This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The unit and cables look nice.

Cons: So I've had 2 of these now, and am about to send back the second one.
Unit 1: Dead right out of the box. Would not even boot my PC, not even to BIOS. After switching back to my original PSU, my computer kept shutting off until I did a restore to a previous date. It wouldn't stay on long enough to do anything else. I'm still not sure why. I sent the unit back with RMA for a replacement. PC was working fine before installing this, and worked fine after the restore with the original unit.
Unit 2: PC was now booting up, but had 2 serious problems. Firstly, the GPU didn't seem to get any juice off its PCIE rails. I tried 2 of the 4 cords that came in the box, and 3 of the 4 PCIE rail plugs on the unit itself. The card would never run over 300MHz and power meters would not increase. No software was told to make this card bottleneck at 300, and AMD/MSI both indicated that it's set to run "at" full capacity. After switching back to my original PSU (again), my CPU started to fry itself for no apparent reason. It was running at 99c on the BIOS screen, and in the hundreds just on the desktop. I now suspect that this is exactly what happened last time, and why my PC kept shutting itself off. I had to let my PC cool, then do another restore quickly, praying my CPU didn't melt first. Fortunately, it seems to have survived and my computer is once again back to a normal state with my original PSU. I'm not happy that their defective units endangered my other hardware. This is a 3770k CPU they put at risk, which still costs a good amount of money.

All in all, both of these units have been a disaster and caused me a great deal of stress and frustration. I've boxed this one back up and am going to tell them to just refund me this time. There won't be a third unit. I'll be going with a different brand. Maybe I should have just stuck with XCLIO, the brand I'm currently on. Over 4y of daily use and it's still going strong. I just wanted to upgrade power and switch to full modular.

Other Thoughts: Never buying a XFX PSU again. If anyone else knows something I might be missing, by all means. I'm Drain on Steam. Will probably be looking at XCLIO for upgrading now.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, 2 dead PSU's is unlikely. Its probably a setup issue. Please contact us for support at 800 880 3225.

This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: Product died after a few hours of use. Contacted XFX and waiting on a response. Very disappointed, I bought this PSU because it's a Seasonic but it seems like XFX has quality control issues judging by the other reviews...

This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Quiet
-Aesthetically pleasing
-12v rails witch means my 390x power hungry card is fine on just one pcie cord running to the psu.
-Good luck finding a cheaper power supply that's in tier 1 and has a good amount of wattage. (Seriously how do they do it?)

Cons: -Can't power my Flux capacitor on my DeLorean.

Thank you for the great review! We are happy you are pleased.

5 out of 5 eggsXFX BEFX 850W 1 year+ Update

This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Well its been almost 2 years since I installed this PSU into my system, I have not had any issues what-so-ever with this PSU.

This unit has sustained 4 power surges (protected by a Monster Power Center) and is not only surviving but kicking *** like it was never an issue.

After almost 2 years of gaming abuse this PSU is still registering the following.

12v Rail = 12.055
5v Rail = 5.017

All of these together still make this PSU near Platinum efficiency ratings!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: One of the best PSU's I have ever owned thus far, I also have not heard any coil wine but that could also be because I am running 6 old Thermaltake 97.6CFM 120mm fans that each make 36 decibels of noise.

*NOTE TO XFX, KEEP MAKING/RE-BRANDING QUALITY PSU's LIKE THIS!

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We are happy you are pleased. Note Taken, we intend to!

4 out of 5 eggsNice PSU

This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Lots of Power
Modular

Cons: The modular aspect can be a little frustrating. Instead of having short cables all clearly labeled that you plug extensions into, you plug all the cables directly into the PSU.

While there is some labeling on the PSU, it's not really direct and it took me a little bit to figure out what goes where.

Another issue is the SATA power connectors. They are pretty much a mess. I have some bottom case mounted SATA drives and due to how the cables are set up, it was impossible to plug them in. I had to move them somewhere else so there was room for the cables to be plugged in.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad PSU, modular and the fan is pretty quite. Would have been a bonus if there was lights on it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Jeremy and thank you for the review.

We're sorry it doesn't come with lights, but if you prefer to customize your case, there are plenty of 3rd part led lights that would quickly adapt to the sata and molex cables as needed.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong!

This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Fully Modular, Silent operation off load, reliable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've enjoyed this unit for some time now. It's very efficient and I love the "hybrid" fan control. This unit has powered an AMD FX-9590 and R9 290x for some time now with out complaint. Another reliable XFX product and satisfied purchase.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review, we appreciate your positive feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsGenerally a great PSU

This review is from: XFX P1-850B-BEFX 850W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: What drew me to this PSU was its looks and its rating. The looks didn't matter too much while I knew my power goes out quite often so the gold rating was looking pretty good! It just went through its first power outtage and my PC woke up without a scratch!

Cons: None so far

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,
