5 out of 5 eggsDecent power supply

This review is from: ENERMAX REVOLUTION X't ERX430AWT 430W ATX12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Semi-modular cables. 160mm length should fit most any case. Flat cables. Lots of SATA connectors. Wire grill and relatively quiet fan. 80 Plus Gold certification. Durable fan.

Cons: No passive cooling mode at lower power levels so the fan is always active. Non-modular PCI-e power connector. Only 80 Plus Gold, but you can't have everything.

Other Thoughts: I'll never understand the obsession with high power ratings, like the other reviewer who wants to put 650 watts on his daughter's eMachine. One of my last builds has an older 95-watt CPU, five hard drives, an SSD and five 120mm fans. A Rosewill power meter tells me the system consumes about 200 watts total when doing video encoding with the CPU cores completely maxed out. The power supply output would obviously be lower, since it can't output more power than it consumes, so a 650 watt rated PS is overkill. The only reason you would need more is if you have a high-end video card that needs another couple of hundred watts just for itself. 430 watts is more than enough for any non-gamer.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad little power supply

This review is from: ENERMAX REVOLUTION X't ERX430AWT 430W ATX12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Gold-rated efficiency is nice, semi-modular is nice, though fully modular would have been better, relatively quiet fan is also good.

Cons: The fact that this is really "semi-modular" is a bit of a disappointment. The photos here on Newegg were not clear enough to see this. I would have preferred to leave out the power cable that is intended to go to a video card. I put this into my daughter's eMachines PC in order to upgrade the stock power supply that came in it. Her single-slot video card does not have a socket for an auxiliary power cord and it does not need one. So I would have preferred to have been able to disconnect this cable from the power supply but can't. Oh well. It sits unused and disconnected inside her case, still attached to her new Enermax power supply.

Other Thoughts: My daughter bought an eMachines Model ET1831-07 Desktop PC [N82E16883114084] (without consulting Dad first, of course) and I was sad to discover that the manufacturer only gave her a stock 250 Watts power supply. Seriously? So of course I upgraded her P/S to this Enermax. I chose this one for Gold efficiency and for it being semi-modular. If I ever need to upgrade her P/S again, I'll probably step her up to a fully-modular Gold-rated Active PFC P/S that is at least 550-650 Watts or higher. Probably a SeaSonic Brand as I have been very pleased with a couple of those in full-server cases of a couple of "power user" builds. SeaSonic 860W Platinum SS-860XP2 [N82E16817151111] they were, but for my daughter's PC I would go with one of these - SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) [N82E16817151088] - a very nice P/S at a very reasonable price for the quality within.

3 out of 5 eggsNot that great

This review is from: ENERMAX REVOLUTION X't ERX430AWT 430W ATX12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Inexpensive with rebate, other reviewers seem to love it.

Cons: After careful inspection, I noticed that power cables emerging from PS were flatten, squeezed, quite badly. I am very concerned that they are so bad that it could expose bare wire with any continued use. Also, it was a difficult fit in my new Corsair case, elevated fan guard had to be removed, etc.

Other Thoughts: While I may keep this and double wrap the wires of concern, I really did not expect to need to do this. I am now ordering another power supply from EVGA that appears to have a double insulated type cable. Something that Enermax should consider if they are pinching cables during construction at their factory. Just my opinion, but I really hate the idea of any power supply issues....

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent if you can get at a reasonable price.

This review is from: ENERMAX REVOLUTION X't ERX430AWT 430W ATX12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I recently finished a HTPC build with this power supply, and I love it.
- super quiet
- little features like HeatGuard are cool add-ons
- very nice construction from what I can tell on the outside
- nice ribbon cables, with plenty of length (not ideal for HTPC, but not terrible since they're flat)
- 80 Plus Gold

Cons: - MSRP is crazy on these units, I scored under $45, which made this thing a no brainer for what it is.
- not worth an egg, but my "CordGuard" didn't fit in the holes around the power socket; one was too small

Other Thoughts: To clarify a previous review, if I may. "...the modular plugs can very easily be put on backwards causing possible disaster"...that's pretty much impossible. They only fit into the power supply one way, and are clearly marked with arrows. Also not CPU and motherboard power are hardwired, but also the dual 6-pin PCI cable is also hardwired.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat but not fully modular

This review is from: ENERMAX REVOLUTION X't ERX430AWT 430W ATX12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: well packed and promptly shipped from newegg as usual.
solid build quality and gold certified. runs very quiet.
long enough cords to be usable even in big cases
flat cables are good for cable managment

Cons: the modular plugs can very easily be put on backwards causing possible disaster, double check to ensure theplugs are inserted correctly

Other Thoughts: this is a semi modular not a fully modular psu the main board power and 12 v for the cpu are permanently attached. not a huge deal but I thaught that modular meant modular not semi modular.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says

This review is from: ENERMAX REVOLUTION X't ERX430AWT 430W ATX12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The PSU itself came in a form fitting ribbed airbag protecting it nicely. It is quite hard to find modular or full modular in a name i trust at low watts and this fit the bill almost perfectly. This is for a test bench PC that sits on my desk completely exposed (it is not inside of an enclosed case). It is dead silent. The power cables that are NOT modular are the MB, GPU, and CPU. It comes with 2 modular SATA power cables. Each has 3 right angle and 1 straight plugs for a total of 8 SATA devices. It also comes with 1 modular Molex power cable with 4 molex connectors and what appears to be one 4 pin fan header power. There are also 2 nice looking Velcro loops to help with cable management and 1 vinyl PSU bag. If this holds up as well as my 1600W Enermax I'll be happy. This has become my new go to brand after years of using Corsair. Too many complaints of their build quality on lower wattage PSU's caused me to look elsewhere.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My only wish for change would be for this to come in Full Modular instead of partial.
