5 out of 5 eggsWorks after some fiddling around

Pros: 1. Cheap
2. Easy to attach
3. Magnetic button to switch instead of software

Cons: Windows 7 PC had a Max resolution of 1600x1200 when first attached.
Resets the color on my back-lit Zippy Keyboard each time I switch, since it is momentarily disconnected from power during the switch over. I can live with this, just something to think about. I decided not to deduct an egg for the resolution problem, since it seems to be related to Windows 7 and not the switch itself.

Other Thoughts: I wanted a switch to allow me to use my main KB, mouse and monitor with a)My Win 7 64-bit PC and an older 32-bit system (to play old games on) and b)My Win 7 PC and the occasional PC of family/friends that ask me to repair or upgrade them. This switch is perfect, I only needed to add a VGA to DVI adapter to attach it to my ATI Radeon HD 5700 card (only DVI ports.) The button attaches to the metal side on my tower case in a handy position. When switched to the Windows 7 PC, the max resolution available was 1600x1200. I am used to 1920x1080 (Which the old Windows XP gets, no problem.) I removed pin 12 from the VGA cable, as this carries the EDID info about the monitor. After this, I was able to change a setting in the AMD Vision Engine control center. Under "My VGA Displays - Properties" there is a box to uncheck under "Monitor Attributes" labelled "Use EDID" Once that is done, the full list of resolutions became available. Set at 1920x1080 and all is good.

4 out of 5 eggsQuite good for the price

Pros: * Cheap!
* Rugged construction
* No-brainer setup, no software needed
* One-button switch operation is dead simple and very reliable

Cons: * Dual USB inputs make no sense. Why not just bridge them into a single input as if a USB hub and make it appear idle to the inactive PC? I just use one and it works fine, taped the other back to minimize cable clutter on my desk.

* Colors are a bit pasty and sharpness sometimes suffers when converting from DisplayPort to VGA routed through this device, but it's anyone's guess which step in the chain is responsible. Switching back and forth usually fixes any fuzziness.

* Occasionally "forgets" my keyboard on the laptop, but this may be due to my single-input cabling setup. Again, switching back and forth fixes it so it's only a minor annoyance.

Other Thoughts: Using this to bridge the same Dell LCD display to a Linux PC's as primary and a Macbook Pro as a secondary display.

3 out of 5 eggsFor less than $20 bucks - Yea

Pros: Initially is worked as advertisied - installition was simple and easy - when it works - it works great!

Cons: Personally I'm going from a multi port USB hub to the switch - doesn't seen to wake up the cordless recharable mouse and keyboard in some cases

Other Thoughts: Maybe its just my experience - but the switch seems to "Play" better with Windows XP and not so good with Wondows 7

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless installation

Pros: Installation was successful and the unit worked first time and thus far every time. Delighted.

Cons: Darned wires required manual intervention to install. No amount of verbal coaxing would get them to route and install themselves. Quite unhappy about this actually.

5 out of 5 eggsWorkingOk

Pros: Unit works fine. Switches from one machine to the other with ease. Easy solution for crowded desk.

Cons: When using one machine and the second machine is a sleep it would not wake the second machine at this state when switching. Need to wake machine from power up.

Other Thoughts: Using it to switch keyboard and mouse only no video.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Except other external USB devices don't work...

Pros: It works almost as advertised. I have had good luck in the past with encore updates on a wireless card so I am assuming they will fix any issues in the future.

Cons: I wasn't able to use a memory stick or any external hard drive after this (the USB) was plugged in on either computer. After I unplugged it (I left the VGA in) the USB drives worked fine. If they fix this I will give it 4 eggs because I love it apart from that. Sometimes the keyboard takes 2 try's to switch over but it is rare.

Other Thoughts: My Logitech headset still works fine through USB so it seems to only be external memory sticks and hard drives. Overall I am happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Super easy installation. Worked out of the box. The switch has a nice long cord.

Cons: Doesn't fetch when I throw the ball.

Other Thoughts: I gave it four stars bc I've only had it for a month, so no long-term experience. This is my first KVM switch. I have it between two win xp32 computers. Works beautifully. No hang ups.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device, Great Price

Pros: It has a separate switch with a convenient little magnet, so there's none of that Scroll Lock key to switch machines.

Cons: I wish it also switched the speakers.
