1 out of 5 eggsLasted a month

Pros: Price. Simplicity.

Cons: Lasted about a month. Worked great during that time. Now pressing the manual switch toggles the PC1/2 LED - but nothing else works. I've verified that the problem is the switch because I can manually move the USB cable to "direct connect" between the PCs, and it works fine. Save your money.

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't play nice with KVM

Pros: Did exactly what it was supposed to.

Cons: Did exactly what it was supposed to. However it killed the KVM switch that was also being used.

Other Thoughts: Yeah, I know. But it 's not my setup and you can only do so much.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible with Win7 (x64?)

Pros: Inexpensive. Works as advertised.

Cons: Uses three rubber feet. The third one on the back of the device is not close to the back edge, leaving it somewhat unstable depending on where you want to leave.

Other Thoughts: I didn't notice in the description that it didn't list Windows 7 as a supported OS. My bad. The box indicates it is supported by Vista, although the documentation doesn't. In any event, testing shows either port works fine with my XP computer, but my Win7 computer says it is an unsupported device. I don't know if it matters, but my OS is 64 bit.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it needs to

Pros: Cheap, does what it needs to effectively, it's small, and it doesn't require any external power supplies.

Yes - there is a delay when you switch between devices/computers - that's there on purpose so you don't burn out your USB controller(s) and in my mind having to wait a second to use my keyboard and mouse in place of the possibility of nuking my motherboards is a major plus.

Cons: Occasionally I have to disconnect the unit and reconnect it in order for my Mac mini to recognize any devices connected through it - I'm not sure if it is the switch or the mini, but I have to dock one egg simply because it's a nuisance that occurs about once or twice a day

Other Thoughts: Using this to switch a keyboard and mouse between a Windows desktop and a Mac mini - does what it needs to.

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

Pros: I needed this to share my all-in-one printer between my pc and a wl-520gu. The goal was to have the PC be the main scanner printer area and share the printer function between the rest of the PC's. It works great. No issues with the wl-520-gu detecting the printer with the switch installed. Simple to install and easy to use.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggscheap solution

Pros: Cheap and does the job. This is part of my "poor man's docking station" to switch my keyboard and mouse between desktop and laptop. It is used quite a bit.

Cons: The select button started sticking a little after a month or so. There have also been times that it didn't "transfer" the kbd/mouse to the desktop, but that could've been the computer and not the switch.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: I have two computers and use one of them as a back-up for internet use. Now I can share my All in One printer between both computers. It works without any software, just plug and play. It has circuit switching (soft switching) as opposed to mechanical switching. (See Other Thoughts)

Cons: Can't understand why waiting two seconds for it to switch between computers is a con.

Other Thoughts: The reason it takes two seconds for it to switch is that it is switched by a circuit (soft switch). This is to protect against short circuiting the usb ports and damaging the motherboard of both computers. When I read about this switching delay in the reviews as a con, for me it was a good thing and proceeded to get one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch

Pros: Small size, easily fit anywhere. Provide true USB 2.0 speed (480 Mbps) unlike some other switch advertised as a USB 2 but only get to about 12 Mbps (Full speed)
Window has no problem detect the switch
Can use manual switch or hot key

Cons: USB cable not included

Other Thoughts: The hot key didn't work for me since i already has a KVM switch - to enable 2 Pc's to share keyboard & monitor - that use the same hot key
