Pros: This switch is fantastic so far. It was easy to hook up, intuitive, and worked as soon as I had everything booted up. I have a PC (for everything) and a Mac Pro (audio engineering) hooked up to it and it transitions between the two seamlessly. I even have my USB audio interface plugged into the switch and it handles the switch between computers perfectly. As far as operation, I have no complaints.

Cons: It didn't come with USB A/B cables. You'd think that if you're paying over $100 for a piece of hardware that requires USB A/B cables to function they'd be in the box. That was pretty frustrating since I didn't realize it didn't come with any and the only ones I could get locally were from Be$tBuy (24.99 each). Needless to say, I'm ordering some on newegg and taking the BB ones back since they're like $5 max here.

Other Thoughts: I'll update this if I ever have a problem, but for now I'm quite satisfied!

Pros: Easy to setup, straightforward in basic cases

Cons: Deos not communicate monitor info to host pc, host pc running windows 7 will detect generic pnp monitor and max resolution of 1280 X 1024. Do not use with a decent or better monitor.

Cons: Will not work with Mac Monitors. Called Tech support they are aware of the problem but do not have an answer....

Pros: If it works at all, the video signal is not degraded significantly.

Cons: Using the dedicated mouse/keyboard ports, the mouse response is choppy at best. The keyboard drops out constantly, and often repeats characters 20-30 times. When the device is first powered, it doesn't pass video until the cables are unplugged and plugged back in few times. (The cables are fine, tested elsewhere.) At random other times it will stop passing video on whichever port hasn't been used in a while.

Other Thoughts: Was able to get the keyboard and mouse to work only using the hub ports, which disables using hot-keys and requires the power brick. This is the worst product I've ever purchased from Newegg.

Pros: Does it's job ok, and in a server room is probably excellent. I've noted littled video degradation at 1600x1200 and it seems quite reliable. Overall it's great, but it's not suitable for gaming or other high-end tasks. For your server room it's the cheese.

Cons: Does NOT support newer mice (4-5 button). Even if you plug newer mice into the USB hub rather than the mouse port (USB 2.0 vs 1.x) a five button mouse behaves oddly. Also, with vista I've experienced a lot of mouse freezes plugging the mouse into the hub rather than the mouse port. In the end, this switch only emulatese BASIC hardware. No mouse or keyboard expanded functions work. This is my experience with an M$ wireless mouse/keyboard 5000 and 3000. I also tested a logitech hard-wired 5-button mouse.

Other Thoughts: In the end, it's a good piece of hardware for base tasks such as server room usage. If you want to switch between a work pc (laptop) and a gaming pc then you need something better.

Pros: No problems encountered with any OS - switching was prompt and provided immediate use of the target computer. I tried this out with a few systems, including desktop Linux (Ubuntu 7.10), Windows XP (32 and 64bit), and a MacBook Pro. My Windows keyboard extras all seemed to work right plugged into the keyboard port (I never use them though). Wired mouse seemed to be OK. Switching works without power.

Cons: To use my Logitech MX Revolution I had to plug the receiver into the USB Hub portion, which means this has to be powered to use this mouse. Response was incredibly sluggish and laggy plugged into the mouse port. The good news is, it works, and all OS's recognized all the buttons.

Other Thoughts: After all the mixed reviews and problems folks are having, I was worried I would encounter problems - I needed a USB/DVI KVM at work though, so took the chance. I used basic DVI and USB cables with this which cost about a third of what the official KVM cables cost.

Pros: Easy hook up, switches quickly between PCs. Video is very clear. after all of the bad reviews for KVM switches in general, i feel like this must be the one that actually works.

Cons: USB bridge requires power adapter.

Other Thoughts: I do not use the USB bridge since i'm maxed out on power outlets and didn't want to figure out a way to plug this in.

Pros: Works great. Switches between PCs very quickly, under 1 second, no lag switching the USB keyboard or mouse. My previous DVI KVM displayed garbled video, probably because of cheap onboard video card. this one has none of those problems

Cons: Doesn't come with any cables.

Other Thoughts: I have a PS2 keyboard. I needed a ps2-usb converter. Startech makes one that worked great for me.

Pros: Running @ 1680x1050 with no problems, great picture. Internal hub is a nice feature. Good little box for the money and I would buy it again.

Cons: No cables - not that big of a deal, but I discovered that the cable that came with my HP W2207 doesn't work with the box. That was after an hour of pulling my hair out thinking that the box didn't support the resolution. I tried newegg support but that wasn't helpful.
DVI-D tripp-lites work great.
Last thing to note is the keyboard and mouse situation. Using the console ports left me with no mouse, but plugging the desktop receiver into the provided USB hub got it working. Only drawback is the PC's detect new hardware for 2 seconds when I switch from one system to the other. No biggie.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg describes the KVM as supporting 1600x1200, according to the manufacturer, it's actually = "Maximum Digital Resolutions 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz" - so I had to gamble on it working, luckily it did.

I emailed Startech support and inquired if there was a fix when I couldn't get the mouse working. I got an email back from them in less than 24 hours - which I did appreciate. They said that their KNMs don't support all wireless keyboard and mice setups - not helpful, but it was a response.

Pros: When it's working, the clarity & convenience is great...

Cons: ...however, it usually takes an hour of futzing with it to get it to work.

Other Thoughts: This is by far the most troublesome KVM I've ever encountered. Buy something else... (anything else!) ...just don't buy this troublesome time waster!
