3 out of 5 eggsGood but service isn't perfect

Pros: I've raved about this PSU for a few years now. It's worked really well and held voltages well with decent overclocks.

Cons: The fan is dying after 3 years. I expect this is not uncommon (and not significant), but after contacting support they couldn't even direct me to a specific replacement. They just said NE would have one. I don't know the thickness or if its hard wired in? I'd have loved if they would have been a little more helpful.

Other Thoughts: A great PSU, and it has been treating me well, but I don't know if I'd get a silverstone again.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, could be better

Pros: Fully modular, clean power. Came with Tie-TIEs and some velcro thingys for cable management.

Cons: This power supply is in dire need of soft-wound cabled for the PCI-E.. The rigidness forces user to bend the heck out of the cables just to but the door back on the case. This being said, there is a high probability that video cards or the cable itself could be damaged.

Other Thoughts: Cords to long for most users. How about adding a few short molex cables? I have to 2' long cords that I don't need other than system fans..

5 out of 5 eggs850watt affordable, fully modular

Pros: Reasonable price for the wattage and fully modular. There was plenty of times while making it look pretty in my case I had to disconnect reconnect & it saved time and space in the end. The fan has been very quite for me even under load. Most of the cables are very long if not longer than most would need* I had my previous power supply die on me at the worst time as for money was limited, I was concerned and nervous. This works well & still looks nice. The cables are a bit stiff but you can bend them carefully to accommodate inside your case.

Cons: The 24pin motherboard connector was almost too short for my case, I had to settle with having the psu fanside facing up' instead of oriented down with my filtered case vent. My case a mid tower Lian li.

Other Thoughts: All in all this is a great deal for what you get.

1 out of 5 eggsDecent while it lasted

Pros: - Pretty good wattage per buck ratio
- Fully modular
- Fairly quiet operation

Cons: - Barely lasted 6 months
- 80+ Silver certification means nothing apparently

Other Thoughts: I bought this PSU in June and had been using it in my rig for around 6 months. During the last 2 months of its life, it was ridiculously stubborn and wouldn't even turn on without me having to open up my rig, disconnect and reconnect the power plugs. The whole experience made me dread turning on my PC. During the last 2 weeks of its' life, it would randomly shut off on me mid game/homework you name the task, and it would shut off while I was doing it. Very frustrating and I overall a terrible experience. I would not buy another power supply from Silverstone while I still draw breath. Do yourself a favor and get the Corsair RM750 or 1000 instead.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: I needed a 750w but it was $135 and the 850 was on sale for $125.
It dues the job.

Cons: Nune so far

Other Thoughts: I got this psu so I could get the short cable kit, and it works like a charm.

5 out of 5 eggsSILVERSTONE ST85F-P 850W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, high power supply, fully modular, fits a micro atx case (Silverstone sugo sg09)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Replaced my 600w Silverstone power supply with this one, since I was upgrading to 770 sli, I needed more juice. I chose this one since I had Silverstone's short cable kit installed, all I had to do was swap power supplies and didn't touch my cabling.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Power Supplye

Pros: First one lasted around 2.5 years, had it replaced under warranty due to capacitor aging. I was running dual quad-core Opteron 8347s with dual 8800GTs in SLI at the time. The second one lasted over 4 years and has been faithfully powering my computer w/o any issues.

Cons: None, I paid $269.99 for this PSU back in late 2007 would do so again.

Other Thoughts: The reason I am posting this review as I am going to be buying another of these as this morning there was a loud bang in my bedroom, so loud my ears were ringing.

I then realized with apprehension that there was an acrid burning smell coming from the vicinity of my desk.

I stumbled out of bed and walked over and my computer (which I left on), was now off, and was the source of the smell. I checked the surge protector and sure enough the protect light was red.

So, after inspecting the motherboard and GPU for several minutes, I notice the status light on the PSU is still on. After a few minutes of consideration, I tried turning the machine on and to my delight and utter surprise the machine booted, and all of my components are good.

All in all I think my faithful old Silverstone Strider 850w PSU saved my rig from a power surge. Trust me I'll be replacing it with another Silverstone PSU.

1 out of 5 eggsIt died

Pros: Modular which is always nice

Cons: None besides it dying after 7 months

Other Thoughts: Really disappointed that this happened. I purchased this power supply for a gaming computer that i built in early December. Nothing big, two gtx 460s, 16 gb of ram, i7-3820 processor, and single monitor so i don't think i burned it out. Hoping that i am just the unlucky 1 of 1000 to get the bad egg.

1 out of 5 eggsPower Supply was DOA

Pros: None

Cons: Arrived DOA and cost be 4 hours of build time.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY. Just buy the corsair HX850 and spend the extra 30 bucks or so. Its not worth buying a DOA power supply

1 out of 5 eggsAre you serious?

Pros: You can buy sleeved cables for it, thats it.

Cons: I ran a Silverstone Decathlon 850w power supply before i installed the Strider plus 850w, originally the Decathlon 850w started make a buzz noise even when running low end games like Call of duty 4, it wasnt that loud but annoying but i guess after three years of use its fine since it isnt as loud as this new Strider 850w.

Once i installed the Strider 850w in place of the Decathlon 850w the buzz noise got way louder. It is unacceptable for this brand new Strider 850w to be making buzz noises in such low end applications.

This is my third Silverstone supply that makes a buzzing noise. I read that it could be the fan but it only happens when under moderate load so its not the fan.

I called Silverstone about my Decathlon 850w's buzz issue and they said i would have to pay shipping both ways. I'm going to see what they say now about this Strider 850w's buzz issue, they better not expect me to pay shipping for their products own issues. This will most certainly be my last Silverstone Power Supply ever, its a shame as i own a Silverstone TJ09 case which is wonderful but Silverstones power supplys are just trash it seems.

I expect them to offer me something more then just free shipping on a standard rma as i have all the sleeve cables to go with this power supply.

Other Thoughts: Done with Silverstone power supplys, i guess i will have to go with another power supply brand that doesnt make buzz noises. Any power supply that makes this much noise is worthless.
