5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Easily installed.

Cons: Keys are lost easily.

Other Thoughts: Where do I find replacement keys for this thing. I have looked all over the internet and have had no success. I would appreciate some new keys so that i can access my system.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: 3 drives in 2 bay
Individual buttons to power on/off each drives

Cons: The fan is noisy, I despise fans, there's too many deaf people in IT, otherwise we would not have fans on anything.
A bit costly, 60$ would be a better price.

Other Thoughts: I've completly removed the fan. I don't need it, fact is, my drives don't get hot enough. So except if you have hot drives, you will be fine without the fan. Monitor your drives temp if you're unsure. If you remove the fan, you'll also have to remove the speaker, otherwise it's going to beep constantly. Removing the speaker is permanent, you have to destroy it, which is easy and doesn't require to apply much force to do.

I'm going to order a second one.

You can get extra trays here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817999008&cm_re=2131SSBK-_-17-999-008-_-Product
They are a bit costly, but can be useful. Be careful with the handle, it's not fragile, but the way it open it's easy to understand that applying enough force will break it.

1 out of 5 eggsseagate harddrives aren't compatible

Pros: couldn't use the device, so i cannot list any pro

Cons: we tried to mount normal seagate SATA harddrives in but they wouldn't fit into the SATA connectors in the back of the case. Tried 3 different ST31000528AS.

Other Thoughts: Went instead with ' SUPERMICRO CSE-M35T-1B Black 5 Bay Hot-Swapable SATA HDD Enclosure' which has worked for us many time sin the past.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hot Swap cage

Pros: Cage is of a higher standard than Lian Li products and it's apparently American made!

Cons: The fan is a little noisy even on low but ONLY when any of the slots are turned on; when you turn off all the drive bays, the fan turns off; awesome!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Reasonable cost.
- Simple mount. Slides right into Cooler Master Centurion rails without modification.
- Smooth slide action for exchanging drives.

Cons: - The fan howls badly, even on the low speed setting. I replaced the fans in my units with quieter versions mounted rear of the enclosure. But, if you don't adapt to the PCB's fan power source you'll have a perpetual "fan alarm" light on the front bezel.
-Ventilation holes in the backplane are smaller than needed. Much of the backplane is wasted space and needlessly restricts airflow
- Locking mechanism for individual drives is flimsy
- Cost of additional drive trays is excessive

Other Thoughts: Beware the 5-in-3 version of this product. The two I've tried both had the common problem where one drive will drop from a RAID under heavy activity. Replace the drive and rebuild only to find the problem is positional and not related to a particular drive. Not a great way to spend your weekend.

4 out of 5 eggsSWEET

Pros: Everything. Could be a little cheaper for what it is and I wish I knew about the other one the does 5 HDDs in 3 bays. I have a feeling I will be talking my self into trading up to that one soon. Works perfect right from the start. I really like the lock, lever, everything... great design!

Cons: It is a bit small.... It has a noticeable gap on three sides. this is the only reason I did not give it 5 eggs.

The extra/replacement drive trays are way over priced $30 each plus shipping.

It has green lights on front that are always on I prefer blue

5 out of 5 eggsthis thing is sweet

Pros: this thing rocks no probs what so ever. don't know why others have had probs must be the controller card or chipset of their mobo

Cons: i have noticed that swapping between modules that some are tight and some are nice and smooth as far as sliding the trays in

3 out of 5 eggs58dB

Pros: Everything works fine

Cons: It is the loudest component in my room including the window unit A/C. 58 dB's regaurdless of fan setting.

Other Thoughts: all connectors are SATA, no eSATA as newegg lists. Seems to be meant as a bay device rather than external

4 out of 5 eggsworks but is noisy

Pros: hot swap, power on/off buttons for each drive, led for active and online (orange/green). you can get spare drive trays for under 20 each.

Cons: you MUST use the fan (I tried it without and the drives started cooking). with the fan, drives run at 28-35C which is not too bad.

Other Thoughts: I have one of these 3-in-2 mounted in a microfly case for raid. it works. I have 2 of the 4-in-3 AMS units as an 8drive raid box (both running linux). they are all noisy but they are well made and they secure the sata cables nicely - better than cables actually seat into drives, themselves. this almost makes the whole idea worth using on the cable secure idea, alone.

1 out of 5 eggsDitto on the problems

Pros: High density SATA pullout configuration.

Cons: Not working, marginal cost makes it painful to pay for return on this item. 4 in 3 AMS worked with no problems on another system. Best to avoid the 3 in 2, with this high of an loss rate.

Other Thoughts: Memory core dumps and windows startup problems with more than one drive plugged in. Not using it for the boot drive. Drives work when not plugged in through the AMS device. Using it in single drive setup not raid.
