2 out of 5 eggseSATA Does not work

Pros: Solid construction. USB 2.0 works like it should and has USB hub built in. Card reader works like it should.

Cons: eSATA does not work. Tried on multiple machines with multiple cables with no luck.

Other Thoughts: The USB only model is a few bucks cheaper. Since USB works on this one it is not worth my time to try and RMA this one. Go for the USB only models.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective?

Pros: Lots of device options

Cons: Was either defective or doesn't work with any of my hardware. Manual/Instructions are pathetic. Customer support website for eagle STINKS.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if my device was defective or what, but I couldn't make this thing work reliably at all.

The eSata capability flat out wouldn't work. No matter how many times I verified all my settings, Windows disk manager would see the disk device, I would try to initialize/format it, and 5 seconds later I'd get an error saying "device not connected". I would have to reboot the computer for it to even detect the device again, but the same thing would occur. Tried multiple cables, no change. Tried multiple disks... same deal.

With USB it wasn't much better. Sometimes it would see a disk device, sometimes it would even let me write to it, but within about 5 minutes it would always get hung, freeze Windows Explorer, or just simply "disappear", no matter what disk I used and no matter which USB port I plugged into.

Maybe it was defective... but whatever. I'm returning it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Dock - No Issues So Far

Pros: ESATA Speed
No cage needed to connect internal SATA drives externally

Cons: Would be nice to be able to connect the USB and ESATA cables at the same time so you could use ESATA for the drive while using USB for the card reader and USB hub.

Other Thoughts: I saw a few people comment that the hot plug feature doesn't work... it actually works just fine but you have to have your SATA controller running in AHCI mode (not IDE emulation). The no hot plug limitation when running in IDE emulation mode on your controller has nothing to do with this dock. It is a property of the SATA controller you are connecting the ESATA cable to.

1 out of 5 eggsNice brick

Pros: Um... well, the USB part worked

Cons: The eSATA didn't work at all, the outside of the connector seems malformed

Other Thoughts: The power switch only controls power to the drive

4 out of 5 eggsSSD Support

Pros: Almost everything works - USB hub, memory readers and SATA drives.

Cons: Would not read my SSD Drives! It looks like a direct copy of my Thermaltake unit in shape and size.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Accessory

Pros: Small footprint, hot swap sata drives, eSata connection is fast, very stable construction ( not a lightweight peice of plastic )

Cons: I only wish there were two bays for hard drives on this model.

Other Thoughts: I've had this model for about 5 months now and it is invaluable to me. I'm constantly having to change out user's pc's and laptops. Being able to set this on their desk with their old hard drive in it for them to copy over all their files is so convenient. It works great for me personally for doing backup to disk operations. I can image my whole pc over to this external hard drive, then store it in case my machine ever goes down. The eSata is very fast, I can ghost over a 160GB image in about 15 minutes. Card readers and usb ports are a bonus, really removed a lot of clutter from my desk.
