Reach for the stars with the Enermax Galaxy PSU. This 1000W unit has five +12V rails to power workstation and server class systems, or today’s average gaming rig. Two variable speed fans, an 80mm on the back and a 135mm on the bottom work in concert to keep the air flowing for efficient thermal dissipation.
The modular cable design provides you with a fully customizable power solution. Two PCIe sockets let you attach multiple video cards, or run extra power to the mobo for multi-CPU configurations. Six drive/peripheral connectors let you connect a plethora of drives for large storage arrays. There are multiple cable sets for SATA and molex connectors.

Great Power Supply
- Pros: This is the best power supply offered at great price. Five seperate rails make it very easy to distribite the power between components. Very quite and very cool. Great technical support.
- Cons: manual does not say which cable belongs to what rail.
- Other Thoughts: I had to call technical support to find out what cables belong to what rail, I was told the following assignements:
1. (2) Modular PCI-E connectors. 2. (6) Modular Molex connectors. 3. Hardwired Yellow/black cables (CPU, RAM/SLI-AUX, 3rd PCI-E). 4. Hardwired Yellow/Green (PCI-E & Molex). 5. Hardwired Yellow/Blue (PCI-E & Molex). NOTE: Tech support recommended not to use HardWired Yellow/Black PCE-I if possible because it shares the same rail with CPU/MOBO. In my SLi 8800GTX setup I used PCI-E Yellow/Green + PCI-E Modular for 1st video card, and PCI-E Yellow/Blue + PCI-E Modular for 2nd video card.
I wish PCI-E cables wired and modular were about 8 inches longer, not a big deal in my case, cable just do not look like a wanted it as I had to run them straight down from PSU through middle of the case to GPUs.
Brings Frankenputer to Life!
- Pros: All the power you'll EVER need... all the plug types you'll EVER see... all the adaptor cables you'll EVER require.
- Cons: You can pump iron at home with this weighty beast if you can't afford a membership at your local gym. BE AWARE... you MUST use a FULL-SINEWAVE UPS for back-up power (you gotta READ that fine print in the instruction manual). Any other type can make this power supply run quirky. Talk with your UPS manufacturer BEFORE you buy!
- Other Thoughts: I'm running a QX-6700 proc, Zalman 9600 cpu fan, ASUS Striker Extreme mobo, 4 GB of G-Skill RAM, NVidia 8800GTX video, 1.5 TB (3) hard drives. This power supply is just loafing! It doesn't even blow warm air!

Very Impressed!
- Pros: Been using this for about 9 months now, and Love It! Very impressed with the way this unit works, and would buy another if I needed it!
DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND READ HOW TO INSTALL AND USE THIS!
I've read some negative comments about this supply and I'm conviced most are user created, not Enermax created. There is a right way to use PSUs and a wrong way. When building systems, not everything is going to be plug and play. You need to READ about the device first!
- Cons: None. (Oh, maybe one, but not a biggie... would have been nice if the manual had a VERY detailed map/description of which rails are assigned to what power connectors and hard wired connections)
- Other Thoughts: I've been purchasing and using Enermax PSUs for over 10 years now, and consider them the defacto for reliable units. I can honestly say, other than wearing some out, (I'm a heavy user) I've never had problems. Love 'em!

Manufacturer Response:Dear Value Customer, Thank you for your honest feedback we will input your feedback to our HQ about the manual for rail assign. Thank you for choosing Enermax, if you have any question please feel free to contact us @ 888-778-7878. Sincerely, Team Enermax USA
Amazing...
- Pros: I've went through several high-end (and expensive) power supplies trying to power the following setup, and finally, this one did it...
Tyan Tempest S5397AG2NRF Dual 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Xeon X5482 Harpertown 64GB (16 x 4GB) DDR2 FB-DIMM @ 800MHz with IDC3 Stepping GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB ram 750GB Seagate (boot drive) 4 x 1TB Seagate tons of expansion cards... and tons and tons of fans to keep this rig from starting a fire...
What more can I say? It advertises that it can handle power-hungry workstations and it actually does...
- Cons: A little pricey, but it powers on my workstation. Can't complain...
Just to be nitpicky...
The bag that comes with it to hold the extra cables is inadequate. It's too small and doesn't close very securely. But then, I'm only running 1 video card and "only" 5 hard drives so I'm using 2 of like the 50 modular cables it comes with... The rest of which don't really fit into the bag.
Just look at those pictures... There's no way you can possibly fit all those cables into that little bag. (And they don't...)
Aside from that... Great power supply :)
- Other Thoughts: This PS finally ended my 2-month long frustration...
I went through several high-end gaming power supplies but none of them could handle the sheer wattage that 64GB of ram can pull. Apparently, most power supplies have separate rails for PCI-e and CPU/mobo/ram. Which explains why high-end gaming PS's that can handle 4 full-sized video cards usually don't stand a chance against 16 FB-DIMMs and 300 watts of CPU.
And if you're wondering, I use this computer for programming, number-crunching, and gaming. (It runs Crysis pretty well on max settings as long as the resolution isn't too high.)
Just ok
- Pros: Lots of power for just about anything. 1yr replacement from NewEgg and 3yr from Enermax.
- Cons: This is the first psu that i have ever had fail. I have also read somewhere that this psu did not pass the 1k tests.
- Other Thoughts: Not a bad psu but if i could go back and do it again i would go with the 1k Corsair
