1 out of 5 eggsDid not work well for me

Pros: Easy setup

Cons: Windows 8.1 lists as problem install. Works with flash drives, but drops connection with usb 3.0 hard drives even after buying 5 volt power adapter

Other Thoughts: Okay if you need multiple flash drives. Does not work with even a single hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: small, high speed, works fine

Cons: light weight.. the twist in the cable keeps it from sitting flat

Other Thoughts: Has 5V DC input, but no charger. No manual, etc...but really just plugs in. Feed cord long enough (2'??) to allow me to run from back of desktop case on floor usb 3 port to sit next to monitor

5 out of 5 eggsWorked with USB 2.0 devices

Pros: Attaches to computer with detachable / replaceable USB 3.0 male A/ male A cable. You can use a shorter or longer one as needed. There is also a mini-coaxial 5V jack if you need to feed your devices power, though it doesn't come with an external power supply

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried it with actual USB 3 devices. My wife uses it as a mini-dock for her keyboard, mouse, and printer for her Lenovo Thinkpad 530. It seems to work fine with USB 2 or USB 3 host ports

2 out of 5 eggsBought two. One works, one doesn't.

Pros: Small, light, cheap, decent construction. I bought 2 on a Daily Deal here.

Cons: Running win7/64. One of the two hubs works perfectly. The other finds and loads the USB 3 drivers, but cannot find USB 2 drivers. As a result, USB 2 devices ARE NOT RECOGNIZED, although USB 3 devices are.

The Orico site does not have the drivers for the VIA VL812 chip in this thing, although it does have this lie right on the product page, as well as here on the Newegg site:

"It does not require any software, drivers, or complicated installation process."

That's a load of horse output.

You plug it in, it goes out trying to find drivers. Finds and installs USB 3 driver, fails to find USB 2 driver. Go to Device Manager, yellow exclamation point, try to find drivers from there, no go.

Other Thoughts: This should not be this complicated.

It's 2014. This is a stupid USB hub.

Plug the hub in, it gets the drivers, done.

So, so remarkably annoying.

Not worth returning, but I'll avoid ORICO products from now on. Who sells stuff requiring drivers and then doesn't have them on their site?

1 out of 5 eggsOrico H4013-U3-BK USB 3.0 USB HUB

Pros: Nice USB extention on paper and pictures.

My system configuration:

MB: ASrock 990FX Deluxe 3
CPU: AMD Dragon 6 core (Phenom II) 1090T
RAM: 8GB (4x2GB)
MSI GTX465 Golden Edition
Windows Vista x64 SP2 Home Premium

Cons: Does not work, in my experience, with Asus Blutooth 2.1 micro plug adapter--the computer simply does not recognize it when it's plugged into this Orico adapter. I went through two of these adapters and my external 2.5'' hard drive works (with extra power adapter--thank G_d I had one laying around) but it does not work with the Asus blutooth adapter. The Adapter is USB 2.0 and works on either USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports on my DIY computer. I verified that the USB adapter is operational but it refuses to work with my otherwise good and working Asus micro Blutooth 2.1 adapter---it simply does not recognize it at all. Blutooth stack is installed properly and the blutooth adapter works otherwise but not in/through this Orico USB adapter. This is a big let down. I can go on how power port should have been designed on the opposite side along with USB input but that's a whole other story.

Other Thoughts: Beside the above mentioned problem which really made me think I wasted my money I also HAD to use power adapter for this device. As you might have noticed from the reviews it did not come with an adapter NOR with any information as to the polarity OR voltate required OR the type of adapter plug end required in order to supply power to it. By the way, my external 2.5'' hard drive works fine off of standard USB 3.0 ports on my computer when plugged directly--it is a modern low power USB 3.0 enclosured 1TB WD Blue hard drive which doesn't take alot of power. The transfer would not work and come to a complete crawl if I did not use power adapter for this USB adapter. Once power was supplied the transfer was over 100MB/s sustained speed (from a RAID0 SSD). BE aware that you most likely WILL need a power adapter OR a power USB cable to supply extra juice to this adapter for external self-powered hard drive applications.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Works well with external hard drives and my usb 3.0 memory stick. Haven't used it with wireless mice or keyboards. 4 different hard drives used, all with usb 3.0 connections and all work without problem or the need for external power. Great overall

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Cheapest price, Small size, Additional power port, Works without additional power, WORKS. Looks pretty on my desk.

Cons: Too long or too short cable, hardly a con though. I wish the power port was on the same side as the usb input. But that would be asking for everything. Meh, not a con.

Other Thoughts: Get a 3.5mm DC power usb cable for 99 cents and any 5v usb charger laying around and you are good to go. If you look at all your usb device accessories you might just find that DC power cable too, I did. Hope it helps.

2 out of 5 eggsNo external power supply

Pros: Cheap, can be used for low power devices

Cons: Without a power supply, this hub is limited in supporting external hard drives that are USB powered.
