5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: Format my hardrive and inserted hardrive inside the exclosure. Everything work fine.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: After you receive your hardrive package from Newegg, you need to let your hardrive run for 5 minutes. This ensure all the components inside the hard drive are in correct position.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid enclosure, nice and cool, one potential gotcha

Pros: Cool and quiet operation, compact case, easy assembly-even included the required screwdriver, carry case prevents scratches to finish if you intend to transport drive. Just dropped in the SATA drive and all works great. Looks nice too.

Cons: Just make sure you use the Enermax USB cable! After removing a Toshiba drive from its plastic enclosure and placing it in the Enermax enclosure I hooked the thing to my PC using the shorter (Toshiba USB 2.0) drive cable. Transfer rates were at USB 1.1 speeds! Swapped it for the Enermax cable and transfer rates were nice and snappy.

5 out of 5 eggs2.5" Hard Drive Portable Case

Pros: This case seems to work as advertised. My 250 gig Seagate has a nice tight fit and worked the first time out. The carrying case is especially nice. It is a leatherette material and provides a nice tight fit and some padding in case of a drop. The power /activity LED's are bright and fun to watch. The power is steady blue and the activity is a red one which mixes with blue and makes a purple flash when the drive is active. The aluminum case with plastic ends seems sturdy and has a good fit. With the rebate I got, this was a good buy and I recommend it over several others I have purchased in the past.

Cons: None really, except the rebate makes this an attractive offer. Without it?????? maybe.

Other Thoughts: I don't think you will be disappointed in this purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsOk enclosure

Pros: Smaller than Jazz. Works fine. Bought for Enermax name.

Cons: Has the same confusing issue as Jazz.
Why aluminum enclosure if you isolate the drive completely with plastic. Both Jazz and Brick do the same, isolate the drive from the cooling factor of aluminum.
Also the mini-usb is a fussy one and will not work ALL mini-usb.

Other Thoughts: The name Brick is a bit stupid.
Guess Enermax never heard the expression "bricked" electronic component. If your HD is a brick or has been bricked it is NOT a good thing ;-)
Also concerned about the rebate. Discovered recently Enermax is NOT rebate friendly.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Tight

Pros: When I saw this I knew I had to have it. It's aluminum! The price was high and there were no reviews, plus the circuit board in the image gallery looks like it's made of boiled cactus, but I bit the bullet and bought it anyway. Happily this is a superior product. The top and bottom panels are indeed aluminum, and the front grill, back panel, and internal structure seem to be a quality plastic. The top panel with the Enermax logo slides on and off in tongue-and-groove fashion, and fits very tightly and snuglike. Only one screw is needed to hold everything together. Also the PCB looks elemental in person.

Cons: The logo detracts from the aluminum, but you can put a sticker over it. The circuit board is stuck to the inside of the case with a mild adhesive, and it came off when I first took my drive out. If you're not going to swap drives, it's not even an issue. Even if you do, this is not really a con, because this case is SO small and compact. The enclosure has the smallest possible footprint and profile; a Scorpio fits inside with no wiggle room. If the board had been fastened, the design would have required leeway along the length of the enclosure to unplug the drive. This way, you can plug the drive into the board first and then slip them both into the case so that the mini-USB port fits through its back panel opening. One little screw holds the top cover, hard drive, and circuit board in place, yet I can literally shake this thing and not hear or feel any movement.

Other Thoughts: The price is high, but it's hard to be too critical when this product so far surpasses all the ubiquitous pieces of junk on the market. The cable is sturdy, and the case fits tightly and provides some nice padding for transport. I would just leave the case on all the time, but it insulates my 7200 rpm a little too well. And SSDs, which wouldn't overheat, probably don't need the shock protection anyway. I bet you could put an SSD in one of these and drop it off the roof of a building and then play music off of it.
