To meet the ever higher requirements imbued by professional users and enthusiasts alike, SilverStone created the Strider Gold series power supplies. The Strider Gold models are built on similar platform as the award-winning Strider Plus series but with even higher efficiency ratings. The Strider Gold series will encompass wattage range from 750W to 1200W for a great variety of applications. In addition to 80 PLUS Gold level efficiency, all models are built to meet very high standards in electrical performance so they have ±3% voltage regulation, ±3% ripple & noise, and high amperage single +12V rail. Other notable features also included are 24/7 continuous output capability, Japanese capacitors, low-noise 135mm fan, and multiple sets of PCI-E cables. For those looking for a power supply with faultless combination of performance, efficiency, and quality, there is no need to look beyond the Strider Gold Series.

  • newegg 80 PLUS Gold Certified The 80 PLUS Gold certified power supply provides high power efficiency of at least 87% at any load between 20% and 100%, saving your money on your electrical bill, reducing heat in your computer's system and prolonging its life.
  • newegg ATX12V and EPS12V Compatible & Dual EPS 8Pin Connectors Compliance with the Intel ATX12V v2.3 and EPS12V standards, the SilverStone Strider Gold ST1200-G provides maximum power stability to drive the processors as well as other components for desktop and server computer systems. Dual EPS 8pin connectors are included for use with dual-CPU server and workstation motherboards.
  • newegg 1200W Continuous Power with Single Strong +12V Rail The SilverStone Strider Gold ST1200-G delivers 1200W (1300W peak power) 24-hour continuous power output under 40-degree operating temperature. Powerful single +12V rail at up to 100A design ensures the maximum provision of 12V power to energy-hungry CPU and graphics cards perfect for future high-end component upgrades or overclocking.
  • newegg 100% Modular Cable Design Modular cable design allows use of only the cables you need resulting in improved internal airflow and reduced system clutter. The Strider Gold ST1200-G’s 100% modular cable design allows for use with a short cable kit such as SilverStone’s PP05.
  • newegg Silent Fan Built-in 135mm fan has excellent airflow for heat dissipation and guarantees silent operation.
  • newegg Multi-GPU Supported Coming with 4x 8/6-Pin and 4x 6-Pin PCI-E connectors, the SilverStone Strider Gold ST1200-G allows you to build multi-way CrossFireX or SLI gaming systems. In addition, 2200uF capacitors are attached to PCI-E connectors to reduce electrical whine/buzz associated with high performance graphics card’s dynamic loading changes. This design also helps to maintain better voltage stability and improve ripple & noise performance.

4 out of 5 eggsmeh.

Pros: Fully Modular, high capacity.

Cons: Rails run towards the low end of the range. Don't even try to run more than one 6 pin connector to the same rail, with the included coords. Way too unstable if more than 1-1.

Other Thoughts: Glad I only have 1 GPU, I was planning on 2 and would have needed to replace this with a higher quality product. Even stable,t he 3.3 rails run at 3.28, and the 12v runs at 11.8. Within range, so I can't take off negs, but it kinda sucks.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing a SilverStone. Please keep in mind that software reading or even readings from voltmeter may not be accurate. The ST1200-G Evolution has a modern design that will work perfectly with any system that has two or three GPUs.

5 out of 5 eggsretraction of previous review

Pros: Runs great and does what it does well. It turns out that after testing my motherboard out the asroc fatality z68 was to blame for the issues.

Cons: Runs reat provides plenty of stable power

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: - Modular! I love the modular rail system and I will never go back. The joy of not having to try and hide entire rails worth of cables you don't need is amazing.
- Tons of power, more than most will need.
- Seems to be pretty quiet to me, although I have many fans so it's hard to tell.

Cons: - Some rails came very close to being too small for my case (800D), such as the CPU power and motherboard main. It was close but not so bad that I have to replace obviously.
- No power switch. Not a huge, but a bit of convenience gone.
- Screw holes for installation were pretty bland and didn't stand out, minor quibble.

Other Thoughts: Pretty pricey for my taste, but for the high end modular system and crazy power, it's what I expected. I regret nothing and I'd buy another if I had to.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

Pros: Lots of power on a single 12v rail. Fully modular. Quiet, efficient. Not much bigger than the 630w unit this replaced, though MUCH heavier. It feels like quality through it's weight alone.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Works great so far and seems a solid unit. 3 year warranty is nice.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: High quality components. Delivers a huge amount of stable power. Gold certification. And the modular cable system is fantastic.

ATX 24 pin, plus 2x 8-pin EPS 12 V cable (which supports my dual processor board), 2x legacy Molex cables with 4 ports each (which is good because that is what my RAID backplane supports), 2x SATA power cables with 4 ports each, and 4x 6-pin cables for video cards and what-not. And with the modular design, just disconnect the cables you don't need at the Power Supply. Which makes for very easy cable routing and a clean case

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Module system helps keep cable clutter down
comes with a wide array of adapters and alternate cables.
fan runs silent at mid to high RPM

Cons: Fan makes clicking noises at low RPM
Cables are not very flexible as compared to other PSU's making cable routing bothersome.
included documentation did not match the product.

Other Thoughts: After checking around I've found that the fan noise issue seams to be common with this series. I was going to do an RMA but a few other acquaintances I've checked with say the same issue has come up after replacing units. It's still a solid PSU, it just has noise issues at low fan speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful PSU

Pros: -100% Modular, as listed.
-Will handle extreme loads with ease.
-Very quiet.
-Comes with a large number of cables and types.
-Will fit in most cases, though it is a tiny bit longer than most PSU's.

Cons: -None so far.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good power supply, Cables are thick

Pros: Great power supply, 1200W and efficient.
Modular design reduces clutter and helps improve airflow.

Cons: Included modular cables can be a little long for small cases. (Silverstone sells the optional PP05 short calbe set, but these were too short for me)

The modular cables are very fat and rigid. This made it difficult to properly route the 4 needed cables for 2 dual 8pin video cards. The cables could be more flexible and thinner, if possible.

Other Thoughts: I bought this power supply so I don't have to worry about power anymore. 1200W ought to be enough for anyone, right?

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Comes with lots of cables since it's modular you only plug in the ones you need to the PSU. More than sufficient for an i7 2600k processor and a GTX 580 video card.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Plenty of room for upgrades.
