3 out of 5 eggsOkay, but they didn't do modularity well

Pros: This is a solid little power supply, I've been running it in my main daily-use PC for nearly a year with no power issues.

Cons: The weird take on "modular" is not great. As seen in the photos and the other reviews here, the powerr supply has a weird proprietary cable that plugs into a breakout box which itself takes the modular cords, and which you are left to find room for in your case. The proprietary cord connecting this to the PSU is very short, further limiting your choices of where to put it.

They give you some velcro tape to stick the box to the inside of your case, which is what I did, but I'm running in a very roomy server tower so I have that luxury. I've had many builds in smaller normal-sized cases, and if I'd bought this for one of those I'd be very disappointed; there'd be nowhere to stash this extra plastic hunk.

Other Thoughts: I wish companies would stop trying to be "clever" and add more complexity to a good idea which actually makes it less useful, as this manufacturer did here. Modular plugs should plug into the PSU, there's no good reason for a manufacturer to screw around like this an add further points of failure and hassle.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: not cheaply built, seems reliable, gold

Cons: "Smart Connector Management System" is a total flop. I would not recommend this PSU to anyone, unless it was really cheap, for solely that reason.

4 out of 5 eggsOK after 6 months

Pros: 750 W, Semi modular, runs OK. good price.
After 6 months no problems with the unit. The semi modular characteristic makes cable management easier.

Cons: This is not fully modular. It would be more flexible if it were.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this usit because of the price on the Shellshocker. XClio doesn't have the reputation of other OEMs of PSUs, and should strive to compete on price. I can now recommend this PSU if you can get as a Shellshocker or a daily deal, but it is not the first brand I look for.
Don't shy away if you can get a deal on this PSU.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Not bad, so far, but other reviews make me wary of the longer term. I did some research on this unit before deciding on it as a Shellshocker, and they were mixed.

After a week long burn in it seems OK, but just OK.

Cons: Questionable quality.

Other Thoughts: This PSU doesn't deserve a pan, from my experience, but it doesn't seem a "buy". either.

3 out of 5 eggsgood shell shocker buy but otherwise buy something else

Pros: *was a cheap shell shocker buy
*semi-modular takes away un-needed cables

Cons: *the semi modular box that comes with this psu is a good idea in theory but the power connector for it is very short. not even long enough to be able to hide it in a hard drive bay. so cable management wasnt easy or even necessarily achievable.

Other Thoughts: *if you want a modular psu, buy one, not this.
*if it's on sale, and you dont care about cable management its a solid built heavy psu with 80 plus bronze cert. and it works.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Unit has a solid feel to it and looks like a fairly quality product. There are 4 chords coming out of the unit itself/not modular: chord-1: main 24pin plug to mobo, chord-2:a seperate 8-pin plug to mobo, chord 3-a seperate 2x 4-pin plug to mobo, chord-4:plug to the seperate plasic modular housing unit thingy.

Unlike most modular PSUs, the modular chords plug into a separate plastic thing that you can locate somewhere in your case and stick with the included velcro, all the modular chords DO NOT plug directly into your PSU unit so be aware if that's what you're looking for. You can't locate it too far because the chord to the modular unit is only 6-inches long. It's a neat idea but wish the chord was longer.

There are a variety of modular chords. I like that they had two 6-pin PCIe chords and two 6+2-pin PCIe chords because I have a GTX 680 and I was able to just use the two 6-pin PCIe chords without that unsightly extra 2-pin hanging around (reference GTX 680 only uses 2x 6-pin

Cons: -Short main modular cable. Although all the other cables are plenty long.
-no modular storage case (being picky)
-generic instruction manual (not informative and more like an advertisement for the product rather than an actual manual)
-again being pick but although newegg says it, and the official website says it, no where on the box or the unit itself does it say that it is 80 bronze rated, no badge, sticker - nothing. It's a bit of a big deal to me because I build and sell PCs and customers tend to focus on “seals of assurance” or lack thereof. It takes away from it a little.

Other Thoughts: This replaced a lower wattage ANTEC, pushing an AMD B93 quad core, ASUS mobo, 8 GB DDR3, patriot SSD, 1TB HD, PNY Nvidia GTX 680 with no problem. I stressed tested the PSU running NVIDIA's "New Dawn" demo on max settings with prime95 heat stress test running in the background for a full 24-hrs with no issues. The PC has been left on 24/7 for almost 2 weeks straight for netflix, BF3 etc. and has never shut off on me or caused any issue of concern...so yes it is running stable and silent. Will let you know if something changes. I'm not too familiar w/this brand (usually stick to Antec, OCZ, Coolermaster, Corsair etc.), but as it stands, I will recommend this PSU.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: None.

Cons: I had this PSU since 9/5/12, been using it and has been working great. I noticed a strange, slight burning smell throughout but I waved it off as nothing. However, today 9/7/12, while I was gaming, the computer suddenly shut down and refused to power back on. I opened my rig and the PSU was burning hot to the touch, and the burning smell was very prominent now.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this, get a good name-brand PSU like Corsair or Seasonic.

5 out of 5 eggsWow Neat and haven't even installed

Pros: Just got this power supply the other day and haven't even installed as of yet but really like what I am seeing. Didn't realize it was partially modular but with the cable management solution that I see in the box see lots of possibilities. Have just a few more things to get before I embark of building my monster but with most of the parts coming from Newegg see nothing but good things on the horizon.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Other Thoughts: Having a hard time deciding which CPU to go for I5 or I7 but think I may end up going for the gusto and making it an I7.

2 out of 5 eggsNo.

Pros: -Modular? (see below)
-750w (see below)
-Didnt catch on fire (See xclio A380 case review)

Cons: -The Modular portion of the PSU is a seperate device, as seen in the picture. Seems awesome. Problem is the cable to connect to it is only a few inches long, and the only flate surface to mount it (In an xclio case mind you) was in a front bay. Nice.
-Oh, the power supply isnt stable. Im running a i5-2500k, no overclock, and a 6850 HD, and the computer would shut of randomly, and the booting process consisted of the cpu fan spinng. then stopping. then spinning. then stopping. then starting up. forgot that part. RMA'd with the case. Tested the computer with a 450w rocketfish (best buy brand) PSU and worked fine.

Other Thoughts: I would avoid it, disappointed with xclio.
