA request.

Other Thoughts: The old adage "You get what you pay for" seems to be true in this case :(

I like Rosewill and will continue to buy their products, but in this case I suggest you look elsewhere.

4 out of 5 eggs700 WATS, what more can you say

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD700 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: cheap and powerful, works nice in my case with the front mounted PSU, this has a large intake fan on the "bottom" so in my case which mounts the PSU facing down, the intake fan slurps cool air in the front. very nice!

Cons: NOT 80+ certified (80+ power supplies will save you money!)

Other Thoughts: would probably spend the same price on a different PSU to get one with the 80+ rating

2 out of 5 eggsRD700 - Definitely doesn't supply the rated Amps/Wattage, it's inefficient as all hell, but it works

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD700 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: Cheap (like $30-40 after mir)
Works
Hasn't fried anything yet

Cons: Doesn't put out anywhere close to its rated wattage/amperage (and it seems the newegg spec list has recently taken down the +12v amperage numbers, because they must know its a blatant lie)

Horribly inefficient

Other Thoughts: So I had a (brand new) evga gtx 285 2gb card laying around that I put in my brother's computer. It kept having obvious power draw failure/black screens. The card worked 100% fine in my setup (and is an impressive card at that) with my corsair 750w, his corsair 450 was just not enough juice. Got this rd700 cheap even just as a troubleshooting tool to make sure his mobo was fine - same exact problems as with the 450w. Doesn't even put out CLOSE to the rated power. Anyone that believes the power/amp rating on this amp is a fool. The 285 is an absolute mammoth and requires 46a/550w minimum. This garbage is supposed to put out 50+a at 750.....ya...not gonna happen, not even close. Not surprised in the least, though - it was cheap, and it wasn't bronze rated. Will be using it in my rackmount computer later on down the line, since it won't have a graphics card or any power draw and efficiency won't matter.

For a cheap power supply, if you need a 700w+, you're not gonna find it. Cheap 500 watters (~$40) are everywhere, but a cheap 700w like this is just a joke, trust me.

I actually have been running the 430w model for a long time in my htpc, however, and love it.

I love rosewill, but there's literally no reason to buy this garbage. Go get a better 500w for the same price. 700w is 100% meaningless on this thing.
