5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: Easy open and swap out of SATA drives. Secure lid. Works with Syba MSATA SSD to SATA converter Ok. USB2 works well also.

Cons: Kind of short cable.. May be a pro for some though. Very glossy black plastic. I would rather brushed aluminum.

Other Thoughts: Using with Windows 10 and Linux kernel 4.4 just fine.
Doesn't seem to support discard to the OS when SSD installed.. Maybe it does discard internally??

3 out of 5 eggsmeh..

Pros: Sleek case, toolless, USB 3.0

Cons: Flimsy construction, standard USB 3.0 instead of using a micro USB interface for the unit.

Other Thoughts: It's a nice case but like others who have submitted a review, I encounter the random disconnect problems. Some days it works great and others it disconnects every five min. I use this case with a Seagate hybrid drive for my Xbox One and it's great when it works. Half the time the game shuts down because the unit decided to restart itself. I tested the drive in my computer to see if maybe I got a bad drive but it ran flawlessly on my rig

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible enclosure

Pros: Hmm...NONE! Stay away!

Cons: From day 1 it always had problems keeping the drives powered. It appears to have loose connection somewhere as the drive has to be tilted when plugged in or else it will loose power and randomly disconnect. This happens with all the drives I tried the enclosure with so it's definitely not the drives.

Other Thoughts: Just waisted $10

5 out of 5 eggsGood case

Pros: Nice rounded edges

Cons: *minor*, does not auto power on

Other Thoughts: Don't forgot to actually hit recessed power button. Mine does not autopower on when plugged in, thought there was something wrong with drive inside

3 out of 5 eggsYet ANOTHER USB Cable type...

Pros: great price, tool free design, lightweight, works (once you find the power button)

Cons: It has a Type A connector on it!?!?! WHY??? I'm seriously thinking of returning this little box just because of the stupid cable. Now I've got three different types of external USB drive cables - the other two are common but this is just plain weird.

It has a power button - really? Not a really bad thing but I'd much rather have a normal cable than a power button....

4 out of 5 eggsUse the On-Off Button

Pros: Work pretty well with my spare 2.5 in hdd's. USB 3 transfer speeds are respectable. Very sleek case, comes with USB3.0 cable.

Cons: I thought the first one I ordered was bad. I followed the instructions which said to insert the drive into the enclosure and plug it in with the usb 3.0 chord. I did it and nothing happened...tried everything I could think of. So I had Newegg send a replacement. Same thing. Then I noticed a little button opposite the activity indicator light...looks almost like another light. Pushed it and instantly the drive was detected. I felt a bit sheepish, because I should have looked harder, and I am pretty good with hardware.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully this will help someone that thinks the enclosure is defective and "only" follows the instructions...silly me to follow instructions, or even read them.

5 out of 5 eggsgood good good

Pros: easy setup with toolless feature,
USB 3 is true and stable.
Housing my SSD inside perfect,
and transfer data with my desktop running win 7 pro with no issue.
I figured there is no need to go with aluminum because SSD has minimum heat issue.

Simple product, not much to say, good stuff.

Cons: na

Other Thoughts: na

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not great

Pros: Reasonable transfer rates, VERY easy to use and cheap. (Shell Shocker for ~10) For me it does what I need without extra frills and is even worth the regular price.

Cons: The LOVELY fingerprint/scratch magnet glossy black finish you know you hate. Has a power button the power on the drive, granted for some this may be a pro but for me it was more of an annoyance. I've had mine for a little over a week barely used it really and I may as well have let the dog play with it in the yard for how bad it looked when I picked it up to run the benchmarks below.

Other Thoughts: There is a considerable performance hit with the SATA/USB 3.0 controller used and for some that may be an issue, for mechanical hard drives it shouldn't be a problem at all though in my case I primarily bought it for an SSD. It's not BAD but it's not great either, but enough of my opinions here's the data from a Crystal Disk Mark run on the OCZ ARC 100 240GB in my Home Theater PC vs another one in the enclosure (I have tested the second drive and it performs about the same as the other when attached to a SATA port):

Internal Drive -
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 498.065 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 430.321 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 319.564 MB/s [ 78018.6 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 354.903 MB/s [ 86646.2 IOPS]
Sequential Read (T= 1) : 392.604 MB/s
Sequential Write (T= 1) : 431.021 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 25.687 MB/s [ 6271.2 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 131.074 MB/s [ 32000.5 IOPS]

External Drive -
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 203.867 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 221.012 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 17.010 MB/s [ 4152.8 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 36.813 MB/s [ 8987.5 IOPS]
Sequential Read (T= 1) : 215.819 MB/s
Sequential Write (T= 1) : 243.467 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 14.061 MB/s [ 3432.9 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 25.505 MB/s [ 6226.8 IOPS]

Tested on the Same PC using the ports from the H97 Chipset

Personally it's "good enough" but hopefully that gives you an idea if it's good enough for you.
