1 out of 5 eggssiig sucks

Pros: Yeah...it worked for about an hour or two at full speed without unplugging the usb3 cable. after that it would lose the power and connection to the devices plugged in. I was just unplugging this thing and plugging it back in as needed.
just wait for this !!! 1 year later after dealing with "unplugs" my win7 just died. I did a fresh install (got a dvd that I bought) everything was working just fine after that (still plugging and unplugging of course :-D ) 2 years after that I was kinda dealing with load times for win7.
My rig - phantom nzxt, 1000w kingwin, Phenom II x4 965, 16gb gskill, 2x500gb samsung HDDs, asus 5830 1gb video card.
I guess I am kinda slow on response to what is going on with my PC but this time 04/24/2015 - it started to drive me nuts ! I couldn't get to desktop at all !! always protected - kasper+malwarebytes. always secure with web searches. no viruses whatsoever on this computer.
Sooooo... I reinstalled the win7 6 times with full format on disks and having extreeme slow boot times !!! did a bunch of research just about anything - wd utility's.. did the "writing zeros" etc....
Then I came across one thing on the blog - "disconnect all your usb devices" - I came to realyze that the SIIG hub is still connected to my infrastructure ! There was nothing connected to it though !! So I unplugged the Hub and guess what ? It worked like magic - boot times are fast, shutdown time is even faster ! fresh installl now works just fine...
anyone has a "burn pile" ? That hub will go right in there.
I can't believe the time I have wasted to figure this out.

Cons: It is absolute junk. slow time bomb.

1 out of 5 eggsHad 2 break. These are junk...

Pros: Has a lot of USB ports and it's compact.

Cons: I've had my second one of these break... they're total junk. First one came broken out of the box. This second one I've got now just died 2 months after buying it.

Other Thoughts: :/

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does what I need it to... gives me a bunch of USB ports!

Cons: First one came with a busted USB port on the 2.0 side, got it replaced for another that's working great.

Other Thoughts: Power Adapter isn't required but seems to help with speed especially if you hang power hungry stuff like external HDDs off it (Which I have two, a 3.5in and 2.5in).

5 out of 5 eggsFunctional USB Toy

Pros: nice form factor, not to light with a firm footing on the desk, yet not heavy either. Provides a mix of USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. Self powered. LED on top indicates power status. Over load protected.

Cons: The total bandwidth (5Gbps) is shared among the ports, it's a hub after all and not a switch. But this isn't really a con, just the way a hub is supposed to work. There are just 3 USB 3.0 ports rather than 4.

Other Thoughts: I suspect that one of the (normally available) 4 ports typical of these kind of chip sets is dedicated to supporting the 4 USB 2.0 ports. That's good because inserting a 2.0 device will not change the max speed of the USB 3.0 ports. I've owned this hub for just about a year now and it's performed flawlessly. No problems whatsoever.

1 out of 5 eggsabsolute GARBAGE

Pros: Solidity of enclosure

Cons: DOESN'T WORK. I've had two of these units. On the first, 2/3 of the ports didn't work. Now the second has totally failed after a couple of weeks; NO ports work.

Other Thoughts: Avoid this product. I already wasted a third of its price sending the first one back, and a second one is also defective.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsdoesnt work. :(

Pros: its heavy so its a great paperweight

Cons: doesn't work on my windows 7. Plugged it up to a USB 3.0 port on my computer and it did some installing and such on windows. Then said usb 2.0 hub driver could not be found. Rescan hardware produced the same results each time.

Other Thoughts: Since there are no drivers on the manufacturers site or ways to get to their tech support (I assume they dont have any) my only option is to return this to newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsnot enough power

Pros: Powered.
More ports than typical USB hubs.

Cons: Pricey.
Doesn't charge the iPad 2.

Other Thoughts: I have the power cable plugged in, and the hub is plugged into a USB3 port that *does* charge the iPad 2. But plugging the iPad into any port yields a "Not Charging" message.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: The form factor is good. The flat top allows me to put a 2nd hub on top. Heavy enough that it stays put on my desk. Plug and play on Linux.

Cons: The Power supply is not big enough to supply max power to all ports.

Other Thoughts: I own a lot of different flakey USB hubs, this is not one of them.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: - Works right out of the box
- Very sturdy (I really liked the metal plate on the top and the color)
- Doesn't slide all over my desk
- Just by holding this you can feel its quality

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I will update this with more use. I am currently using this product to power up 4 usb fans that are connected to a cooling pad for my laptop and for data storage.
On the box it states that usb 3.0 compatible devices has transfer rates up to 5.0gb/s - I need to test this out for my self!
