5 out of 5 eggseasiest setup I have ever seen

Pros: Seriously the easiest setup I have seen of external enclosures. Just slide the SATA hard drive in the box. No wires were needed for the inside.

Cons: Bulky AC adapter.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick load/unload. Attractive looking.

Cons: None that I can see. Maybe if you were stuck on a deserted island and you didn't have a paperclip, you might not be able to open the enclosure to get your drive out.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a good external holder that's attractive and you can load your drive into in about 5 seconds, this is an excellent choice.

Some may fault the pinhole door release button, but if your like me, you'll just get in the habit of keeping the release pin or a paperclip on your desk. I like it since it prevents unwanted access and accidental opening.

SATA and USB gives you the best of speed and compatability, although not at the same time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product Worked with No Problems

Pros: Popped a harddrive in, hooked up to a Linux computer, and was able to access files with 0 issues from the windows partition.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Did exactly what I needed. Speed was not a concern at all so I did not benchmark or perform other tests on this.

4 out of 5 eggsworks - could be better with minor revisions

Pros: Easy to set up and use. Very simple to replace drives

Cons: No fan, the case is the heatsink

Other Thoughts: I would have paid $5 more is i could have found this with a fan. I would have preferred that this had the mech styule case of the consus et-csnpsu2, but this one is much simpler to replace the drive in. I'll probably rig something up to get a small fan in there as i an worried that the drive will get too hot. the case has never gotten very hot.

4 out of 5 eggsCase good, Pwr Brick Bad

Pros: Easy to open/close. (forget the dorky key it comes with and just use a paperclip) performance seems Fine. But best off they are "sleek/small" and don't have a lot of lame LED's and extra case doo-dads you don't need.

Cons: I've bought 5 of these in 3 batches over maybe 18 months, 2 then 2 then just recently another 1. I bought them so they would be uniform looking and all interchangeable and I liked them, but every batch has a new power supply plug in the back of the unit and matching (different) brick style, so all my interop is gone. And to make things worse, I've now had 1 power supply from the 1st batch and 1 from the 2nd batch "go bad", so unless I find another power brick I have a useless enclosure. I'm just keeping the enclosures as spares now in case the matching enclosure with the remaining good power supply goes bad. Also the very latest power brink has a pretty hideous sized plug, a sideways monstronsity that takes up way too much power strip space.

Other Thoughts: Can get pretty hot to the touch, so use the upright standing bracket to ensure plenty of airflow as the case is the heatsink. Haven't had any drives fail in them yet so guess they aren't TOO hot, but if you won't be using in cooler enviroment consider a case with a fan.

5 out of 5 eggsSlim and effective

Pros: Slim with very small footprint. Easy to eject drive and install replacement. USB2 and eSata both work great.

Cons: I've not had any problems in almost two years.

Other Thoughts: After owning this, I would never purchase an enclosure that did not allow for easy drive removal. I have three different drives I use in this case. Swapping them is a breeze.

2 out of 5 eggsAlright product, not that great.

Pros: - It works as it should

That's about it.

Cons: - Not recognized the first time it's turned on.
- Just like Waicool, the drive pops open without warning.

Other Thoughts: Once it started popping open randomly, I had to take out the hard drive, and bend the metal that slides in. Once I bent it a little, it doesn't randomly pop out anymore.

3 out of 5 eggsGood product with a few major problems

Pros: Small and has all inputs except for firewire which is no big deal.

Cons: It gets very hot when used for more than an hour or so.
The enclosure i received is only recognized by any computer 1 out of every 3 times i turn it on.
Being so thin if the drive makes any noise at all it is very loud

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a champ

Pros: Quiet. No problems. Slim case. Extra vent holes help cool the hard drive. I own three and am ordering one more.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I use this with Seagate HDD 1T|ST 7K 32M SATA2 ST31000340AS - OEM as external storage for Dish Network receiver

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has been rock-solid in our hands. Tool-free feature for swapping drives is great, and the main attraction to this model. Hot-swap works in both Linux and Windows XP (in my hands). Comes with all necessary cables. Reasonable price for what you get.

Cons: No drive activity light. The power light might brighten slightly during drive activity, but an actual activity light would be much better.

Other Thoughts: Since buying this, we bought another two for work. We all use these for data archiving/backup, so we don't use them for more than a few hours at a time, but we do swap drives regularly and have had no reliability issues. We mostly use the eSATA connection and performance is what you'd expect - it's just like moving a SATA port outside the computer.
