Other Thoughts: I have this paired with a seagate STBD2000101 2TB and I see a consistent 117mb read and writes using usb 3.0 on HD tune pro. It also keeps the HDD very cool and I could easily see someone using this for a 24/7 storage or back-up device without any thermal issues. If you have the cash to spend and are looking at this enclosure, don't hesitate to buy it because it will perform to your expectations.

Cons: The component which holds the fan(and is the opening to the enclosure, if you will.) does not close all the way at the top part.. Not really an issue because it still works, just a cosmetic issue.

Other Thoughts: Other than the issue with the fan part, it still works fine and I haven't had any issues. I've owned this for about 2 weeks now. I promise to update if anything goes wrong. Good luck dudes and dudettes.

Pros: I am using this with the 3TB Seagate drive and couldn't be happier.

Cons: The price should be lower, but you do get what you pay for here.

Pros: - Fan is quiet and moves a lot of air over both sides of drive.
- Drive slides in and out effortlessly, and you will be met with a user friendly "click" when a drive is in.
- USB 3.0.
- Adjustable fan speed, including an Auto speed setting which is good for me because I don't have the drive in a really accessible place.
- Screwless.
- Comes with eSata and USB 3.0 cables.

Cons: - Width, due to fan, but not a problem. Makes the enclosure a little on the clunky side. Power cord is way too short.
- If you route cables, or you want this someplace far from your power source, be warned. power cord length from socket plug to enclosure plug: 60 inches (5 feet).
- The internal light can be dimmed significantly, but not turned off.

Other Thoughts: This is a fantastic enclosure. The cons do not deter from a 5 egg rating. I will be getting a second.

Also, rebate came about 3 weeks after I submitted it.

Pros: Equipment at work is always loud, at home I like stealth when it comes to fans. Enclosure is setup with USB3.0 to a MacMini using 1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive. Read and Write rates using Black Magic is extremely fast(Read and Write well above 180MB/s. Well built for being plastic, just a good flow through design.

Cons: Docking 1 for the fan noise. It is low but its higher then my Linux desktop workstation, MacMini is totally stealth. It is the only noticeable sound in my computer room. No doubts it will keep it cool. If you are picky on fan noise like me, heads up. I do like it better then fanless enclosures though.

Other Thoughts: Based on design and the speed I am getting it is a excellent enclosure. I'll ignore the fan noise, the other benefits far outweigh it.

Pros: - Integrated fan is not very loud, even at the highest speed. Sounds like soft white noise.
- Both eSATA and USB 3.0 are very fast
- Power and activity LEDs are located at the top
- Feet can be installed at the bottom to make it very secure
- The power adapter cord is not too long and is easy to manage and connect, making it more portable than some of Icy Dock's earlier enclosures
- The blue light doesn't act like a spotlight in a dark room

Cons: The LEDs have a really bad range of viewing angles. They basically have to be looked at in the center.

The instructions on how to remove and attach the faceplate are, again, poorly documented. It would be nice if they had mentioned some details on how it actually behaves, because you would be likely to think the thing's broken the first time you try to use it.

Other Thoughts: It would have been nice if they put a sticker on the inside showing which way the SATA connectors are supposed to face. Have to use masking tape instead.

About removing and installing the faceplate:
- You don't have to hold the tabs on the side to remove it. Just press them until they pop, then pull the faceplate out somewhat strongly.
- Orient the face plate so the logo is not upside down, then begin to slide it into the enclosure. Press the two outermost sides very firmly until they snap into the enclosure.

Pros: Solid, well built, and I love the dual connectivity of eSATA -or- USB3 (backwards compatable with older USB2). Runs very cool due to the multi-speed large fan in the faceplate.

Comes with everything needed; USB3 cable, eSATA cable, and power adapter.

Has On/Off switch on rear of unit.

Small power adapter, not a huge inline like some come with.

Cons: Only a VERY small minor item, the power adapter. In a setting where you might be using say a power strip, this WILL cover another outlet.

Other Thoughts: There's a wee bit of difficulty in removing the fan/cover face plate.

Seems the lower section contains the electrical connectors which power the fan, and as such (when new) grip a bit extra making removal of the faceplate/fan to require a wee bit more effort than we'd expect.

Do NOT let that deter you from getting one of these. After all, we'd normally be rarely opening these for any reason, and a good snug connecting faceplate is a good thing. Just be aware it takes a little more effort to remove the faceplate.

Very well built, dual connectivity, so yes I'd buy another should the need to do so arise.

Pros: It works as it's supposed to. It's rugged, good looking and appears to be well made.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This has to be the best HDD enclosure on the planet. Pulled the drive out of my WD My Book that never worked right, put it in the Icy Dock, and now it's reliable.. AND COOL.

Pros: This is a very solid built enclosure. great looking + usb 3.0 and Esata (can't ask for anything better). fan runs quiet and it does keep the drive at a low temperature.. compare to my other external HDD WD Mybook. i cant give less than 5 stars to this nice product.
