If you're going to swim with the sharks it's best to have one on your side. That shark is the Shark SP-585 PSU from Sigma. This 585W unit has dual +12V (20A and 18A) rails for stable, efficient power distribution. It comes with a full set of connectors including dual 6-pin PCIe, 4 SATA and 8 Molex so you can load your system however you want to.

Heat dissipation is a major concern and Sigma has it handled. The aluminum chassis has ribbed sides for extra surface area to aid in heat dissipation. Two 80mm fans pull air through the honeycomb mesh keeping the unit cool and running at maximum efficiency. Perhaps the most innovative part of the design is the Shark Fins at the bottom of the PSU that pull heat away from the internal components. With the PSU running cool you can enter that hot and heavy firefight without worrying about your equipment.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Bang For Buck

Pros: Looks nice, 2 fans for extra cooling, PLENTY of connectors, 2PCI-E, 8 peripheral, 4 HDD, runs quietly

Cons: Too many wires coming out of it, a bit bulky

Other Thoughts: A great PSU for the price. Interesting cooling design and very good for someone who wants to add more stuff to their computer. The plethora of peripheral rails more than allows for expansion.

3 out of 5 eggsLOUD

Pros: Powers the computer like it's supposed to

Cons: Sounds like a jet engine with afterburners on

Other Thoughts: I had to get this to replace my deceased HTPC power supply. I guess an always-on machine takes its toll on power supplies. Well, this one does what it's supposed to, and has two independent PCIeX16 connectors to feed my GTX 260 as opposed to having to use a splitter (which is nice), but the thing is way too loud for an HTPC. Definitely noticeable when watching TV or movies, or in video games when you're trying to listen for threats in your surroundings.

On the plus side, if all that noise translates into improved coolability then maybe it'll last longer than my last one.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Warranty 30 day through Newegg

Pros: Cool looking

Cons: I was looking at buying this and the website links are non existent. I finally found a webpage that worked and looked up the warranty. The site says that seller (Newegg) is responsible for the warranty and that they do not process rma's. Maybe this is in error the warranty link is
http://www.sigmaproduct.com/info/sigmawarranty.pdf

Quote "Should the Consumers have a RMA issue, please contact the stores at which they purchased the products from"

Other Thoughts: I ended up buying sunbeam 680watt

5 out of 5 eggsNeeded PSU

Pros: It works, I got this PSU to set up a BACK UP gaming PC with an 8800GTX, so I need two 6pin connectors. So it provides enough power to the GPU. All other cables, just extras. Since I am only running one hard drive.

Cons: LED on PSU caused my to get a windowed case, just too nice to put in a non-windowed case.

Other Thoughts: Does what is designed to do.

5 out of 5 eggsOoops!

Pros: Great looking PSU and very powerful. I installed the first one sent and it would not power on. Get a RMA and the second one did the same. Found that my motherboard was grounding out and the PSU picked that up and would not start. Fixed the grounding issue and it has worked like a dream.

Cons: Some paperwork or at least something on their web site would be nice.

1 out of 5 eggslet the smoke out

Pros: cheap. pretty case. all conectors I need including 8pin eps and 4 sata.

Cons: cheap. blue lights. I hate useless lights. Poor flow through honey comb. some cooling air flows back into the case. not modular. did I mention it nearly went on fire?

Other Thoughts: I'm writing this from an iPhone because my pc ran stable for only a couple hours before the psu started sqealing and then the psu let out a puff of smoke with a big flash and the sound of electrical arcing as my screen flashed and then everything went dark.

2 out of 5 eggsit's okay

Pros: Works. looks pretty. has a pretty blue light.

Cons: efficiency is upto 80% as you can see in the specifications. That's about right because when my machine was under high load, the whole system simply shut off. UPTO is the key, if you have anything that's close to a high end or performance system, look else where.

Other Thoughts: hasn't shut off again one it again since that time but i dont trust this PSU under max load and it's nowhere near 80% efficient and i have all old school parts on my computer. look elsewhere unless you are looking for a reliable psu on a basic system

5 out of 5 eggsWELL WORTH IT

Pros: Design is nice, looked good through my side panel window, quiet and cool my case temp dropped about 3 degrees this after replacing a thermaltake which boasted optimum airflow for case, not knocking on thermaltake just stating the facts. Another thing I found interesting was that on my old power supply I would get a popping static sound every time I powered on my pc. All that gone after installing this bad boy. DID I MENTION PRICE! On sale with free shipping awesome NEWEGG ROCKS!

Cons: NONE AS OF YET.

Other Thoughts: Sleeving a plus along with all black connectors and blue led fans nice touch. Compliments my blue led fans inside my case.
