2 out of 5 eggsNot sure

Pros: Lots of connectors made it easy to hook up to my ASUS A8N-Sli Deluxe Motherboard.

Cons: When I first built my computer in 2005, I used a different Enermax PSU. In September 2007 it died. I wasn't too upset. I had done a bit of moving in the past couple years and figured it probably got jumbled a bit more than it should have.

I replaced that power supply with this one, which has a lot more Wattage. This one died in January 2008 for absolutely no reason. Just one day the computer wouldn't turn back on and after testing RAM, CPU, Mainboard etc, I concluded it had to be the PSU again.

I didn't really want to replace it with another Enermax product, but money was an issue so I took an RMA over a dead computer.

Other Thoughts: I really like the design of this PSU. The dual fans are nice. However, I don't trust this brand anymore. The manufacturer's warranty is VERY limited. Thank goodness Newegg guarantees purchases for a year!

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsnot good for OC'ing

Pros: high wattage, good power source for a low power system.

Cons: not enough power for a system with a high GPU OC & proc. OC. When my proc. E6420 is OC'd to 3.2ghz (400x8) and my GPU (8800GTS 320 KO) OC'd to 688/1693/1000 I get the scream of not enough power from my video card, the same sound as if you forget to plug in the PCIe power.

2 out of 5 eggsGood for 2.5 years... then POP.

Pros: Long connectors, quiet, fairly stable, I like the fan staying on to cool down after power-off. Pushed SLI 6800 Ultras, and for the last year my 8800GTX, along with H20 and many drives with fairly large OC on CPU/GPU.

Cons: Boom, POP, fizzle, stinky. Good thing I have a UPS which immediately cut power to keep my house from burning down when this thing decided it had served me for long enough. I tried plugging it in the wall during diag with a PSU tester and it wasn't hosed enough to trip my home circuit breaker, but it was enough to spark, smoke, flame and pop....

Other Thoughts: I probably have a month or so left within the three year warranty... but I'm not going to bother based on what other reviewers have said about Enermax and RMAs. No more Enermax PSUs for me.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems What So Ever

Pros: Had product for almost 3 years now and not one problem at all. Ive seen the other reviews of people having problems and honestly cant say the same for myself.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I paid 155.00 almost 3 years ago for it and i feel it was worth every dollar. I just hope it can handle my next upgrade in a couple months.

1 out of 5 eggsDouble Failure

Pros: It works okay, when it works.

Cons: Not happy with this unit or the company. 2 have gone bad in 32 months. The first started sizzling and popping after a couple of months. The second one just up and died. Computer gets a lot of use, but it is not stressed in any way. I do not over clock, game, or anything like that. I had to RMA both. I use my computer for business, so it is down for 2-3 weeks while I go through the RMA process. Shipping back to Enermax gets costly too. They know these are defective, and should cross ship. I can’t give them any more business with a track record like this.

Other Thoughts: Enermax should start replacing these with upgraded units.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it worked

Pros: It worked flawless until it blew.

Cons: It flashed and smoked after 1yr 7mo. It wasn't ever coming close to peak performance during this time.

Other Thoughts: Working with Enermax for an RMA. Hopefully the next one lasts longer.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 1.6 years

Pros: None

Cons: PSU failed after 1.6 years useage.

No extra power demands were placed on PSU and entire PC was plugged into a UPS with surge protection entire time.

1 out of 5 eggsshoddy psu

Pros: looks good.has very solid rails underload.runs virtually silent.cable length is optimal for a large case.

Cons: may have actually gotten 100 hours out of this thing before it died.i am in the process of rmaing it thru enermax.very disappointed in this model.i honestly dont know why enermax would continue to sell this model.take the loss and discontinue this model before you lose anymore customers enermax.

Other Thoughts: this psu was only used for brief periods in my backup system.over roughly 6 months before it died.i cant recommend this psu, period.for the money there are MUCH better choices.
