4 out of 5 eggsGreat KVM "No cables or power included."

Pros: This thing is great. Fast Switching if configured Properly!

Cons: No cables included

Other Thoughts: Ok for all you people having problems, First problem is when you switch it takes forever. The reason you probably are having difficulty is that your power settings. If you are using the Basic power setting it has the usb selective suspending setting Enabled! Disable it and it should work properly. When you computer is setting not being used it turns the usb ports off. It is a common problem with windows. 2nd If you are going to use a usb drive on the KVM it will require more power get a adapter. I have all 4 pcs hooked up to kvm when power is set to high performance it switches in 1 second if i turn on power saver mode it takes about 5 seconds because it has to wake up the usb. I hope this helped. P.S. SHOULD OF COME WITH A POWER PLUB FOR THE PRICE!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsNon-Functional Unit

Pros: Nice looking unit with solid steel case

Cons: Unit was DOA. Hooked up to 2 PCs and 2 servers and 5v power supply -> port indicators lit up but no video, no switching. Verified video to end of new Startech cables and power supply had 5v with center positive.

Other Thoughts: I think I just got a bad unit by luck of the draw, it happens.

3 out of 5 eggsSLOW USB switching

Pros: Easy button push to switch from computer to computer, supports good resolutions

Cons: When you switch, it take a long time for the computer to recognize the mouse and keyboard.

No power Cord included, so it doesn't work well when just one computer is running.

Other Thoughts: Many would expect the KVM cables to be included in the box, but they arn't, I think that it is good because you could get 6ft or 15ft or 25 ft depending on your setup.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Visually attractive with easy access to bottons

Cons: no cables
transition between different OS is horrible, would take about 10 seconds to get control of keyboard and mouse after switching from one PC to next. Many times i was forced to reinsert the cables to get control of keyboard/mouse.

Other Thoughts: Very dissapointed with this product and after reading the comments from others, i now know i should have read them more carefully as well.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Quality KVM

Pros: The KVM switch itself is made out of metal and is great quality. I have used this brand before (and a few others) but Starview makes the best product. The Starview switch that I used in the rack at my old place of employment was still going strong after more than 10 years so I bought one for the rack we have here. The lights on the buttons are easy to understand and the single USB/VGA cords are a nicety.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you read the information about this product before you buy. It DOES NOT come with cables and you must purchase them separately.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have owned several KVM Switch Boxes over the years and this is the best unit so far, hands down. Three machines; [1] Laptop XP Pro; [1] Mid Tower XP Pro and another Mid Tower W 7 64 bit. The machines and video cards range from 2006 to 2010 vintages’. All three machines see and utilize the mouse, keyboard and LG Flatron Screen with no trouble. The "StarView" unit is robustly made and the lit readouts are pleasant in a appearance. Great Unit!

Cons: The customer must buy the cables and power adapter separately. The "StarView" sale sheets and data sheets do not clearly advise the customer to this fact nor clearly calls out these requirements. I am sure many customers overlook this subtlety and are disappointed when the unit arrives without cables or a power adapter.

Other Thoughts: When buying the cables, do not overlook that the cables must conform to the specific male/female connection configuration. Also, the power adapter must meet the unit's required specs (5v DC up to 2 A).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Works well with my Logitech G15 keyboard. I am using it with a 5V power supply. Supports the high resolution and refresh of my CRT. Currently running 1280x1024 160 Hertz. High build quality.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsMesses with other USB ports

Pros: It does swtich my usb keyboard and mouse (After a three to five second delay)

Cons: I can't use a flash drive on ANY USB port in any machine once this piece of karp is plugged into them. Unplug the USB cable feeding the KVM and they all work again. I have dongles for software on each of these seperate machines and the other USB ports on the individual machines must work or the software doesn't. If I plug a Kingston 8GB flash (for instance) into the hub on the KVM the computer pops up and says the power has been exceeded on it's port. If I plug the same drive into a regular port on any machine that this is connected to the computer says "this device has malfunctioned" and doesn't work. But if I unplug the KVM every thing works perfectly including the flash drive.
Note; multiple Windows XP Pro machines using P43.6GHT procs and ample memory... Not happy with this unit at all!

Other Thoughts: I will go buy a 5v switching power adapter today and see if this fixes the problem. If not it's heading back to Newegg, or the trash can which ever is cheapest!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Product arrived on time and in good condition. Drop-in operation on 2 "home-made" towers and a Gateway Tablet PC (all 3 running XP Pro). All computers retain screen resolution/orientation after switching, even when using the switched monitor as an extended desktop on the tablet. I use it to switch a Dell 1440x900 LCD, an HP wireless keyboard, and a Logitech optical trackman mouse.

Cons: For the towers, the KVM has to have the computer selected when the computer boots. The laptop has to be booted, with the KVM USB plugged in and selected BEFORE plugging in the KVM VGA cable to retain previous resolution and settings. With these caveats, it works perfectly, does all I would expect.

I agree, that, for the price, it should have included a wall-wart.

Other Thoughts: I tend to keep the printer, scanner, external HDD, and other peripherals connected directly to a computer rather than going through the KVM, so I can't speak to how well it switches them.
