Cons: dead in just a month

Other Thoughts: the usb hard drive enclosure died in less than a month.
note: i purchased 2 items by Rosewill and both of them can't even survive more than a month.

Pros: Literally plug and play set up.
Very quiet, I dont even notice that it is on.
Case is attractive.
USB 2.0 is also a plus.
Lastly, nice price.

Cons: Not really a con, but I do notice that it gets warm after a while. May or may not be a problem. I wouldnt leave it on for extended periods of time (ie a day).

Other Thoughts: It does what is is supposed to do with no problems! Good!

Pros: Nice looking unit, comes ready to use even, includes a little Phillps head screw driver.

Other Thoughts: Used to clone new SSD with no issues.

Pros: This does work with Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa.. The plug fits reasonably well. The extruded aluminum case is attractive. Newegg's service is great as always.

Cons: The ends do not fit well. They fit poorly. They are flimsy and cheaply made. I can not recommend this product. May wind up sending it back to Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I have now ordered 3 different USB Enclosures and not been happy with any of them. Maybe I'm just a cranky old man but I would like one that works and is of good construction.

Pros: None worth noting.

Cons: Poor quality control, supplied end cap screws were not threaded. Interface board did not recognize the hard drive. Thankfully, Neweggs customer service is first rate, so I'm not out the $$$ I paid for this unit.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend this unit to others.

Pros: Easy to install the hard drive and use. I installed a 500 GB Seagate drive and it works well. Copied 40 GB of data to the drive with an average throughput of 102 MB/s. Took 6 min to transfer all 40 GB. Nice and compact for easy portability.

Cons: Purely cosmetic but the blue LED activity light is in the back of the drive and does nothing to light the 'front circle'.

Other Thoughts: If you have an extra laptop hard drive laying around, this is an inexpensive way to add some additional drive space to any machine. It's worth the price and I would recommend. Would have given 5 Eggs but the LED light issue is a bad design.

-Good price (on sale)
-Seems pretty durable

Cons: -Only con is that with the HDD in there, the removable plate was a little difficult to get flush with the rest of the enclosure. Might just be the HDD that I was using.

Other Thoughts: Works as intended for a good price!

Pros: It has a nice, sturdy, extruded aluminum case with a brushed finish which feels nice to the touch. Installing the drive took about one minute, just remove two screws with the included screwdriver, put the drive in, put it back together, and BAM you're ready to go. It has some foam in the front to make sure the drive can't slide around or come loose from the connectors.

Cons: The only gripe I have so far is the little blue plastic circle on the front. I was expecting that to be a status light, but it is not one. It is just a piece of plastic on the front of it. However, with a small strip light and some electrical know-how it could easily become one!

Pros: Nice design and sturdy aluminum extrusion. USB3 interface was easily recognized and operated at a good speed. Includes a small screwdriver to use on the small screws that connect the end cap.

Cons: The USB cable is quite stiff and of relatively large diameter. It also uses a smaller connector than other USB3 devices, so don't know how easy it is to get a thinner cable. This is the reason I dropped the rating by one egg.

Note that I have other external USB3 drives that have nicer cables.

Other Thoughts: Some mentioned that there was no insulation between the case and drive. None is needed since the drive are designed to mount against a flat surface, and this case certainly offers a flat surface.

Pros: Looks nice and does the job. Kept the hard drive from an old netbook from going in the recycle bin.

Cons: There is no insulator sheet that would provide insulation between the bottom of the enclosure and a controller board of a usual 2.5 inch HDD. This had me worried at first. I did not use any material and the drive did not short out or rattle around. (Was not sure if paper, rubber or plastic or something else would work best, so went with nothing)

Other Thoughts: I will buy another if I come across another free laptop drive.
