If you're going to swim with the sharks it's best to have one on your side. This is the Shark SP-635 PSU from Sigma, and it can help you put the bite on your opponents. This 635W unit has dual 20A +12V rails for stable efficient power distribution. It comes with a full set of connectors including dual 6-pin PCIe, 4 SATA and 8 Molex so you can load your system however you want to.

Heat dissipation is a major concern and Sigma has it down cold. The aluminum chassis has ribbed sides for extra surface area to aid in heat dissipation. Two 80mm fans pull air through the honeycomb mesh keeping the unit cool and running at maximum efficiency. The Shark Fins at the bottom of the PSU that pull heat away from the internal components. With the PSU running cool you can enter that hot and heavy firefight without worrying about your equipment.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It ran nice and pretty quiet for 3 years in a mid-level gaming rig with a Phenom II x4 970 Deneb, aftermarket cpu heatsink and a 560 ti

Cons: A month after the 3 year warranty was up it started to produce a burning smell and sure enough theres melted silicon blobs here and there.

Other Thoughts: I was a little happy when I went to check on the warranty and saw it's marked as "Discontinued". Hopefully it will stay that way. More than likely the 2 12v rails were done in the fashion where they simply fake it to make the label read better with the standards that were out 3 years ago.

5 out of 5 eggsDev

Pros: Quiet and Cool.

Cons: Blue Leds. Even though they look cool, it would be great if it was possible to easily turn them off.

Other Thoughts: Sigma has a great RMA support. When I turned in the lower end model they ended up giving me this higher end model and never had problems with it since. It's going strong for a few years now. I wonder why they're not making any more products and their site is down, seemed like a great company!

5 out of 5 eggs4 yrs and beyond?

Pros: Lasted me 4 years now and never had issues. I noticed someone put "blue LEDs may annoy some people" as a feedback con for this PSU... WHAT!?!?

Cons: Nothing.

Other Thoughts: I got this PSU in the original PC I bought custom made from CyberpowerPC and it is probably the only thing left working from the original PC that I ordered 4 years ago besides my core2duo and HDD(I have done quite a lot of overclocking). I have ordered an ivy i7 with new mobo and memory that I am hoping to continue using this PSU with seeing a few other feedback from owners of this power supply have done the same.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 3 years

Pros: This power supply kicked the bucket after 3 years of use. For the last 2 years of its life it played tricks on me where it wouldn't power on the PC unless I reseated the cables that go in the motherboard.
Cr-ap product, the company Sigma (??) has a cra-ppy web site and just good luck getting your item serviced/replaced. I'm not even going to bother, I'm buying a new power supply from another manufacturer.

Cons: broke in 3 years.

5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

Pros: Worked well. Put up with a rig that is often on for weeks at a time. Also put up with being moved back and forth several times between the cool coast and the 105+ desert. Being always on without A/C in that intense heat didn't both it either. Always handled its own heat without heating up the case.

Came with a nice mesh around the cables, kept management easy.

Never ran out of connectors. That is always a good thing. I've upgraded over time to running multiple drives and disks and the default connectors provided were always enough.

Cons: Large & Heavy. Was still building the system when I first got power supply and it was in a barebones case which was a little too barebones for it. Horribly cheap case was a little too small and I always worried about it pulling the screws through the thin sheet metal. Once in a proper case of course it fit like it was meant to.

Blue LED may annoy some users.

Not Modular. (Didn't go in expecting it of course)

Other Thoughts: It was purchased in early 2009 and it is now the end of 2011. So two and a half years and the power supply is still working. Will look at the company's name

5 out of 5 eggsStill tickin'

Pros: Just here to say this PSU has more than done what I needed. Got it in 08/2008, still running strong, has never caused me an issue. Not too shabby for something I wasn't really sure I should get.

Cons: None from me.............

5 out of 5 eggsDelivers

Pros: Lets just say, I purchased this on 12/17/2008 and it is now 3/15/2011 and it is still going strong. Its deactivated now, but I am impressed.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: I am building a new system and moving this PSU to it. At least for a while. I may end up getting a new one just because I might need a few more watts.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed in two years.

Pros: It's cheap and effective for a while.

Cons: Has power issues, failed within two years.

Other Thoughts: For the downtime I face waiting on some kind of RMA, I would rather just buy a better power supply from a more known manufacturer.

1 out of 5 eggseeh, not so good

Pros: Looks good, decent price.

Cons: Kinda loud

Died after 6 months, and I am not drawing heavy loads against it or leaving it on 24/7

Other Thoughts: Probably just got a bum unit, unfortunatly its out of warranty so I'm probably out of luck unless someone from the manufacturer reads this and takes pity on me. ;)
