5 out of 5 eggsNo Brainer Get One or Two...

Pros: THIS DOES WORK ON XP! If you can’t get this to work on XP you either need to install the correct drivers for your MB or you have something awry with your OS and should consider re-installing. This great product works on Microsoft Windows 98se, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, as well as Mac OS 9.0 or Later, and Linux. As far as dust goes; if you are worried about this just do as I do and keep the drive in it’s very nice leather-like case which works very well and helps protect against physical shock as well as spills also. This is truly a great product I have 4 of them in both IDE & SATA and have been using them for over a year now with absolutely NO PROBLEMS what so ever. I build and fix computers for people & businesses and these are valuable tools to have and rely on. And by the way you don’t buy a external drive bay to swap drives in if you need to do this then look at a BT-300/3000 gadget as it will work much better for that, I know I have several of those too.

Cons: Absolutely none, you can’t beat the price or quality, period! And yes the screw can be difficault to screw in but that is minor really.

Other Thoughts: It amazes me when I see people on this site claim to be of high knowledge but report product problems that are really operator error or like with DOA’s could fall within the 1% failure that is acceptable for most products. Beware of these people don’t believe everyone that reports issues and remember even experts make mistakes from time to time.

5 out of 5 eggsfit the bill!!

Pros: needed to reformat my brother's laptop...but i needed to save all his "important" information found on his hard drive. this device saved him a few hundred dollars from having to go to the store to have it fixed/reformatted

Cons: screws didnt fit nicely....but that pretty much meant i didnt have to worry about it overheating

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it worked

Pros: Small, easy to set up, single cable (Y-cable)

Cons: Screws didn't fit perfectly, and the device completely stopped working after two or three months. It no longer reported itself as a storage device (instead, Vendor-Specific class 255), listed no endpoints, and continually disconnected/reconnected. Not sure how this happened, it was in my bag before it stopped working.

Other Thoughts: Looks cool but isn't practical if you live in a dusty house and you prefer clean things. Get what you pay for- I didn't use the manufacturer's return process because shipping it out would cost me as much as the enclosure did to begin with

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks Good

Cons: Piece of Garb... stopped working after 2 days, don't buy products that are from eaglebit, just search google for reviews of the company products and you'll see.

Don't waste your money, it's not even worth to send it back to newegg since they wouldn't cover the shipping and it will endup costing me more than it is worth.

Other Thoughts: Worst piece of hardware I have ever seen in my life.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Enclosure

Pros: I've had this for about 10 months now and it has been excellent. Runs off one USB plug on most desktop computers, although I found it needs both plugs (included) for laptops running off battery power. Extremely durable; I end up tossing in my backpack for school quite often and it hasn't shown any wear. The "mesh" enclosure helps keep the drive cool.

Cons: The mesh enclosure could potentially let in dirt or spilled water which could be hazardous, so be careful.

Other Thoughts: Cheaper to buy this and an internal laptop HDD than to buy a ready made external drive, and an even better option if upgrading a laptop drive and using the old one in this as an external.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine, Looks great.

Pros: Does what I need it to. Hooked a 120 GB laptop HD in it after I upgraded to a 320 GB fit fine (as it should). Very goodlooking like the mesh.

Cons: Screws are a pain but i dont plan to take it out of the case for a while.

Other Thoughts: I tought that It was going to be that stupid fake mesh and when it was acctually see-through i was very happy. Driver CD not needed. NewEgg had it in my habds in likr 5 days but i did order it on a Saturday night so thats to be expected.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: It worked

Cons: I replaced the hard drive I had in the enclosure and the connector broke off.
So I would not buy this enclosure.

Pros: SATA interface works fine

Cons: Parts missing (four retaining screws for top of enclosure), can not get a reply from Eagle Tech support despite multiple attempts.

Other Thoughts: Buy a different name brand.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad...

Pros: Cheap. Holds my hard drive. Have yet to *need* the double-usb cable. Sometimes it will even spin up with a retractable cable (Hitachi 60gb from my Lenovo R60). Good transfer rates. Seems very stable from a hardware perspective.

Cons: Not the most sturdy creation. Would not think to make a habit of changing drives in the case. Slightly larger pouch able to accommodate the cable would have been nice. Would not boot to xp still installed on the old drive, would have been more convenient and saved taking it apart once or twice. Be careful with the microscopic screws, though they did give me one extra.

Other Thoughts: Might as well not spend any more if you are just using it as not to waste an old laptop drive, but I would probably not use it as a primary external storage device. I feel as though I got my money's worth out of it, assuming it doesn't die. I used it to house my old drive when I upgraded my notebook to a 250gb.
