1 out of 5 eggsStay Away!!!

Pros: Price and form factor was the only pro I can say as it fit the bill at them time of my small itx build. That is where the positive quickly end.

Cons: When I first installed the unit I noticed a wining noise and I thought it was either my video card or cpu fan, but after switching out parts of my build I diagnosed it to the power supply. The noise is really bothersome, it makes me want to throw the computer against a wall.

The worst part about is that I contact the manufacturer since I was out of the 30 day return policy, they offered no help and stopped responding to my E-mails. The worst customer service ever I have experienced in a long time.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this brand, they will not take care of you if the power supply is having issues.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsLearned the hard way

Pros: Cheap, reliable if it works the first time.

Cons: Won't always boot after power failure.

I have had 7 out of 12 that have the same problem.

Other Thoughts: I've bought a total of 12 of these, 3 different orders of 4 over the last 2 years. The first 4 worked and are still working, I have had problems with the most recent 2 orders. The computers I use these in have no power switch accessible, so I rely on the motherboard to always turn back on after it loses power. 7 out of the 12 have the same symptom. I can, however, sometimes leave it plugged in for 30 seconds, then unplug and replug and it get it to boot. This may not be a deal breaker for some but is definitely a problem for me.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Purchased this for a friends HP PC since she ran one of these small PSUs that had died. It installed easily and works great. I've had in installed for over a year without issues.

Cons: None, it works great!

Pros: It works. Been running in my HTPC for 6 months with light use. It did refuse to start once, but unplugged and plugged back in and it worked fine .

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Pros: Perfect fit for my old micro atx e-machine T-4200. It takes a very small PSU (5" x 4" x 2.5") and many listed as 'micro atx' are too large. Much appreciate Athena Power's cross reference chart on their website, which lists every make/model that each of their PSUs will fit, as many manufacturers/sellers don't even include dimensions in their descriptions.

Easy to install, connections reach without any problems and nice to have 4 Molex instead of the usual 3 found on most inexpensive units. I am transferring data off of some old HD's and the easiest way to do that is to install them right in this machine which has my biggest HD so I can copy the data right onto it, making the 4th connector important to me for that.

Yes, I can hear the fan, but just barely (others mentioned it being very noisy), and it is actually quieter than my previous PSU.

It is difficult to find a PSU the size that I needed that is higher than 250w, so again I am thankful to Athena for making one that fits both my machine and my increased wattage needs.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I wonder how many of those experiencing DOA problems or complaining of this PSU dying shortly after installation actually have purchased one that is not powerful enough (high enough wattage) for their needs.

That's what happened to me after my on-board video chip died and I replaced it with an AGP graphics card. I failed to notice that the graphics card called for a minimum 250w PSU, and I burned out several 145w PSU's (which was all I needed for my previous configuration) shortly after installing them because I did not realize the wattage was not sufficient.

1 out of 5 eggsAnnoying

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: It makes a horribly annoying whining noise. It's not very loud, but it is loud enough to where you want to pull your hair out after listening to it for awhile. This is my second power supply!! Cost almost as much as a new one to get a replacement under the warranty. Ughhhh.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWin't fit Micro-ATX

Pros: Its really small.

Cons: This PSU is advertised as a micro-ATX but it's not. It's a micro-SFX. I don't know who's at fault here (Newegg or Athena) but the box only specifies SFX. So did Newegg drop the ball here or Athena?

Other Thoughts: I had to make my own SFX to ATX template from an old ATX PSU. What a waste of time. That will teach me to not read the reviews first.

The unit I received makes a slight buzzing sound even when turned off. I've never heard anything like this on any other PSU I've owned so I hope this isn't a sign it will die soon. Time will tell.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for entering a review. We, at ACPC, strive to manufacture quality products. Should you have any issues with our product, including your fitment issue, please contact our Customer Service at (626) 810-5008 or via email at service@athenapower.us. Thanks!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy

Pros: Sometimes some of them work. Cheap

Cons: Had to order quite alot of these as replacements since they were the only available PSU to match at the time. 1/5 of them showed up DOA. Another 1/5 of them died within a few weeks of use. These are terrible, cheap, poorly made, poorly tested. I would not recommend anyone purchase from Athena. Also, New Egg would not replace/refund, and Athena was impossible to get ahold of. There is a phone number no one answers, and an email address no one responds from. I tried for weeks to contact someone before giving up.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend investing a little more for something that has a higher chance to show up in working condition and stay working.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your review. Should a user encounter issues with their purchase of an ACPC PSU, it is best to contact us at 626-810-5008 or service@athenapower.us. At times, it can be a challenge when attempting to select the correct PSU for a specific system configuration. ACPC Customer Service can definitely assist in making the selection process simpler and easier for the user to understand. Thanks again!

5 out of 5 eggsI love it, actually.

Pros: SFX size for my HTPC. Nice and quiet. Everything about it seems very good! I think on a per dollar basis it may be one of the best things I've bought in recent memory.

I am pretty sure the majority of the people with the bad reviews have trouble with things known as "reading" or "choosing the correct wattage PSU".

Good selection of power connections. Way more, I think, than any reasonable rig with an SFX power supply could even come close to needing.

Cons: None so far. Seems to run well, works as advertised.

Actually, I don't know if anyone could possibly care about this, but the unit appears to have no on/off rocker switch. You plug it in, and it's energized. If you want to work on your motherboard or something, you have to unplug the PSU. No big deal.

Other Thoughts: I like it. If this thing lasts even 6 months I'll consider it a heck of a bargain for the money. Buy, buy, buy.

The rig I used this on: AMD A4-4000 HTPC setup, with mini-IFX motherboard, in a Silverstone case, with an SSD. (so, yeah, like, not even remotely approaching 100 watts even when running at full blast)
