1 out of 5 eggsArrived DOA

Pros: None - DOA

Cons: DOA, like quite a few it would seem from the other posts below..........

Other Thoughts: I purchased this PSU for an upgrade project on a Dell Dimension 2400. Cleeaned out the original PSU and put it back in service - very disappointing.

Manufacturer Response:

We at Athena Power apologize for the inconvenience and we would like it if you can contact us directly at either our e-mail at service@athenapower.us or call us at (626) 810-5008 and we will be happy to assist you in troubleshooting this issue. Sometimes we have issues with customers who believe the PSU is not working but that is not always be the case and can be other hardware issues. We at Athena Power would recommend all customers call our tech support department before making any returns. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsGood replacement for old HP

Pros: Same size as HP OEM psu. Fits in old, small HP case that doesn't have room for regular atx psu. Runs quietly. Enough (4) molex connectors.

Cons: Lead with 20/24 pin mobo power connector barely long enough. Unneeded connectors for P4, video, sata made a spaghetti mess of extra wires to be tied off. Had a bracket that had to be removed because it took up a precious 5/8" of space between back of psu and optical drive.

Other Thoughts: 300 watts is overkill for a pentium III system. Don't know if this will make a difference in the temperature inside the case, but the old psu had air intake slots on the opposite side from the new one. This put the intake slots directly over the cpu cooler so heat could be drawn directly off the cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsIt suited me, while it lasted.

Pros: After one year and 6 months, it died. However, the reason why I still gave it 5 eggs is because for three months, I was using a graphics card that needed a minimum requirement of 400Watts to run. But not only that, later I bought a Core 2 Quad Q8400 OC'd at 3.30GHz which eventually it was to much for the little 300 watt PSU to take and it finally just wouldn't start one day. (Sad...I know) I was very surprised it lasted that long actually.

Cons: However, it did make an odd noise sometimes, without a lot of load.

Other Thoughts: I have respect for this cheap little PSU though...
Ran 2 hard drives
A simple DVD drive
An Oc'd E8400Duo@4.4GHz and an Q8400Quad@3.3Ghz
2 120mm fans, and 4 92mm fans
A Gigabyte G41M ES2H and G31M ES2L
4GB of GSkill DDR2 RAM
And to top it all off, a Nvidia 8800GT OC.
Now for a power supply rated at 300W running that, not to shabby...

1 out of 5 eggsWorked fine...Once

Pros: Price?

Cons: Out of a batch of 5 one died the second time it was turned on. Bought two more as replacements, one so we would have a spare. First one again powered up once and that was it. Board does powers up fine with a full size 300 sitting out of the case.

Other Thoughts: Buy extras, you'll need them.

Manufacturer Response:

We at Athena Power would like to apologize for the inconvenience you experienced and we would like for you to contact us so we may assist you with an RMA so we can immediately get you a replacement for your defective unit. Please send an e-mail to service@athenapower.us or call us at (626) 810-5008. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: I purchased this power supply in Jan of 2010 and it has been working flawlessly since then (1 year and 10 months so far). I have had no trouble with it. I used it to replace the OEM power supply in my Dell Dimension 8300 desktop.

Cons: none!

Other Thoughts: Cheap and reliable, this was a great purchase for me!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money on this

Pros: None

Cons: DOA. What else needs to be said? A lot of people here also echo my sentiments. Why Newegg still carries this model despite poor reviews by these builders is beyond what I can understand. I've been wanting to resurrect my old timer Dell for some 90's gaming and viola! Upon push of the power button, the magic of nothingness. I put back my measly 85w and it fired up right away.

Other Thoughts: It's best to look elsewhere if you need that special power supply for your old timer. I just cannot trust this brand on anything anymore.

Manufacturer Response:

We at Athena Power apologize for this inconvenience, we would like for you to contact us and speak with our service representative so we can rectify the problem. We recommend that you conduct an RMA with us so we can send you a working replacement PSU, you can contact us at (626) 810-5008 or e-mail us at service@athenapower.us.

1 out of 5 eggsShouldn't even be called a PSU

Pros: Zero

Cons: This thing is a piece of garbage, do not buy it. This thing is using a topology that has been out of date for 8 years. It has a -5V....that is just pathetic. When this thing dies (and it will die) there is a very very high chance it will take out something else in your computer. Not only that but it is going to get terrible efficiency which means higher electricity bill and extra heat.

Other Thoughts: They cut costs every way possible and they still make a huge profit (that's how cheap they are) from getting your hard earned $16 (on sale). Avoid this thing at all costs and ANY PSU under $30. Please trust me

Manufacturer Response:

We at Athena Computer Power would like to apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with our PSU. This PSU is one of our older models but has been a very stable PSU which is why we still have it available to our customers, if you have any questions or wish to RMA that PSU we would be happy to assist you. Please contact us at (626) 810-5008 or send an e-mail to us at service@athenapower.us and we would be happy to speak with you. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: .

Cons: Arrived DOA. Fans would slightly spin for a second when I hit the power button. RMA'd for a replacement. Hopefully, 2nd time's the charm.

Other Thoughts: Spend a little more on something that has a better track record. Based on other reviews, maybe Newegg needs to think about pulling this off the shelf.

Manufacturer Response:

We at Athena Computer Power apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. With the MPS3ATX30 model we do not experience many RMA's and can assure you that this is a rare case. Please contact us at (626) 810-5008 or email us at service@athenapower.us, we would like to hear more feedback from you and help assist you with any other questions you may have. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsBestPSU

Pros: SO MANY. This inexpensive beast powered my computer for 1 year and 4 months now. I just recently bought a Nvidia 8800GT(minimum 400W) and this PSU still trucks with 2 hard drives, CD drive, 2 120mm and 3 90mm fans running. Still very quiet, no problems, no heat, no hassle. If you don't get a DOA, you will most likely enjoy this PSU.

Cons: None, their can't be.

Other Thoughts: Sadly, there is only 2 SATA connectors, but you can easially fix that by buying a molex to SATA converter for only $1-2.
