4 out of 5 eggshp485d 485 psu

Pros: Cheap.
Works.

Sata works
wiring is strong..

Cons: I knocked off 1 egg because I felt that the 4pin cpu power cord was extremely short it fits but its such a tight pull with a video card. I could add an extension but I don't have one on hand.

molex really cheap to.

Other Thoughts: Powers this kind of system:

ASUS M3A78-EM AM2+/AM2 mobo
8gb G.Skill DDR2 800mhz ram
PowerColor AX5770 1GBD5-H Radeon HD 5770 1GB gpu
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor

1 out of 5 eggsInterrupts homeplug network FAIL

Pros: Quiet fan(s) as advertised. many connectors.

Cons: Whenever this power supply is switched on, it takes down my otherwise functional homeplug network. My homeplug devices are Zyxel PLA-407. Everything works again when the power supply is shut off. I've tried multiple alternate outlets and locations around the house -- always the same bad result.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdated review

Pros: Awesome power supply if you like poor specs and build quality.

Cons: Photo Gallery has now been updated to reflect the poor specs provided on the new version of this PS bearing the same model number as a better unit that was shipped in the past. The picture gallery showing the power specs on the side of the unit has only been updated for about three weeks so potential purchasers should be aware that most of the reviews for this PS are based on the older version of this PS that had two +12v rails and much better build quality. The current PS has weak specs and is poorly made so it would not be advisable to consider any reviews over three weeks old because the reflect the older version of this PS which was a better PS in every way.

Other Thoughts: Based on the revamped version of this PS, there are many better options with both better power specs and build quality.

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: Power Supply is very quiet.

Cons: Beware, the specs in the product details do not match what is shown in Picture Gallery and product received has the lesser specs as shown in the product details. Ordered an HP485D about a year ago and it had two +12v rails as shown on the label in the Picture Gallery so was not worried that the product detail specs showed only one +12v rail. To my surprise, it came in with the specs from the product details which are no where as good as shown in the Gallery reflects.

Other Thoughts: I kept the PS because I was fixing for a friend and it was adequate for the need but there are power supplies with better specs for the money and would not have bought this one based on the product detail specs. Companies should not be allowed to use the same model number when the specs are changed that drastically. The specs of the old HP485D I have (and are shown in the Picture Gallery) are in a different class than what is being sold under that model number now.

5 out of 5 eggsQUIET!

Pros: You can't beat the value of this power supply. I still can't get over how quiet it is. Great for a micro-atx / amd A6 build.

Cons: I can't think of any. Units that cost three times as much are just as likely to fail, so I think I won out on this one.
