5 out of 5 eggs3 for 3! xfx 650watt pro

Pros: I have used this model in 4 builds now (2 with the same unit) all of them have worked very well.
80+ bronze
5 year warranty
SEMI MODULAR! :) this is a very nice feature in my opinion
cords have nice insulation.
I used this in my first build with an a10 6700, xfxr9 270x black edition 1tb hdd, and 4 gigs of 1333 ram in a rosewill challenger case.
my second or revised build was with an fx 8320 gigabyte 990fx ud3 mobo, 1tb hdd, 250gb samsung evo ssd, 8 gigs 1600mhz ram cl9, 24x dvd rw drive by asus.
build for my brother: fx 6300, 7870ghz edition by xfx, 8gigs 1600mhz ram biostar ta 970, 1 tb hdd,
and the most demanding build was for one of my good friends: fx 8350, xfx r9 280, 1tb hdd, 1600mhz 8gigs of ram, gigabyte ultradurable mobo with 970 chipset.
all around VERY happy with this psu.
Looks nice :3

Cons: the cords that were non modular that come sleeved could have been an inch or so longer, but other than that i have no real cons. This is one of the more expensive 650watt psus but the way i see it, dont save too much money on the hardware that provides the power for all your components. you want your psu to last.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible product

Pros: They do provide a nice selection of wires.

Cons: Unit worked fine for about 3 weeks. Then one day the computer did not turn on. I swapped it out with a new power supply and the computer fired right up. So, the three-week-old unit failed! Customer service is severely slow and is a big inconvenience to the customer. See other thoughts about that.

Other Thoughts: Good luck on customer support. I emailed that "" that XFX keeps spouting to contact in reply to negative reviews. I get a reply that says I must create a ticket and that email address is not for technical problems?? O.K. I created a repair ticket and waited almost 2 days for a response that stated if I can test out my computer with another power supply to see if the power supply is bad. There is no phone number to call to speak to someone and at this rate, you could be out of a working computer for weeks! I will not buy another XFX power supply again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Josh,

We're sorry you had issues. I received your email and responsed the same day. Your unit appears faulty, hence why i directed you to so we could get you an account and an RMA #. i cant issue email RMA's simply because the risk it poses with miss-information or lack-there-of.

We apologize for this confusion.

Thank you

Pros: Great reviews, supposed to be reliable

Cons: Doesn't power on.... DOA. Sigh,I bought this because of the "reliability" factor from reviews. Disappointed by my choices.

4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU!

Pros: Great power supply with lots of room for expansion in the future with it's decently high wattage and wide variety of wires. Also features modular wires for added ease of use and tidiness inside the case. The price isn't too bad either, especially when you can get it on sale.

Cons: None really. It's a great power supply made by a reliable company and expect it to last awhile.

Other Thoughts: The reason for me taking off one egg from the rating is because after installing this in my brand new setup and playing a few resource intense games, my computer would randomly shut off. After a few brief moments of panic, I later realized the fan on the PSU wasn't spinning at all which was causing it to overheat, resulting in it shutting off. It turned out to be an easy fix. There was one wire sticking out too far inside the PSU which was preventing the fan from spinning, so I simply tucked it away and voila, no more random shutdowns.

2 out of 5 eggsNo sleep with the XFX!

Pros: Looks Good, provides very stable power output, and cable management is good. A very nice power supply with an unfortunate incompatibility.

Cons: If I put my system to sleep for more than a few hours, it will not wake up. The only way to finally wake it up is to turn off the power supply switch until the motherboard loses power and then switch the power supply back on. Since this is horribly inconvenient, I don't sleep anymore. Very disappointing setup. Also, the fan is the loudest in my system. This is not nearly as great an issue as the incompatible power supply.

Other Thoughts: Power Supply: XFX P1-650X-XXB9 650W
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Rev.4.0
CPU: AMD FX-8320
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws (2133) F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL
GPU: ASUS HD7870-DC2-2GD5-V2
SSD: SanDisk Ultra Plus 256GB

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Sleep mode issues are usually Video card or motherboard related issues.

Usually windows updates and bios fixes can resolve it. Please contact us at

4 out of 5 eggsXFX 650 watt

Pros: It's a great performer and good looking as well. Rugged, runs cool, and does the job.

Cons: Cables can always be more flexible but XFX did a good job here.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: The wires that are not modular are condensed in a nice insulated wrap which made it easy to orgnize them and the semi modular aspect was very easy to plug in and setup. I am a noob and bottlenecked my R9 270x with a A10 6700 processor so I would highly recommend a FX 6300 or better if doing that but I digress this psu is great quiet and works great.

Cons: The insualtion on the atx power supply cords made them rather thick which made cable management in the back tricky but still managed to close up the back panel behind the mobo.

Other Thoughts: ..... I need a better processor

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty product out of the box

Pros: It turns on

Cons: Right out of the box it was making a clicking sound as if the fan is hitting a wire inside. Now I have to ship back with my own money and am out of a computer for work for at least a week.

Other Thoughts: Customer service is lacking, it would be nice to be able to talk to a human being rather than a "Do Not Respond" email.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, We're sorry you are having issues with your PSU. Have you inspected it to see if the fan is actually rubbing on a wire or if debris fell in?

What do not respond email are you receiving and from where?

Please contact us at for furter assistance.

5 out of 5 eggsGood psu

Pros: Has plenty of wattage for upgrades and overclocking. Good build quality and it's 80+ bronze. Cables are long enough for a mid tower gaming build. Also it is modular; it isn't fully modular, but the cable on the psu are the ones you will need anyway.

Cons: At the time I bought it, it was about $80. Now it seems a bit pricy compared to other options.

5 out of 5 eggsLoving this PS

Pros: Looks great and functions great so far. Installing it was a breeze. The cables have this really nice mesh covering to protect them. It is fairly stiff (TWSS), so if you have a sharp bend, be careful. I loved the semi-modular functionality, in that you can add on extra cables that you need. That system worked great for me, and the cables were all long enough to reach all areas of my ATX mid-tower case. My desktop started up the first time with no problems and has been solid for a bout a week now. The price was right, and I am very pleased.

Cons: Cables are fairly stiff. This isn't really a con, but if you are needing them to bend sharply, it could be difficult or impossible. Just be aware.
